Not to defend the sum bag rebels, but odds are that it was a stupid mistake, perhaps a drunken one. I can imagine discipline is "lax" to say the least. What is more disturbing are reports of bodies being looted and armed rebels firing over the heads of unarmed International inspectors. The rebels are refusing to admit responsibility and are beinbg supported by Vlad in the "spin battle" to pass the blame off on to some one else.

The Ruskies visiting/living in Thailand are sooo lucky that the downed plane wasn't a Thai Airways 777 filled with Thai nationals. Can you imagine the reaction? On the other hand since we are all "farang" it could be a tad uncomfortable for any Westerner. Always keep your packed get away bag handy :)

Selective NATO support. The Netherlands, Malaysia and Australia lost the most citizens on the avoidable tragedy. NATO could support (Intelligence, logistics) those countries respective Special Forces to secure the crash site and allow teams of International Investigators to determine the cause of crash. "The Dutch PM is taking it personally, good on him: Let me be crystal-clear about this," a visibly angry Rutte told reporters in The Hague. "Should it emerge that it was an attack, I will personally see to it that the perpetrators are brought to justice." Read more at: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/38630812.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst Sympathy for all the BMs losing fellow citizens. Putins just a bully and bullies always back down when challenged with equal resolve...
  4. Thais are focused in the now, its the central tenant in their language and culture. And yeah, Thais will often order food and barely touch it- especially when they aren't paying for it

I see it differently, in "What actions will the EU take to hold those responsible?" Why is this only America's problem? Ironic that the Dutch were reluctant to impose sanctions on Russia, they lost 154 citizens on the flight. RIP to all the victims. PS- Goes with out saying that BMs from Europe might look for a different flight path on their future visits to Thailand/SEA. Not that its likely for the pro Russian rebels to shoot down another civilian air liner any time soon...
  6. You couldn't make this stuff up...
  7. He started calling her a whore who no man could ever want. I said lots of guys would want her, she will probably leave the bar scene by marrying a farang. Then he started.... "how could anyone marry someone who wasn't a virgin? How could they ever kiss the mouth of someone who had kissed someone else?" Pretty common attitude with most Asian guys. They think we are nuts for marrying a girl/LB that previously sold her fanny. That's not to say Asian guys won't fuck any thing that moves- they will. But they would never marry them. Marriage here is a serious business and linking of two families, just as it once was in the West. Another reason Asian men think we are nuts is because most Western guys proudly display their prostitute GF/wives around in public. When the local guys mess around, especially those with status, they do so behind closed doors. Check out some of the soapy massage places on BKK's Ratchadapisek (SP?) Road -if you can get in- they are full of discerning Asian gents who are generous with their baht...
  8. Here, it is one matter to "Confess" but quite another to actually be guilty...
  9. I'm always amused when the locals lament "Why farang always lie?!?" Pot calling the kettle blackie
  10. The first time I visited Thailand and after all of the "Handsome Man" BS I caught my self primping in front of the mirror and thinking "Yeah, YEAH, I am one handsome dude" 555! Agree 100% with Route67- the locals tell us what we want to hear I've since returned to my senses- I'm an old, ugly dude with a few baht in my pocket, 555!
  11. Mahn = it, a reference to an animal. I've heard Thais refer to their farang partner this way, as in "It wants a beer" Tells you how some of the locals really view us :) Slightly off topic, but galee = very rude name for prostitute Eee lat, Eee dok mai = rude name for slut or bitch Gluay = banana, but also slang for prick or cock sucker (om gluay) Never call a Thai man this unless you want a fight kee nok can also be slang for cheap charley, as in Farang kee nok! Tood= gay Cha nee = disrespectful/mocking reference for women, used by ladyboys Torlae = talking bull shit Ai hee ah = Son of a bitch. Again, fighting words Yed mae = mother fucker Yed mung = fuck you! Mung = insulting form of you Goo = Arrogant form of I. Mung and goo are often used by younger Thais among close friends, in the same way Aussies jokingly call each other "Bastard" or Americans use "Son of a bitch." Eee used before a female reference is very insulting = Eee dum for "Miss Blackie, Eee ngo for Miss Stupid. Ai used before a male reference is very insulting = Ai bah for Mr. Stupid, Ai kwai for Mr. Buffalo Be very careful about curse words around polite Thais. If they hear you curse, even one time they will forever view you as low class and ill mannered.
  12. I knew there was a reason that I liked you Lung :) Some folks can't handle the truth (other board reference)
  13. I like Filipina LBs but I doubt the locals do. Truth be told all of us foreigners are only tolerated- barely so at times. I agree with another poster in that Pinay LBs would be more inclined towards better behavior; after all they are guests just like the rest of us. Subjective, but I usually root for the underdog; therefore, I have a natural sympathy for Pinay LBs in Thailand.
  14. Parallel Universe man A couple of thoughts: 1 Bar owners and staff could give a rat's ass about customers, they are focused on the short term. After all, tomorrow may never come. 2 Thailand hosted 11.7 million tourists in 2004; by 2013 arrivals skyrocketed to 26.7 million. From the "Industries" perspective there is always another sucker ready to walk through the door. (Data from Wiki) I was in one of Pattaya's LB go-gos, the only customer in the bar. One aggressive LB hounded me for a drink to the point where I left. The owner was sitting maybe 10 feet away but didn't lift a finger because he was engrossed in his phone... I see service levels continuing on a down ward spiral PS- Sex sells
  15. I've never understood why people use "fixers" to remain in Thailand. The Thai visa process is fairly straight forward and simply requires the applicant to educate himself about the process. I knew one guy that paid 20,000THB for a retirement visa. I was shocked and offered to walk him through the process free of charge. He was adamant that it was "too complicated" for the ordinary guy to do him self. A few years later he admitted to me that its actually not that difficult to acquire a retirement visa directly from Immigration... But yeah, for people with "history" or over stayers, it will always be a temptation.
  16. Lung? Never heard of him... Congrats Buddy; you will do a fine job. Just don't ban me, OK?
  17. Yeah she said it was her day off from the bar. One thousand is about my limit for ST and for that I expect a non hurried two hours and two shots :) But them that asks gets and I don't blame her for asking She caused quite a stir on another forum, most of it negative. In any case, I still think she is sexy but my best fucks have been ugly girls 555!
  18. Yeah, I used to ride the train up from BKK. I remember the one on the left, in the blue dress :)
  19. I like her looks as well. I chatted with her on Thai Friendy but her ST price of 1,500 put me off.
  20. Alluring eyes :) I did a bike trip around northern Thailand and spent a couple of nights at Udon. There is a street with a bar complex and even a ladyboy bar. Might have been an off period, but I've never experienced such uninterested "hostesses" in my life. Most were sleeping and not even pretending to be working. I met a girl from Thai Friendly instead :) The bar Udon bar complex is worth a look however and YMMV :)
  21. Agree with Lung- Chiang Mai is an OK place to live. I ride my bike a lot, so it suits me. Another place to live in Thailand is Phayao, good air, no traffic and not so much of a tourist trap. But the mongering would be a different scene. When you want some non stop fun, just head to Pattaya :) Lung is right on about CM's free lancers, there are some hidden gems there, you just need to do some hunting. The bars hold lees and less attraction for me; when I do go out, its simply to meet up with a buddy and BS. ** Big thanks to Lung for showing me the cabaret. The place was packed with tourists, even during the low season. I'd wager they were doing more business than the entire Loy Kroh road combined :) Even my last trip to Pattaya, four nights on the return trip from the Philippines, I called some of my old flames and they were happy to come to my room.
  22. I'm not that brave Jim :) I like your plan Lung! Great to see you last night Buddy, it was good to catch up. I enjoyed my self- and didn't buy one single lady's drink :)
  23. Some where cheap? I'm never that generous Lung, 555. I was off kilter that night and bought a total of six lady drinks; the two at Marina were 120, the normal price. The combined overcharge of the other four drinks was 180, so its not going to break the bank. However it did leave a bad taste in my mouth -like the bar could give a rat's ass- and from now on I won't be buying many lady drinks in Chiang Mai. If I am tempted to buy I'll ask the price before hand. I think here in Chiang Mai some of the bars make up the rules as they go along. I didn't ask the price before hand- so they made one up to suit themselves. Lesson learned Yeah, The Devine Miss Marina does like to knock back a few 555!
  24. Really good to know BB, thanks for sharing. I like value for money and I try to support bars like this. Some of the more popular LB bars start believing their own hype and infallibility, with service and attitudes going down hill. I'll check this bar out the next time I'm in Pattaya :)
