  1. Yeah, that's the one. I used to walk through the connecting alley by the Norwegian Bar then turn left in Soi 2 to Beach Road going back to condo from Katty Bar. The Red Carpet Bar and the smaller lb bar did seem to have mainly gay customers. The performers at parties at Red Carpet Bar were from the cabaret at 'The Venue' in the Jomtien Complex. The smaller LB bar also seemed to have mainly gay customers, Thai and farang. I only stopped in there once. I was passing on my way back to condo. There was only one lb there sitting with a couple, European guy and Thai gg. The European was quite drunk and aggressive, and arguing loudly with the gg. The lb looked apprehensive, so I went in and sat as far as possible away in a small bar to get her away from them. When she came over to get my order I invited her to join me for a drink. Her name was Dao. She said she had previously worked at Roadhouse Bar, and had seen me around. The arguing couple continued shouting at each other. From time to time one or the other would get up and walk out, then return to continue the argument. At one point the European guy climbed onto his bar stool to shout at the soi that he wasn't gay as he had never had a 'prick up his arse'! I was impressed that he could stand on the stool without falling off in his state of inebriation. I waited until they left (together) before leaving.
  2. Sunny is currently working as a waitress in a relative's restaurant in Chiang Rai. But she says she is bored and is still planning to return to Jomtien at the end of the month. But that is three weeks away, so her plans could change again, who knows? Probably not Sunny! She might decide to join the Army when she goes for her assessment on 25th!
  3. There are parties with live singers and performers occasionally at weekends at the bar near the Beach Road end of Soi 3. I can't remember the name of the bar (Red Carpet Bar?). The singers and performers are mainly lbs, from a ladyboy cabaret - not sure but I think the Alcazar Cabaret in Pattaya. I used to stop off for a drink or two on my way to Katty Bar when they had a show on. A couple of units up from that bar is a small bar with two or three ladyboys.

Now the Prez has worn a mask in public for the first time hopefully his supporters won't take it as a sign of weakness to wear one too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-53378439

    Coronavirus

Sadly a lot of people do, encouraged by 'leaders' like Trump. And may pay the ultimate price like this guy. Unfortunately they are also going to infect others.
  6. After my first visit I did go to Cuba again I think three times for Winter beach holidays. I didn't know anything about ladyboys then. I was approached by young women offering 'pokey pokey'. But I didn't take them up on it. I regret that in a way now.
  7. I went to Cuba about a year after the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc collapsed. I had a romantic view of Cuba - I had the iconic portrait of Che Guevara on my bedroom wall when I was 15. I wanted to see it before it collapsed too which I thought would happen as Cuba had been dependent on the Soviet Union for much of their imports including food, petrol and medicines. When I went there were shortages of just about everything as the lack of supplies from Russia were compounded by the US economic blockade. But though there was little food in the shops the people were healthy because of rationing, meaning everyone got the basic essentials, usually supplemented by growing vegetables, keeping chickens and pigs, and fishing. Also the Cuban Health Service was great for what is a 'Third World Country'. They had more doctors per head of population than most, if not all, other countries in the world. Infant mortality rates were lower than Washington DC. Nobody wore glasses as they could get corrective eye surgery. A lot had to be improvised as they could not buy medicines because the US would impose sanctions on any country that traded with them. Their education system meant all children went to school, and could go to university if they wanted to. You don't see anyone sleeping on the streets, they get public housing even if a lot of the older housing is run down, again mainly due to being unable to get building materials because of the US blockade. I wouldn't want to live there, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, including Thailand. I like London. If I had to I would choose Cuba over most other Caribbean countries. At least they usually get the basics to live which the majority in most Third World Countries don't. And they are still surviving.
