I lived in KL for 5 years in the late 90s and have been back numerous times since. I'd say the article is pretty accurate. Shortly after arriving in KL I discovered the joys of the "executive health centres" located along Bukit Bintang, and in fact in the basement of nearly every city hotel. Especially the fact that you would get a first class massage followed by the extras of your desire, as opposed to massage parlours in the West and Australia where the massage element was often a cursory or bored back rub with baby oil... or you'd get a proper massage, but the whole WSWS (will she/won't she) as regards anything extra. Health centre girls in the late 90s were nearly always local Chinese, with the occasional Thai and the (very) occasional but deliciously illicit Malay. My particular favourites were girls from Sarawak or Sabah who tended to be Iban or Bidayuh. Interestingly, the combination of sudden air-conditioning and the smell of slightly damp carpet, such as often greeted one's entry to a health centre, still provokes a Pavlovian frisson of excitement and quickening of the pulse, in anticipation of delights to come! The forum has been very quiet on the Cambodia front of recent times. Well I'm due back in PP in about 3 weeks and I've just phoned a couple of old flames to sound out where all the ladyboys are working around town. I am reliably informed that Island Bar on 118 currently has 6 ladyboys on staff, which by PP standards is a shitload, and not necessarily a good thing in my book. From my experience this bar is one of the raunchier bars in PP where girls dance on the bar and I've seen guys just about fucking girls on the sofas. I've been with at least 3 of the 6 ladyboys at this bar so in actual fact I'll probably give it a wide berth, owing to the general clinginess/jealousy/immaturity of the PP ladyboy population. I actually far prefer the bars with a single resident ladyboy as you avoid a lot of bullshit! Anyway I am in town for a week and will probably hit at least 30 bars and all the clubs and will post an update at the conclusion. Cheers premier

Yes, so very sad and so very tragic. On the surface one could easily blame religion(s) on this type of ignorance, social injustice, human disrespect, and lack of acceptance, however I think it runs much deeper than that. For many men (I doubt there are a lot of women out there murdering transgendered people) I believe it goes deep into their own fear of what they secretly/subconsciously desire on occasion and by pounding the piss out of those desired objects (or murdering them), in their minds rids them of the torment of temptation and validates what they believe to be pure and right and all they aspire to be, even if false. You could scorch the earth of all religions and backward dogma but I doubt the overall human attitude towards homosexuality and transgendered individuals will change quickly. Perhaps this attitude is impossible for our species to overcome. Perhaps we are too limited. However I like to believe somewhere down the not too distant generational line it will happen. We have moved light years in my lifetime in terms of accepting gays. When I was a lad/teenager they were known as homos, fruits, and queers. And they were beaten to a pulp. Those references and actions don't happen anymore. Being "gay" today in my society is as acceptable and normal as Jack & Jill running up the hill. I hope the world will soon be enlightened when it comes to the transgendered. In the meantime I will pray for the souls that are damaged, even perished due to the intolerance, ignorance, and fear of others. And please don't get me going on the Catholic Church!!!

United Mileage Plus has gone to hell. They now give you miles based on how much your ticket cost as opposed to the distance flown. My recently purchased United flight LAX-BKK will only give me a miserable 2640 miles. Or five miles for every dollar spent if you are a basic member. You can still do pretty well using/churning their credit cards. Bars seem to pick and choose which forums they post updates on - sometimes due to familiarity and friendships, sometimes due to the activity of the board. Very few post on all the lbs forums. It does take time to post updates, and especially photos, which can be problematic if the uploader doesn't work well, or the internet connection is slow. Some bar owners are techo-phobic, and some might not have enough time - but certainly the benefits for those who do post updates is clear. Cocktail and Dreams has been able to maintain enough business to keep going despite surrounding bars (gg and lbs) going under due to lack of business. Lita's Bar is getting business as well, and so is La Bamba. Interestingly enough some bars that were heavily promoted by Gutsy Bastard on several forums are facing difficulties, Darkside and Paradise Club so advertising is not always the solution for increased business.

It also shows the flaws in the web design which can be hacked for blackmail. Nowadays its a hobby for some people to hack and blackmail for something. Its better for us to get a nice secured simple web design rather going for lush costly unsecured web design. Its my opinion coz just now i m studying about web designed and loop holes in the designing part.
