  1. Crocodile stunt on Koh Samui goes wrong.
  2. Thai pop singer, Lamaya, has been criticized by Prime Minister Prayuth for an excessive number of pelvic tHursts when twerking. He actually suggested that she reduce her pelvic thrusts from nine to three and she is complying. She is also now wearing short shorts rather than panties on stage. The reduced amount of pelvic thrusts is necessary to improve the image of Thailand and also to be more consistent with Thai values. Which got me to thinking as to what is the optimal number of pelvic thrusts? Does it differ when giving than receiving? Is there a point when one has to say, "No Mas"?
  3. Word is that Thailand will be implementing.a new 10 year mutiple entry retirement visa in August. The cost is a very reasonable 10,000 baht but there are some requirements and it's not available to citizens of all countries, some exceptions are Ireland, Belgium, and New Zealand but most countries that LBR posters are from are eligible. You must be 50 years or older. You must have either 3 million baht in a Thai bank account OR 1,800,000 baht in a Thai account and 1,200,000 baht per year in other income. Think you must keep the money in the bank for at leat a year. Btw, the Mee Tae Dai account at the Yellow Bank currently pays 1.3% interest which is more than you get in an American bank. You need Thai health insurance. The 10,000 baht fee is a bargain compared to both the current retirement visa and visa costs from other countries such as the Philippines and Cambodia. Currently the visa fee is 1,900 baht a year plus 1000 baht per single reentry permit or 3,900 (I think) per yearly multiple entry permit. For me, that's 2,900 per year plus I put 100 baht in a tip box, the immigration guy seemed to like that and maybe he will remember my ugly face. Not for everybody, and probably not for me but may suit some of you. The health insurance from a Thai company might not be a bad idea as in an emergency.

  5. Qatar row helping boost baht, says central bank governor. A sharp appreciation in the baht in Wednesday morning’s trading – to Bt33.90 per dollar – has sparked concern over a potential impact on Thai exports. Thais held back on investments in Qatar amid volatility in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries cut off diplomatic relations with their neighbour. Thai money stayed home instead, driving up the baht’s value. Central bank governor Veerathai Santiprabhob noted on Wednesday that Thai investors usually have around Bt200 billion worth of assets based in Qatar, but have withdrawn much of it. Foreign investors were also more heavily subscribing to Thai bonds, demonstrating greater confidence in the Thai economy’s ability to recover, he said. At the same time, there is doubt over the United States’ economic outlook with President Donald Trump under fire for sacking the chief of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The combination of factors has triggered large capital inflow into Thailand and driven up the baht’s value, Veerathai said. He advised exporters to hedge against high volatility in currencies. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/news/business/EconomyAndTourism/30318041

  8. Phuket Sex Show Raided Soldiers led by Col Santi Sakuntanark, Commander of the 25th Infantry Regiment and the highest-ranking army officer stationed in Phuket, raided the Wake Up Club in Patong last Wednesday (June 7). The club is in a backstreet behind the China Town Plaza on Rat-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd, bordering on the fringe of the Chinatown area off Sai Nam Yen Rd. Col Santi explained to The Phuket News this morning (June 12) that it was decided to not inform the press about the raid, but the news became public on Friday. “The media were not informed about this mission at all. It was ‘special enforcement’, but the media eventually found out from police,” Col Santi said. Joining the raid, carried out at 10pm, were officials from the Kathu District Office and the Patong Police. Inside the venue officers found hundreds in the audience of what Col Santi called “international tourists”. On stage were two performers Ms Wanida Chamjai and Mr Monton Jaraypanya, who were subsequently arrested. “They were preforming a pornographic show on stage. She was in a bikini, but exposing her breasts,” Col Santi said. Also arrested was club owner Sitthichai Changteang. He was charged for providing a venue for a pornographic show and charged with operating an entertainment venue without a license. The show openly targetted Chinese tourists. “Tickets cost B2,500 per person, and there were many shows a day. The venue had about 200 seats,” Col Santi noted. I think you're on to something there Arch. It must be extremely embarrassing for the cockwomble when his coworkers and neighbors see the video. On another note IN a bid to keep up with other airlines that it admires and aspires to be like, budget flight providers Ryanair have announced that they will be following United Airlines example, when it comes to dragging people off their planes, adding that they will be imposing a 15 euro charge to cover the cost of the process.

I fly Air Asia quite a bit and they have a reputation for being inexpensive but they aren't all that cheap. For domestic flights inside Thailand, Thai Lion Air is often cheaper especially if you have checked baggage. Sometimes even Thai Airways and Bangkok Air are even cheaper and they both fly out of Swampy. Thai Airways has a generous 30 kilo free baggage allowance and with Bangkok Air you can use their lounge with free coffee, juice, pastries, and very light snacks. With Air Asia if you are flying with a friend and want to sit next to each other you need to pay extra. You also have to make sure that you unchecked their insurance and unchecked their crappie paid meal. They try to induce you to pick a seat by not making it obvious upfront that it costs extra. And if booking online there is no avoiding their credit charge surcharge. What I find irritating is that you can't find out the final price until you fill in lots of personal info. But I used to assume that they were always cheaper and sometimes they are cheapest. With Thai Airways, the price you see is what u get with 30 free kilos of checked baggage. One good thing that Air Asia offers is emergency exit row seats for an extra 11 bucks which is worth it IMO on long 3 and 1/2 hour flights to the PI as generally nobody pays extra for a middle seat so you probably will have nobody next to you and lots of extra leg room. Hong Nam is free on Air Asia. If going from Pattaya to Don Muang you can take the Bell Bus to Swampy and then a free shuttle from Swampy to Don Muang. But if going from Don Muang to Pattaya, the free shuttle is not available, they check if you have a ticket but sometimes you can bullshit your way on if your nice. The Ryan Air ASSHOLE wouldn'T Be Able To Do it.

The guy is an asshole. But the CEO of Ryan air is even a bigger asshole. Some customers aren't going to check all the small print to discover that they have to pay a 50 euro surcharge if they didn't print out a boarding pass in this day and age when many people have a boarding pass on their phone. 50 euros. Fuck you Ryan Air. Ryan Air management must know there are going to be lots of pissed off people and despite knowing that they put this poor young lady in the line of fire. The asshole customer is not the first guy who was taking a connecting flight and had no means of printing out his boarding pass. She probably gets irate customers due to this issue a few times a week. Management knows this and management also knows that a percentage of the irate customers will be an extreme asshole like this clown. I wouldn't be happy if it was 5 euros but that would be enough of a deternet so that most people would print it out. 50 fucking Euros. Ryan Air was the airline that was going to charge people to use the Hong Nam until there was too big of a backlash. Shame on the CEO who put this girl in the line of fire by instituting this stupid policy. And yes, the customer is an asshole.....that management should have anticipated.
  12. I assume the boy pics are the before and the ladyboy pics are the after. It is really quite shocking the other way around when the girl that you lusted after now has a goatee.

Doesn't sound like the ideal venue for the World Cup.
  14. Perhaps the most iconic album cover of all time and also played hundreds of times by me. Fast moving cultural shifts in 1967 and that was even before social media. In '64 the Beatles with their mop top haircuts were relatively clean cut singi g extremely well done and catchy pop tunes. In just 3 years they were glorifying drugs and revolution. Just a few days before Sgt Pepper was released, Muhammed Ali refused to be inducted into the army. Ali said “My conscience won’t let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people, or some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America,” “And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn’t put no dogs on me, they didn’t rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father. … Shoot them for what? How can I shoot them poor people? Just take me to jail.” That summer was called the Summer of Love. Young people flocked San Francisco and the still yet ungentrified East Village in New York to practice Free Love and do drugs. Back then Fucking For Fun was considered subversive. In early 1968 the mainstream media started to realize the futility of what the Vietnamese call the American War and Walter Cronkite declared that the war was unwinnable. Music was a huge part of the hippie counterculture. It's really quite easy today to start a movement with the aid of social media but young people had a strong motivation in not wanting to go to Vietnam so the counterculture grew Album covers were a part of this countrrculture. Btw, Sonny Liston is one of the people on the Sgt Pepper cover. Any of you know half the people? Sgt Pepper is not the only iconic Beatles cover. Abbey Road is also quite recognizable as well as those of other bands. Any favorites you have?
  15. Two tram lines are being planned for Pattaya.
  16. Not only can you grab em by the pussy; you can also rape them. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has sought to reassure soldiers who might be accused of committing abuses under martial law and jokingly said that if any of them were to rape three women, he would personally claim responsibility for it. It's more fun in the Philippines.
  17. Commune Elections are being held so no booze on June 3-4. Not sure if bars will be open if not selling booze. The Commune elections are strong indicator of the results of the Parliamentary elections to be held in 2018.
  18. There are morlams all over Issan, though not the size of the ones in Pattaya. The trucks have arrived and a stage will soon be erected in Sakon Nakhon for tonight's show. Sanook!
  19. I get the impression that this controversy can be chalked up to a bad translation but it has created a shit storm on Thai social media for being insensitive. Quite the difference between Thailand and Indonesia. In one country calling gays or transgenders is consider politically incorrect speech while in the other you can get caned for being a sexual deviant.
  20. There is something very odd about selfies being taken at events such as public canings or burnings at the stake.
  21. Mango Square gets going late. I wouldn't arrive before 10:30 PM. Prime time is later, maybe around 12:30 AM and perhaps later on the weekends. Mango Square also has some food stalls that are pretty good. And San Miguel Lite is a local beer so quite inexpensive or if you want a real buzz you can go the Red Horse route, ordering quart bottles for your table and ask for ice and lots of paper cups. What's also nice about Cebu is that taxis are quite cheap with generally cheerful honest cabdrivers.
