  1. There are currently 5 LBs working at Candy Bar on 136(which has move a hundred feet or so since I was last here). Whether they are what a guy is looking for is up to personal taste I guess.
  2. I'll be in PP late this week for a short trip. I have asked guest houses before if guests are OK when I Email them about a possible reservation. I would say most non upscale places are OK about guests. But it doesn't hurt to ask.
  3. coco did they photo copy your ID? What brand did you get and how was the call quality? Mobitel (cellcard unlimited printed on SIM) use to be the only one that didn't sound like you were in an echo chamber.
  4. I never had a credit card problem with CP either. CP really seems to have bad times for BKK-PI flights. I hate arriving someplace I've never been at 1 AM. But a direct flight will be nice.
  5. I saw lots of Internet postings after the tsunami asking how it is pronounced as it seems us septics almost automatically pronounce PH as F.
  6. Here is the ATM finder link. Doesn't look too good in Pattaya: http://www.cimbthai.com/CIMB/en/locate_us/atm/5/20/136/ Although the address confuses me: 66/38 Moo 9, Soi Bua Khao, Pattaya Klang Road, Nong Prue,, Bang Lamung, Chon Buri Click on the pic to make it bigger.
  7. Could be worse, I'm suppose to be in PP during this time and now trying to rearrange my life.
  8. I was thinking about that a bit ago while I was out running. Although it is in the Cambo section I have modified the title.
  9. When you enable Tools > Options > Security > Block reported attack sites in Firefox cleaning cookies will not help. I have a program that cleans everything everyday and still got the warning. I wish I knew how to clean up getting the warnings after the site is fixed. But it took about two weeks for my warning to go away after the site was cleared. I believe Firefox checks another site for warnings. Maybe an IT geek understands how to fix the issue. Maybe it just goes away after one has logged in and clicked ignore enough times??? Mine eventually did FWIW.
  10. PT Taxi is 900 baht Pattaya - Swampy. All their prices are listed on their web site.
  11. "As a visitor, will you keep well away or join more than a million mourners on the streets of Phnom Penh?" http://www.travelfish.org/blogs/cambodia/2013/01/16/king-fathers-funeral-what-to-expect/
  12. I was getting warnings everytime I went to this forum on Firefox well after the problem here was reportedly fixed. However that finally stopped a few days ago. There seems to be some time lag between Firefox deciding the site is fixed and it being fixed. I just clicked on "ignor this warning" or whatever it says and I got no warnings from my virus software after entering.
  13. I've been using PT Taxi for a few years now. Since Mr. T became undependable/unavailable a few years ago for a while. Sounds like all is well now though.
  14. Hi Mr. EyeMahk. The map on Addicts seems a bit strange. It shows the soi to enter almost across from Soi 8. Which is where Soi New Plaza is located. It appears to me on Google Earth one needs to go one soi farther north on the east side of 2nd Road? Almost across from Soi 7 or farther?
  15. Restaurante Italiano?? Small dead end soi nearly opposite the medical center on Buakhao?? Past Rouge Apartments??
  16. IMO: I scarfed this info from another board. The Avenue where CWOW is located had some interesting lease arrangements. It had a big makeover that is still in progress or in some case just starting. The entrance to Villa will be in the back at some point. But they are having trouble with some that hold old leases as they were poorly written. CWOW was reportedly shut down because they owe a lot of baht for services. Supposidly another gym is trying to take over the space and come out with possession of all the equipment. I guess gyms shouldn't be any different in Pattaya than bars...
  17. I know several pissed off people with life memberships as Tony has closed some past facilities. Tony's campground in Pattaya wasn't a winner either.
  18. I didn't recognize it either and had been there twice. I may have eventually recognized the building next to Drinking Street but Sherlock ciobha got it really fast as usual.
  19. I read one review that said "The groomer's clipper heads need to be used carefully in private areas and can nick the skin if not handled carefully." Be careful out there (and pull that loose skin area tight).
  20. I haven't had much problems getting taxis to use the meter. There are usually lots of taxis running up and down Sukhumvit with no passengers. I've flagged them down just for a short trip up Sukhumvit and the fare has been the base 35 baht plus 5 baht. Maybe I've been lucky but this all seems a bit strange to me.
  21. About the only predictable thing about the future is it's unpredictability. I still haven't seen one of those three wheel cars that were always on the front of car magazines. After going to the moon in the 60s it seemed manned space flight exploration would continue to other planets (aka 2001: A Space Odyssey). Maybe Hal turned out to be Siri...
  22. I wonder what classifies as no activity. I login online from time to time. DT I've been using a credit union for over 30 years. They are the ones that charge me $40. :-(
  23. I think there is a Kasikorn Bank not far past the Landmark Hotel as you walk down Sukhumvit from Soi 4 past the Landmark. There is an outdoor area with a exchange booth and cash machines. Just beyond that there is a small K Bank inside a larger building. There is also one in the building on the SE corner of Asoke and Sukhumvit. You can get to that building without going down to the ground, and having to cross the street, via the Asoke skytrain platform. Not familure with the one Kahuna mentioned but there are quite a few around. Note: Kasikorn has Thailand divided in several service areas. If you use your card at an ATM outside your home area there will be a small service charge. Something like 10 baht for up to a 10k baht withdrawal and a bit more for more than 10k. At least that use to be the fee, it's been a while. There is/was also a fee for depositing outside you home service area. Assuming this is still true it's best to open your account at a K Bank in the town where you spend the most time/money. I opened my account in Pattaya and get charged the fees in BKK, Patong and Hua Hin. They do love their fees... This probably doesn't need to be said but your Kasikorn ATM/Debt card can be used to purchase items at stores just like a debit card anywhere else in the world. And apparently someone (Thai) using your card doesn't need to know your pin at a store (they do at an ATM). Don't ask me why I know this. But protect your card just as you would any other credit card, etc. DT who is your bank? I have two bank account and they charge $40 and $50 for international transfers. I need to find a cheaper way. The only time I transfered funds they also arrived in my account the next day.
  24. A couple of doors farther down from World of Karaoke is Maggie May pub. Quaffed a fair bit of Guinness there, at reasonable prices compared to other place, over the years.
