Surely a fascinating story as I said at the start I doubt this could happen again in this era . What is evident is that it took a massive amount of enthusiasm and hard work on your part along with a fair element of luck but most importantly the guts to go and do it . You came out the other side maybe a little more cynical which is inevitable , but you remained a nice guy in what is I imagine an industry with very few good guys around . I'll put it down to the Irish genes

The reason I said this in the first instance is I do think about it a lot . Sometimes I really do wish I'd never found the place . I'd love to visit Brazil , Argentina , Cuba , Peru , Australia and a few other places but over the last 7 years I can't get beyond Thailand . And its not that I love Thailand which I don't , its a sexual addiction to ladyboys . I've always told myself that when I stop enjoying it I'll walk away problem is 18 trips down the line I'm still enjoying it too much . An addiction/ affliction for sure . Ah for 2 weeks in Magaluf

I spotted you last night it gave me a right laugh . And so summer is finally here ! Spent a lovely afternoon lying in the park listening to great tunes and relaxing . Strawberries and cream for tea ! Dylan's Blood On the Tracks and Nick Drakes Five Leaves Left get honourable mentions before we got the harder stuff . I'd forgot how good this is ........ beautiful .

Interesting and very true . The countries that have embraced Neo Liberalism and worshiped the free market are the places were the majority are left more miserable . Why ? Because there has been a massive shift in wealth to a very rich few at the top at the expense of the majority . Almost everything in life from life expectancy to mental illness , violence to illiteracy is affected not by how wealthy a society is , but how equal it is . A pretty decent read on the subject is The Spirit Level by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett .

Seven years on from discovering the place I'm still not sure whether its a healthy obsession or not . My every days holiday is saved so I can spend 6 weeks a year in Thailand . i don't miss the place in summer but wish I was there all winter . I spend far too much time on forums when I have more important things to do . Far too many people great me with "When are you going back to Thailand?" Thing is I don't really care much for Thailand just the ladyboys .

Well said Rxpharm my sentiments entirely . Anti Arab/Muslim racism seems to in fashion at the moment . I don't know a lot of Arabs personally but the last few I talked to were Arab women who had been at the forefront of the Egyptian revolution ......... pretty good people ,/hero's in my book . Pattaya attracts unsavory people , I've spied many European's all overweight and sweating , badly dressed and drunk I never got to close but I'll bet they didn't smell of roses .
