It's happened. Not something I'd ask for but sometimes you just go with the flow.

As a guy in the military I can see the appeal. Most military get some form of pension payed at a relatively young age. Usually 40s it certainly appeals to me. You're young enough to still be active and with a small income it would go a lot further in SE Asia than most other places.

I'm home now 6 weeks and not once did I think I'm glad to be back. There are things I miss when away from home but I think I will be making a semi permanent move in the next two years. I do like my summers in Ireland. Lots to do. But right now in this weather I struggle to like the place.

I agree. I loved Dumaguete. But not a lot of action there. I think it would be a nice place to retire to. The immigration charges are a bit steep. I think the ACR card cost me about €150. There are a lot of things about the burocracy there that pissed me off.
