  1. Another night in Pattaya. This was just a very quick Walking Street night. Started out at The Windmill. Draft beer I'd fairly priced at 80 baht for what is arguably the wildest gogo in town. I hadn't been there in a few years and see they now have an upstairs. Took a quick look upstairs and it didn't look any wilder than downstairs. Then just seconds away is Katoeys R Us. Despite having a good array of talent the place was empty quite a contrast to the packed Windmill. Too bad both these places are on Walking Street. We went back to Windmill on a future night. We've all seen girls shooting ice cubes out of their pussies into your beer mug dozens of time. And dildos and vegetables being inserted. But saw something that night I've never seen before. One of the girls asked if she could pee in my mate's empty beer mug and she filled it almost to the top. Good thing she didn't have asparagus for dinner! My impression of October in Pattaya is feast or famine depending on the bar or area. Windmill packed. Lots of customers at New Plaza and MIT. Action Street, half the bars closed and the existing bars with hardly any customers. Blue Ratree Complex near Action Street 90% of the bars closed and at the two or three existing bars almost no customers. (spelling corrected)
  2. Interesting, can't recall ever hearing about a Ladyboy Soapy Massage! Best of luck with ZZ2! I love the feel of Soi Chaiyapoon! At night the rugged feel of the soi, offers a romantic 3rd World vibe. Lot's of atmosphere somewhat similar to Victory Hill in Sihanoukvile before the tsunami of Chinese money. OTOH the paved Soi Honey, feels more like Switzerland. The potholes are actually an asset in the Dry Season as it slows down speeding motobikes. Is there still a bar as part of the Zaza group on Chaiyapoon?
  3. Went to see Hunter Killer tonight. Wasn't going to go as the Rotten Tomatoes score was a pathetic 34% but my better half liked the trailer. I was pleasantly surprised. We both liked it. It is certainly not a great film, the plot and acting weaker than other submarine movies Crimson Tide and The Hunt For Red October but is by no means a horrible movie and IMO deserves a better rating than 34. So not a movie to rush out and see, but it very well could be the best movie currently playing at some Thai multiplexes that both Thais and Farangs might enjoy.
  4. Major Cineplex at theAvenue Mall has a discount card that comes in three flavors: 1) Regular 2) Student 3) Age 60+ These cards cost 100 baht and supposedly good forever. The Regular card gives you a 20 baht discount. The 60+ has a 50 baht discount. You also get a free movie during your birthday week. The website states this free movie must be at least one month after you buy the card but the girl at Major told me the movie will be free on my birthday week later this month. There are also points you can earn. Not really sure what they are good for. If you buy a ticket for you and your companion think you get extra points, not sure but I think. But you only get a discount for yourself. This card might also be good at other chains other than Major. Hey, anyone know if the Sensations/Baby Boom discount card or 69 Bar discount card is still around?

Whitey The Wanker was beaten to death in prison the other day. Here is a clip from 2 years ago:
  6. I don't object to the concept of karaoke. Done right, it can be lots of fun. But invariably at Pattaya events the speakers are shite which don't support loud volume. So the experience is usually physically painful for me. OTOH, a sound system such as in Baccarat sounds great even if they play songs I don't particularly care for at a loud volume. I'm curious as to how expensive it is to rent the whole setup for night. Anyone know?

    The Big Breakfast

I-Rovers brekkie that was 99 baht is now 129 so no longer a great deal. The Backpacker place across from Surprise Yourself has a 100 baht brekkie. I think the Simple Simon brekkie on Soi5 in Jomtien is a very good deal as the meat and toast are high quality and you get 2 big cups of coffee. Usually go there on Immigration days. 129 baht. Passed by the Apex today (right next to The Base) and they still have their 150 baht breakfast buffet from 6AM until 12:30 PM according to the sign Those hours don't fit well with my sleep rhythm bit perhaps I'll check it out on the morning after the US midterm elections. Last time I went there was a good selection of food and all the coffee you can drink. Like most buffets, the food is freshest the earlier you go.
  8. It's only 5PM and I see Buakhao bargirls with Halloween makeup.

Who is to blame? Indonesia? Lion Air? Boeing? Pilot was only 31 years old. Anyone know the relationship between Lion and Thai Lion? Lion seems to have a bad rep ad does Indo safety.
  10. Last night I was headed home from the Tin Cup joint on Buakhao, and was walking along LK Metro when a girl outside the Orifice handed me a piece of paper for a free draft beer that need to be used that night. The beer was quite refreshing as dinner was a tad on the spicy side. Although Champagne was the first gogo on Metro, the Orifice was probably one of the first three. Good layout. Not too many girls that night but some were pretty. At any rate can't beat a free beer; OK 20 baht with tip. I tend to go out late therefore missing most happy hours. But some of the gogos have cheap draft beer options, so if one is in the mood for an AC place with dancers, Metro is not all that much more expensive than even a super cheap place like Kateseree. as long as you're not buying ladydrinks. Billibong had a big crowd, guess they always have a big crowd,. It was an anniversery party. Billibong has 2 for 1 pricing which I don't like. Just cut out the games and charge me for one beer at half the price. I like the flexibilty of leaving after one beer to see where the grass is greener.

    Airline News

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A Lion Air flight with 189 people on board crashed into the sea moments after taking off from Indonesia's capital early Monday. The airliner said it had lost contact with Flight JT-610 and Indonesia's search and rescue agency posted images of debris it has found from the Boeing 737 Max 8 plane that went down in the waters off West Java. There was no immediate word of any survivors and the aircraft is believed to have sunk after it crashed.
  12. Thank you for turning me onto this bus earlier this year SJ! I strongly recommend this bus. FROM the airport, it only leaves from Terminal 3 so you need to make your way to Terminal 3 if flying into another terminal. Not sure how to do that in the most cost effective manner. TO the airport the bus will go to Terminals 1 and 2 for an extra 50 pisos, so the price to Terminal 1 would be 400 pisos. There are also a couple of extra VIP each days that have a Comfort Room (bog, hong nam) onboard and these busses charge an extra 50 pisos so S&M mall to Term 3 would be 400 and toTerminal 1 or 2 would be 450. From my hotel I offered the trike driver 50 piso. He refused so I walked. Unless it is raining or very hot or I have lots of luggage, it is easier for me to walk than to get into or out of the trike. The walk from my hotel near Narciso and Fields is actually more direct than taking the trike. From Dau, where the Victory Liner would leave me off, I am willing to pay 100 pisos but offer 80 pisos, the driver would counter with 100 and I would say let's go. But I saw Victory Liner now picking up/dropping off passengers at SM. From Clark there is a jeepney that drops you off at JOlibees for just 50 piso. It is 100 to Dau so make sure you say Jolibees or Fields. I thought having a toilet onboard could be useful if we hit very bad Manila traffic so I got to SM before the noon bus. Not sure what happened to the noon bus so I sat in the nice outdoor but covered waiting area listening to non-stop Christmas tunes in early October. A bus arrived at 12:30 with no toilet and charged the lower price (400 to Terminal 1). At that time of day traffic will be light (for Manila) but a girl in the Windmill gave me a god idea. She peed in my mate's empty beer mug. I wound up arriving at the airport 5 hours early but I'd rather arrive way to early than be stressed out by cutting it too close. At Terminal 1, after you check in, there is a Lounge with free snacks and free booze that you can use for 750 or 790 pisos that some guys might like. But I have little interest in drinking alone before a flight. I found the food prices after check in to be quite reasonable compared to other airports though. You pay on the bus. I don't think you can buy a ticket in advance on the same day. There is a guy sitting by the desk in the waiting area and he said don't worry, the bus is never full. But what if it is and I have a flight to catch? Btw, the Southern Cross bus which left from the Brass Knob, from Angeles to Manila has been discontinued. Not sure what Grab costs but you can arrange a car to/from Angeles/Manila airport for 2500 pisos from Beeway Travel which is in the lower Perimeter not too far past the Brass Knob. Quantas,........
  13. Good luck to Dao! Do you have details SP? I assume this in Nong Khai? Ladyboy competition?
  14. The Wild Boars will be at Old Trafford for the game tonight! Perhaps Mourinho should put them on the pitch; it might improve the team!
  15. I'm mostly a stay at home guy these days but a buddy was in Sodom Ny The Sea and we had a good night out. Usually, I just drink beer and as there is a limit as to how many beers I can drink, I usually don't get very drunk. But we started out at New Plaza in one of the slightly more expensive bars and was in the mood for Sang Som Cokes @ 50 baht a pop.. It was my first night out, was feeling the excitement and had four of these to warm up. Then off to the ladyboy bars. First stop was Surprise Yourself and was somewhat surprised that we were the only customers as New Plaza had been quite busy.. While there was nothing wrong with either the place or the talent, I was not overly impressed. Next stop was down the soi to Baby Boom. Some of the girls were rocking out with erect cocks and I had the chance to have a chat with Josh who thankfully wasn't rocking out with his cock out. Then onto 69 Bar and neither of us was very impressed; it was getting late and perhaps the best was already barfined. My mate deaprted, but I had a good buzz on by then and wandered through the MIT complex and had one more drink before stumbling home.
  16. To answer your question about 0.05 baht per dollar. But I am not really sure if the rates shown are really up to date. There were differences between some TT locations. And some TT locations had different names. Maybe some are franchised or there was a merger/takeover? I wonder if all TT locations in Pattaya have the exact same rate?
  17. Just discovered a website a few hours ago that makes it pretty easy to compare rates among money changers. You might have to login to the site to see the best results but you can login by way of Facebook. These rates may not be up to date and is not an exhaustive list of money changers but is a good starting point as to finding the best rate. I fooled around with some links to make them more user friendly. Below are the rates for USD, EUR, and GBP for Pattaya and Bangkok: https://get4x.com/en/thailand/pattaya/USD-THB?amount=_1 https://get4x.com/en/thailand/pattaya/EUR-THB?amount=_1 https://get4x.com/en/thailand/pattaya/GBP-THB?amount=_1 https://get4x.com/en/thailand/bangkok/USD-THB?amount=_1 https://get4x.com/en/thailand/bangkok/EUR-THB?amount=_1 https://get4x.com/en/thailand/bangkok/GBP-THB?amount=_1
  18. As mentioned in Pattaya, TT Exchange gives a much better rate than the banks for major currencies. Two alternatives: There is a very small exchange booth just past Friendship supermarket, at the very end of their space by their annex, as you head from TukCom towards 3rd Road. The USD rate was 32.98 while at TT it was 32.95. I have always had good luck at the antique store between Soi 16 and Soi VC on 2nd Road. But haven't used it in a longtime now that I use the airline booths at Swampy. If you ask for a better rate at the antique store they might give it to you if changing a large amount and if the rate is moving but not yet posted to a more favorable rate for them. I suspect that they offer a good rate on Middle Eastern currencies since I always see lots of Arabs there.
  19. Popped into TJs for a couple of drinks and was impressed with the talent. Not pushy either, as was left alone to drink with my buddy which is what we wanted.
  20. I was told if the ladyboys get caught, there is no fine but have to wait until 8AM to be released. I was also told that the little park next to Margarita Station/JJs is in a different barangay than Walking Street/Phillies and the girls feel safer form arrest by the park and moneychangers.. The good news is, "700 pisos, OK?" still works like a charm!
  21. Most bars in Thailand will be closed or not serving booze on Wednesday, October 24th.
  22. You nailed it xyzzy! Btw, there must be something about the Paradise name that attracts smoke. Before he opened Baby Boom, Josh had a GG gogo called Paradise. It was on Buakhao between Action Street (not even sure if Action Street was open then) and the Tuesday/Friday market. It wasn't small but smoke permeated the entire place. Since it was near where I lived it sometimes would be the last stop of my night. Smoke doesn't bother me unless I have a cold.
  23. It's the smallest gogo I've seen in Pattaya. Only room for about 3 girls onstage. At that price can't complain but would not go back if it wasn't Happy Hour. I didn't notice the smoke, but if someone is smoking I can see how it could get quite smokey in there. New Plaza is great if you want rock bottom prices with some bargirls around. At one of the more expensive joints on the side, SangSomCoke was 50 baht with a generous pour. I walked by Coffee and Beer on Pattaya Tai twice and it was empty. They are not good at finding relatively obscure sports if you have a special request. And they are not as cheap as they used to be Katesiree has excellent prices and good tv screens. They also let you bring in food from the Tin Cup place. Always have a god time at Scooters, great music, 60 baht average price for a beer is OK for me but would prefer more straightforward pricing than the 80 baht for odd numbered beers and 40 baht for even numbered beers. But as much as I talk about prices, since I don't go out much, and don't buy those things called ladydrinks, it really doesn't matter too much if a beer is 60 baht 80 baht or 100 baht as long as the joint is enjoyable. I'm not going to sit in a shitty place just cause the beer is cheap. But that said, unless their is a specific gogo on LK Metro that friends want to go to, I'll suggest that we pick one with a Happy Hour or cheap draft beer option.
  24. IMO it's probably the easiest place to find in TukCom. If you take the escalator up it's directly in front of you s you get off on the 4th floor.. Impossible to miss if you know how the TukCom escalators work. Didn't realize the basement was also Mr DIY. Bought some stuff there meself.
