PDogg, I think you are correct - this may be the first all postop bar, at least in Bangkok. In Patpong King's Corner is still a mix of postops and ggs, while King's Castle 3 is a mix of preops and postops. I am not sure about other places in Thailand as some of the small bars may have all postops and no one knows about it. BodySurfer, good to know there is at least one other post-op fan here! Keep in mind they are trying to "pass" as ggs, so they may not admit it, and of course the mamasan will deny it as well. A reliable source has informed me that Voodoo Bar in NEP has sent the remainder of their gg staff packing and replaced them with postop lbs. Apparently the good looking ggs have left for greener pastures (like Soi Cowboy). The remaining below average looking ggs have not been good for business. The thinking is that the better looking postop lbs will bring in more customers. Time will tell if this strategy will work. Just some advice - hopefully she is not going by herself, as a friend is necessary to help her with post op care. Lefty, I think you are correct - I think it was also mostly lb freelancers who were working there. I think a more interesting question is who is planning to open the lb bar. Most of the lb bars in NEP are owned by the group that has Cascade and Obsessions - who also own the gg Hollywood Bars. If this is the same group planning to open on Soi Cowboy, it may give more credence to the on-going rumors that NEP will be demolished.

This subject has been well discussed on other boards - the main gist of the thinking is that NEP is on a prime piece of real estate and sooner or later the owners will sell to developers when the price is right. On the flip side of this are the owners of the hotels and businesses in the Sukhumvit area that realize that NEP is a big tourist draw and if it was replaced with another hotel, shopping plaza that business would drop. So the NEP owners are apparently being courted by the businesses to continue operations. Will be interesting to see what happens as the current Pheu Thai party will likely attempt to carry out the former Thai Rak Thai policy on "cleaning" up LOS and promote it as a family destination, rather than a sex tourist destination.

Registering with your embassy while working or retired in a foreign country is a very good idea. If something happened like civil unrest or natural disaster you may be able to be evacuated should it be necessary.

Have to disagree with you on a couple of points - the EC rules were not only from the junta and the Democrats - remember the PPP were in power as well - and a number of the EC rules were put in place by them as well (formerly TRT). All in all, I am afraid that Thaksin will revert to his old ways and cause more chaos - his only real intent was not to help the poor people of Thailand but to recoup his frozen assets and to build up his empire again. Time will tell if the "elite" and the poor people will see through his agenda.

Contrary to many opinions out there, the Election Commission does take its job seriously - they have already dismissed the frivolous claims - but they must take the time to look into them if a complaint is submitted. The serious claims against Yingluck - that she has been advised by banned politicians, including her brother, could indeed jeopardize her candidacy. What is telling is that the banned Pheu Thai/Thai Rak Thai politicians KNOW these rules and were still rather blatant in their involvement. Makes me feel that a. they are very arrogant or b. they have a fix in to win regardless or c. both of the previous. There have been some interesting letters to the editor in both Bangkok Post and The Nation claiming that "bullying" was occurring in Isaan and Northern Thailand so any Democrat supporter/voter was intimidated not to vote for the Democrats. Unfortunately I doubt if any investigations will be made.

PD, thanks for the comments. Lung, certainly the Chiang Mai Reds are extremely active against LBGT having disrupted the last couple of annual parades in Chiang Mai. Thanks for your insights - I am saddened that there is still such intolerance especially in the North. If things get worse with Pheu Thai now in power, it will be a reversal of the last few years of progress. Actually it is common for an lb to spend some time at a temple - my current gf and her friends do it at least once or twice a year (like PD's gf) dressed in white to meditate and learn from the head monk.

Here's an interesting article from Associated Free Press This is surprising to me as I didn't think Thailand had such programs. With the recent win by Pheu Thai, it will be interesting to see how this program expands, as Thaksin didn't have a favorable disposition to LBs when he was in power.
