The only time I witnessed such a gaping hole in a ceiling was in the Southeastern USA, following a lightning strike on an office building. Remarkably, there was an individual working just three feet away from where the lightning struck. Interestingly enough, this individual happened to be a taxi dispatcher, and I was driving a cab approximately half a mile away when I witnessed the lightning strike and heard about it on the radio. Suddenly, there was silence on the airwaves following by the sound of thunder. After dropping off my passengers at their destination, I returned to the office and found the dispatcher still alive but unable to speak, which was surprising given his tendency to shout loudly. Fortunately, the radio was repaired within a couple of hours. The most important thing is that the girl wasn't seriously injured. The scene was quite impressive. Let's hope she wasn't injured and took advantage of her free time to undergo a medical examination.
