That's just brilliant, sustra2. Agree completely with KenW's comments.
  2. I basically agree with all of the above. It doesn't hurt to check out the location of the bars (can do on here) and ask advice, and have a vague plan in the back of your mind, but leave it there and enjoy your trip. We've all been first-timers once; try to relax and as Archie says, go with the flow. All the best for your trip, Scott40.
  3. These days I'm comfortable either way, but if with someone it has to be a good mate; not just a bloke I don't really know well.
  4. We've really hi-jacked this thread, haven't we? Still, makes better reading than "Sub. Lt. Development ..." in the translation. I have to admit I couldn't have told you who starred as Quincy Adams, but I enjoyed the show at the time, for sure.
  5. Quincy Adams ME; in it's day in Australia it was compulsory viewing in our house. We got so many shows from USA in those days. Better than some of the rubbish on now, actually. Anyway, I'm sure he would've solved the case, even caught the villain too, and for the finale would've revised the translation to tidy up the loose ends. It will be interesting to see the real outcome of the investigation.
  6. That's the most sensible comment in all of this. When I read the first post I thought it must have been a joke - obviously not - except for the horrible translation.
  7. When I was in Papua New Guinea some years ago with the army, advertisements for San Mig beer were something like: "Happiness is a Big Red Cock". I must admit I was quite happy, even without the "Big". So, Happy Chinese New Year to all.
  8. It's really not that scary - keep an open mind. But the whole point is to enjoy your time, and if bars are your scene, then that's fine too. Don't let anyone force you into anything you're not comfortable with; just relax and enjoy. Good luck with your adventures, Spacebar.
  9. Never quite caught up with the modern world. I have a dumb phone (for making telephone calls), a notebook (with actual pages in it for writing on) and a couple of biros (ball point pens). Security and theft become less of a problem. If I got really desperate there is always an internet cafe.
  10. Well I'm really pissed off for you, SP, and for Dao too of course. I hope business at Zaza is extra good now, and hopefully you can sort something out when you're on the ground. Roll along February, eh?
  11. God, or someone, is paying me back for joking about lack of rain. Here in Phitsanulok it rained about 3 hours yesterday, and it's just started again now. Still warm though. Sorry for the people down south at present.
  12. Up here in Phitsanulok we had maybe 20 drops of rain the other day. We had a short, really cold snap mid December (socks in bed and blankets; and eating breakfast in jeans and jumpers (pullovers)), but now the days are mostly sunny and hot, with nights a bit cooler. One of the locals told me that summer will come early this year.
  13. Welcome to the forum. You've certainly kick-started my motor; just a shame it's such an old model. But best wishes for a great visit to Thailand in May, and I hope you get all your wishes fulfilled.
  14. The lovely Jiet indeed. Thanks SP. And in real life she is even more lovely. A New Year visit to Zaza is a must do.
  15. Double Pricing is wrong, wrong, wrong!!!.My lady and I went to a waterfall in Petchabun recently, and theofficer charged us both at the local rate, until her assistant said "no, he farang" and they hit some ridiculous figure. I told her to shove her waterfall (I couldn't help myself) so the dual pricing kept a Thai from seeing it too. Rather disappointed that my lady couldn't see my point of view. I'd also been to a barber who wanted to charge 100 baht for a 50 baht haircut. I told him I live in Thailand, my hair grows in thailand and he only has to cut that portion off. His answer: "100 baht".I did not reply - just went elsewhere. I should write a book, so I'll stop here. As some Aussies might say: fair suck of the sav.
  16. There's a line from a song by Gomez: "..chasing after something that has already been sold .." that came to mind when I read this topic. I don't think I've ever done it myself, though I have admired one or two that have been with someone. I prefer to choose from the available, rather than try to cut someone's grass.
  17. I went A as well; might have been the way she was adjusting it. But if seconds were allowed then B C and D in random order.
  18. Okay, bad choice of a word. Sorry to have upset you. Let's leave it at that in case I say something about somewhere else / someone else.
  19. I must have got excited (again) as I made a comment about Zaza massage on Liza's thread. Sorry, so if you want to move it , it's okay. What I'm saying though is that Zaza Massage is great and I'd recommend it to anyone.
  20. I've been to Zaza, and am already planning my next trip down. Yes, it is clean and well kept. And I spent an unforgettable afternoon, evening and night with the lovely Jiet. Dao and all the staff seem to care about the customers, and I can only agree with SP's comments. Well worth a visit.
  21. Sadly his passing marks the end of an era.
  22. I basically agree with all the above, especially the having to move / get a cue in the face. But I have gone into a bar when it's been quiet, and playing pool is an option to kill a bit of time while waiting for friends, or for more talent to arrive.
  23. Bloody hell! Won't be playing pool on that table for a while.
  24. I'm not in Bangkok just now, and may not be for a while yet, but if the photos are a guide, and the "no pressure" attitude as well, then Why not seems the place to be - and the very best of luck to all at Why not
  25. Thanks SP. If Jiet can hold a card for me for now, it's just another reason to come down again. I meant to say that I saw some of the ZAZA staff on my last visit, and they were all pleasant and attractive; but for me Jiet is something special.
