The forums are a tremendous source of information for everyone; you choose what you look at, take what you want and scroll on, it's there if you want it and ignore it if you don't. It does however allow anonymity to individuals whose distorted opinion/personal attacks may be questionable. I've nothing to hide, I've been a regular Patts visitor for 13 years, met a lot of great people along the way. Stop posting here...where on Earth did that personal vitriolic demand spring from and are you actually aware of what you said? New may be still in her 20's but is fast becoming Mama to the girls. Their rent is due, visa runs, family crisis...she helps where she can. She helps other bars out too, she understands the bureaucracy so freely gives out information & guidance when requested...and when they run short of beer/whisky a crate or bottle is there if required. There's always a few drop by's...one old gay fella drops in to do their eyebrows etc...10 baht a pop, I offered to pay one night and Farang Auto tax kicked in and was asked for 40...an older ladyboy called by and asked New if she could clean the bar. New realised her girls didn't like doing it so she was hired and the bar is tip top every day. A refresh is needed as Newbar is getting a bit shabby...this will happen soon.

The big party last night was TJ's; brilliant night by all accounts. Newbar was quiet but friendly, 50 Kungs Hotdogs were provided plus sandwiches & finger food, just a way of saying thanks to all the guys who take the time to drop in from time to time, no drama.

Interesting reality twists here. Yup I did ban P&G, guilty as charged. This was a last resort on a drawn out series of messages requesting him to desist from his forum behaviour; he was sin binned for a while then immediately came back with 'I can post whatever I like'... These are all public forums and have requisite rules of forum behaviour. He did come back in various guises, spotted & potted. He has a bee up his arse wrt the bars; up to him as no-one is forcing him to enter one. I do not own a bar or run one, my girlfriend does & I assist with promotion which low & behold attracts forum interest, not the bar, just the pics of the girls, which, correct me if I'm 180 out, is exactly why we come to the forums. Good response from P&G but slightly to the left with regard to the bars. The guys that go to Thailand enjoy the craic amongst the guys and girls in the bars and to them it's part of the holiday experience, it's a social thing ye know. Nothing against a fella who wishes to remain discreet and order in but some prefer and indeed enjoy a drink and natter before the deed. Yup the girls are nowadays more savvy but they also realise where the punters lurk...in the bars, funny old thing. Doing their business by internet will only increase prices...think about it. They do the internet thing and play the bars, best of the new & the old, up to them and let me point out there is no tie to the bar; the majority of the girls are freelance by choice as the hours suit them and believe me they are doing well, good luck to them. Barfines start at 300 around the bazaars; I did note that some GG bars are doing the Nightwish barfine tiering system but thankfully the LB bars are steady as they are. A bar is far from a goldmine, most of us get nothing from it; to me it serves several purposes. It keeps the teerak in employment and elevates her status amongst her social group It provides a social/employment venue for friends and associates Great place to meet like minded souls I was in 69 last night and it was a relaxed friendly place, no drama with some fantastic looking talent you can actually touch, feel and interact with. On occasion some may tie one on but generally they pace themselves, pointless being wrecked if yer angling for a barfine. They receive 50thb per drink plus a share of any tips. Given the daily wage in LoS is circa 300 baht getting 500 to go to the bar and have a drink with your friends ain't a bad deal. Not every night will be a good earner for them so they have to balance the good with the bad.

Drugs, Sponsors & Gambling...the Oilyfants in da loom. Drugs Not really had any issues so far, if New gets wind of it and they get a warning then the boot. One girl was locked in her room for 3 days by none other than the BiB themselves, her friends were allowed to bring her food. She was warned by them that if she tested positive at any time it was a short pick-up ride to the Monkey House and I don't mean DC's room. Recently a good regular girl started behaving erratically, New suspected she was smokin' so she's now no longer welcome. it's not only the girls...some dodgy long time Pattaya expats are abusers...New will not serve them and their regular girls who get the stuff for them know not to bring them to her bar. Once she had the shop & was self sufficient I've never paid her anything in that respect. Our daily yak... New was pleased to see her familiar & new friends last night, a steady evening & the girls do well with LD's and everyone happy just to relax into it. Buds...we all have them. Fellas we've known over the years, perhaps some more than others but good guys with a common interest, not just in LB's but the perhaps the communality that Pattaya brings. The bar is a good sounding board as a catch up with friends, advice or explanation or even recollection of the previous nights events. It's a passing sounding board on the way to a party or a last drink call in with your catch of the night on the way to yer scratcher. Fond memories of Hoot falling asleep in the ST rooms at Ezy waking up the next day at noon frightening the life out of Lita, SLBT wearing a kilt (no pants) farting & following through in Pooks Swanhouse, Terry the plumber banging Cindy up the back of the minibus in Ko Chang...can't remember what I did, I'm sure I was a nice boy.

This low season has been a killer for many bars and the girls. A reciprocal bell ringing is usually done for friends bars; if your previous night has been ok then you ring the bell at your mates bar to wish them chok dee for the night. This puts 50 baht in the girls purses and gives your mate a breather. Doris seldom has her music system on despite paying an annual fee of 8k just to have the right to play music. Other bars blast away regardless not acknowledging they have no customers as it's too fucking loud. A careful eye is also kept on the wellbeing of the girls; Doris knows who is doing well and who need help so she will make sure they have food and as said before, Ladydrinks & tips are paid up in full at the end of the night. It's a good pitch for the ladies and they usually do ok though as usual are subject to external influences from friends & sages. One girl was shy and didn't like coming out from behind the bar but still managed 22k in tips & salary per month; a yakking friend who had fuck all squared got her to leave and now she is out of the loop. Doris helps the girls send money to family via the big K app and surprisingly enough they often send some back when their girl's rent is due and she has had no cussamers. Customers...that's us. Oddly New has had tremendous support from the BM's old 'n new & guys who are just walk ins. They find the bar, like the location, enjoy the company & craic and their holiday. She knows and appreciates she's been lucky in this respect, knows all by name and is genuinely pleased when her old friends walk in the bar. She reciprocates with the shots/killer pool drinks and is not mercenary with the bin...unless it's mine.

I rarely step in... The girl 3rd from the right pitched up early on New & Boms birthday. I got chatting to the lad who brought her, he explained he seldom dabbles but this one called him out of the blue after a year from his last dabble and asked if he would take her out on her birthday. I recognised her from bar pics as having briefly previously worked in Newbar though had never met her. While I was chatting I noticed the girl had started a money necklace, no customers in yet so only the girls had pinned notes to it. New & Bom had not started theirs yet. I called Doris over and mentioned it to her, she knew but was reluctant to say anything so I asked her to tell her that I was the one asking. This was relayed and she came over to show me her ID and it was indeed her birthday. An awkward moment but I explained that it may be her birthday but it wasn't her party plus she didn't work here anymore...an ouch moment. I also quietly explained that New & Bom had paid for the food and all & had worked all year for this night so not fair to them. She was visibly upset. The fella didn't see it as an issue and obviously felt for his date. I explained again to him that she was welcome but it was not her party. An awkward moment so I excused myself for a drink at 69. When I returned the fella and his girl had gone. People had started to turn up and the party was on. New later explained that she had to get rid of the girl from the bar due to the usual Pattaya issues and that she'd been in the Monkey House for a while.

In the last few months mate but all in the same course of events, just thought I'd put a perspective on New's daily dealings with trying to run the bar. It's not all bell ringing & good times, she has to cope with a lot. She's a great girl and I'm lucky that she has a sound sense of judgement...fuck knows why she chose me.

Part Four…Groundhog Day Wake up to sms from Soi 9 to report back there at 4pm. The bill from the Bond shop has come in so she sends them 10k via the big K app. Her sister has a day off from her job in a hotel so she turns up to help clean the house & garden. Other sister, a cashier in Serbian Bar wants her to pick up her son from Rayon, not today…busy. Bom messages her she’s off for a week as her boyfriend is here…no notice, just get on with it. The PCX is playing up so off to the local shop for a quick fix, 500 barts. At Soi 9 the big fat day SGT gets a replay of last nights complaint. The bar owner is adamant New tried to steal from her and wants her jailed. New stays quiet. The big fella sizes everyone up then tells New to stay away from the other bar. He then says why am I looking at a fight between 2 ladyboys, get the fuck out of here. Bambi laters tells everyone she put New in hospital for a week…what a lovely girl.

Part Trois Got there to find the LB bar owner has stated New tried to steal from her bar…CCTV footage shows the Bambi chase and at no time did New go near the till. BiB sgt says give me 10k and it will go away. New tells him to go away and lock everyone up…he relents and says report back tomorrow. On the way back she gets a call from the girls…Nidcha has been hit from behind by a maow driver on Soi Buck while walking home and is in the Emergency room. Into Pattaya hospital & finds Nidcha has had 2 teeth knocked out and damaged ribs & legs…Mama please help me...New makes sure she is ok and pays the 5k hospital bin. At home she notices her teerak is still up and he gets it all on the Line call…a relaxing cup of tea, quick hour of Thai TV and falls asleep on sofa.

Part Deux... Lock the house up, jump on the PCX and head downtown…roadworks on Klang are a pain and she finds her head nodding off waiting to pass the Sukhumvit lights. Park the wee Honda & into the bar, no customers yet. Nisa has opened the bar and stocked the fridge so a quick check of the billing and the Newbar night starts. Not a bad night and good to see new and old friends alike. One customer complains that he initially went to the centre bar in the complex and asked if it was Newbar which they told him it was. He chatted to Bambi then noticed New & the girls so moved. Bambi has now been sending him sms death threats saying if he barfines one of Newbar girls she would kill him. This has happened before…she goes over to Bambi, as her teerak has advised & tries to have a quiet word with her. Bambi sees her approaching, panics, swinging a punch. New forgets what the teerak says & piles in to a Ladyboy bar fight, clocks Bambi a few times…Bambi is a big unit these days but now scared and runs behind her bar, New follows, gets her in a headlock and says sa-top. Back to the bar and carry on… End of the evening circa 2:30 am, cashing up and putting all the girls tips and LD’s into small envelopes for them. Call from Soi 9 to go and report there as complaint made against her…

I'll get back on topic...this is a brief synopsis of actual events. Part 1 Doris awakes around midday…checks her Phone to see what drinks are required for the evening and sends the order to the Bond Shop for an afternoon delivery. Somtan fix required so quick sms to Aew and a pee and she’s up for the day. On the way downtown she stops at a photo shop to get a CD copy of the security camera footage required by the BiB to prove it’s working, photocopies of her licenses & pics for her Bar Owners application for another year…450 baht…quick frown as this was only previously 150 on Soi Buck so despite a smile to the Chinese lady she vows never to go back there. She swings by the market behind T21 and picks up some glassware for the bar…500 baht. Another market is visited and 200 thb of food for the girls, goes to bar, puts food in fridge for Bom to find and drops glassware and paperwork ready for the evening. Walk up to Soi Buck and deposit the nights previous nights takings in the big K, she notes her mortgage payment has just been taken out. Drops by the Big C to pay her monthly internet for the bar…700 barts. Head home to relax for a few hours…soon as she gets there an sms from Bom saying she is sick…3rd time in 2 weeks. Has another shower and put on the glad rags ’n slap and heads back to open bar…

Another Party... Ho Ho Ho ! New & the girls would like to welcome all to celebrate Christmas Eve at Newbar on Tuesday 24th December. Further details to follow

We were on a lower floor in the Urban next to the Avenue Residence which was fairly gloomy, it was also showing it's age as most of these units do. Furniture is old as were all the electrical stuff, toilets were pokey and had low water pressure. The room opposite across the Soi in the Residence had a couple of guys staying there who liked the odd spit roast on their balcony. Doris called it the Boom Boom room. City Garden wasn't too bad but as I said the units are small and 46 sqm with the same story with the amenities and it wasn't long before we were ready for another change. Doris liked the convenience of the location so I had to drag her kicking & screaming to Diamond Suites towards Jomtien. An incident with security there changed her mind. Someone tried to steal her bike and the guards did nothing and let them have access to the basements. The management got a good yakking when Doris and the BiB showed them the CCTV footage. She liked the extra room of Diamond Suites and the pool layout was better with a great balcony so she soon got used to it and didn't mind the extra 8 minutes on the bike.

I'm between the light and the dark...that is, still employed till the end of next month! I used to admire our old mate DC for having the personal dexterity, gravity & down to earth approach to life in Pattaya while I was previously always in 'fuck it I'm on holiday' mode. In the last 3 or 4 trips I've slowed my spend down without really thinking about it. I actually spend less than 1k on most days. Previous life in condo's for 3 years was a step up from hotels but I still couldn't stay in & relax. Moving to a house on the darkside was a wee bit of a revelation. Doris is happy to stay home, clean & potter in the garden while I can relax in front of the big box, browse the net or cook some food for her freezer when I'm away again. There are some great expat food stores around us who do some excellent ready made meals & pies for the freezer. I'm fond of their large Cornish pasties made from Tenderloin beef, enough for 2 of us served with some fresh veg & gravy for 90 baht. We have several large markets around us to cater for herself and plenty of fresh produce for me. We are not far from the lake which has an excellent cycle/walking/running path around it. Doris doesn't know it but she's getting a nice pushbike for her Xmas present. This will encourage her to get round the track and get rid of the belly which has magically appeared. A wee cat has adopted us though this will be discouraged as I caught the bastard scratching my nice new sofa & Persian rug. We picked up a large fish tank which initially Doris was unsure of but now enjoys feeding her new pets. I'd always thought the Condo route was the way to go but having been literally round the houses I now find the distinct separation from town a blessing in disguise. Most days we're back in the city but the 12 minute journey is no longer than it used to take us from Jomtien.
