  1. " the murder of JFK........" - it was Obama's fault. The Tea Party told me so.
  2. I talked to some of my conservative friends back in America. They blame it on Obama.
  3. Fucking classic! Thanks for sharing!
  4. ^But they're such nice tits! LMAO
  5. Welcome. I've resided in Thailand (Bangkok) for the last 10 years. To work here legally (and ya gotta be legal - the government is making it harder and harder to be an illegal drifter), you have basically two paths to follow: Get your self a job (in the US) with a multi-national corporation and get posted to Thailand, or Move here and become a teacher (which is pretty much the only profession legally open to us). You'll take a huge hit on the income going the teaching route. The only other profession open to foreigners is professional chef. Hope you can cook :)
  6. Darkside's hospitality was outstanding and the ladies were great. ตา was outstanding! I don't think I'll be able to sit for a few days LOL
  7. All right! Darkside opens at 6:00pm tonight. Who's "up" for a night there? I'll be there between 7:30-8:00.
  8. Hey Darkside Bar! you open tonight? I ask because of all the election BS. Please be open, I gotta get my groove on!
  9. I had a wonderful time when I went there. No one was pushy and the people were friendly. I am looking forward to my next visit there.
  10. Looks like it's time to see ตา again then :)
  11. well, I do have one complaint . . . need better quality wine there! LOL
  12. You should see my student's reaction to it LOL
  13. "By the way, she is referred to variously in this thread as "Guitar" and "Tar". " Ah, the Thai pronunciation of things. It's actually pronounced "Dthah" (ตา) - Thai has sounds English just doesn't have. But that's ok, because they butcher our names as well LOL
  14. Guitar is looking gooooooooood. I gotta go back soon!
  15. Other, less-publicized, scams to watch out for: The Thong Lo police - their favorite tactic is to pull you over (whether you're walking or in a taxi), demand to search you or your bag (or both) and suddenly find shitloads of drugs. Huge amounts of money will then be demanded in order for you to be "free." Way around it? Simply have your camera at the ready and start snapping photos. Even better, have your friends do it. Yes, it worked for me. If you need medical attention, DO NOT GO TO Police General Hospital or Phaya Thai Hospital. Their foreign rates are more expensive than most private hospitals. The BMA "police" are not police. They don"t carry guns. They cannot arrest you. They cannot demand your passport. And if they hold you, you can walk away.
  16. My apologies. I didn't know that.
  17. ^"Occupation" would be a better description.
  18. That's happened at least twice in the last five years and at two different schools. This was an advertisement for a wax museum display in Thailand. Translated, it means "Hitler didn't die."
  19. And don't forget the beggars scam - designed to support the police and local politicians.
  20. A great time was had! Thanks to the Darkside crew!
  21. I've been here in BKK for 10 years. The only "secret" method is a hefty bribe. Might as well journey on.
  22. I can answer this one. You have a 30-day entrance stamp, not a visa. A 30-day stamp cannot be extended within Thailand. If you take a "visa-run" company, all you will get is a 15-day entrance stamp (regulation change from 2012). You are limited to 3 15-day stamps. The alternative is to go to Laos and apply for a proper tourist visa. The cost at the Thai consulate in Vientiane is (if memory serves me correctly) 1900 baht (payable in baht, dollars, or kip). If you have any other questions, let me know.
  23. OK, I got a babysitter for my son. I am visiting Darkside tonight. I should be there between 7-7:30. I'll be the bald guy wearing the marijuana leaf motif shirt.
