  1. I won't be attending either. Even if the pool party was being held 2 minutes walk from where I live I still wouldn't go as that style of event personally doesn't appeal to me. I certainly wouldn't trudge all the way over to the the cocco resort for the privilege. With the LBWVB being a well established and ongoing charitable event, as opposed to the Pool Party being .. just a pool party, it seems to me to be a bit spiteful to set the date of the pool party so close to the established LBWVB charity event. Guys who may only have the energy to attend one daytime event may cause some charities to miss out as non-charity pockets get lined instead. Unless, of course, the Pool Party profits are intended on being put towards charities as well, in which case I look forward to the beneficiaries being announced and a transparent set of accounts and an audit soon after. This may all have been announced already but I don't pay attention on the other forum as I won't be attending anyway, but still curious to know who benefits. Having said all that I would not boycott any of the participating bars on either side just for the sake of it, but rather look forward to many or any evening parties at bars which I enjoy visiting anyway.
  2. I had a pleasant visit to the Bangkok Bank ATM opposite the site other day. For once I didn't feel I had plethora of pupils focused on my pert posterior.
  3. I'd imagine loading a motorbike onto a speedboat or taking one with you on the ferry back to the mainland would raise a few eyebrows, as well as suspicions
  4. Yes, it is a building site. Nothing remains of what we once knew.

  6. I had a chinese takeaway a few days ago too. Hopefully a report of a bedraggled Chinese family appearing from the jungle appears in the news soon.
  7. I plan on attending later on this evening. Hopefully will see some fellow forumites there too
  8. I lost faith in Kasikorn Bank and decided a few years ago I would never put any more money their way again. Thieving bastards. Back when I first moved to Pattaya, about a week before I departed from the UK, I transferred £10,000 to my Kasikorn Bank account which I'd had for about 4 years. Upon arrival in Bangkok I checked at a Kasikorn ATM and although it accepted my PIN it told me to "Contact your branch". Upon arrival in Pattaya a few days later I checked at an ATM again and the same happened, so I visited a branch. They checked my account on their system then told me "Sorry Sir, account closed", followed by a stupid Thai smile which meant I don't really care. There was a sum of money still in the account before it closed although not a lot, perhaps in the region of 4 or 5 thousand Baht which was either lost or stolen by them, whichever way you wish to look at it. Perhaps it was account inactivity or secret insurance which had drained the account and that was the reason it was closed. There was no explanation, just smiles and ineptitude. TiT. So who knows? About 3 weeks later and after considerable concern the funds eventually arrived back in my UK bank account, minus fees, naturally. Apart from the worry, inconvenience, plus the total cost to send my money for a 3-week jaunt around the world cost me almost £100 in fees. Add that to the money thieved and that's what's pissed me off with them. In the meantime I was stupid enough to open a new account with Kasikorn and after a while discovered money slowly disappearing. Later I found that to be this secret hidden insurance I never knew I had. I still have that account but it won't last long as I withdrew everything bar about B40. Hence my desire to open-up a new account with Bangkok Bank, which I have now done and funds transferred from home have since been received. 9. I wanted to open another Thai bank account and did so about a month ago with Bangkok Bank. The branch in Central Festival would not proceed as I didn't have the necessary form from immigration, so I made my way over to the Buakhao branch (opposite Pook Swan) where they set me up with an account there and then and I got my Be1st Smart Card and bank book. I took with me the following; Passport, Driver's License, 12 month's worth of apartment receipts, a 3BB invoice with my address written in Thai and some money to deposit. They didn't really look at much other than my passport. Because I'd had issues with Kasikorn Bank in the past I wanted to confirm a number of things with Bangkok Bank, which were; no hidden or unwanted insurance and/or costs, and how low could my balance drop before the account could potentially close. It was confirmed the low limit was B2,000 and no insurance costs would be incurred (unlike Kasikorn with their hidden insurance which I didn't even know I had). So far so good. http://www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBank/PersonalBanking/Pages/Default.aspx - - - Just as a point of interest, when you add up all your ATM fees when using your home bank's ATM card in Thailand, compared to the total fees incurred for transferring money via SWIFT from your home bank to your Thai bank, the sum involved before you begin to benefit can be quite substantial. In my case, a transfer in the region of £4,000 is required before it becomes worthwhile. If you plan on physically carrying cash into Thailand in order to deposit into your Thai bank account (preferably via other exchange booths) be aware that the maximum allowed (undeclared) is $10,000, or €10,000, or equivalent. Bring a bank receipt for the cash withdrawal with you for any reasonable sum is my advice, plus request bank notes of decent condition.
  10. Anyone been with a thalidomide ladyboy? ~ Back in 1998 in Pattaya I did. I didn't realise at first due to her disguising the fact but in the room it became obvious quickly. She had great legs and was very pretty, so that was enough for me not to renege on the initial arrangement and the necessary deed was duly done at the Flipper Lodge. I liked her, but I never saw her again.
  11. I knew I'd forgotten something
  12. I both like and dislike BA but with me it's simply price that wins, or at least it used to be. If flights with EVA and BA matched in price I would book with EVA. BA was the cheapest for similar dates last year too. I was pissed off with British Airways in both directions this time around and this is why: On both occasions on both legs of the trip I was online 24 hours in advance ready to check-in immediately I was able to do so. Seconds into the 24-hour check-in period 90%+ of the seats were already taken yet there's no way all that could have been done in those first few seconds, so I must assume those people paid the £28 extra fee to reserve their desired seat further in advance. The seat I always try and book is always at the very rear of any section, i.e. with no-one behind me, I don't care about limited recline, and preferably in a corner. All these seats are considered poor by seatguru.com, but not by me. The out-going flight at BKK when checking in my baggage the lady said they were changing my seat due to the entertainment system not working, I got an aisle seat a few rows forward of that and endured a small child's feet regularly in my back during the flight. Little cunt. The return flight from LHR I'd again checked in online seconds after the 24 hour window became available, again 90%+ of seats were already reserved. I chose the exact same seat I chose on the first leg and if that not very entertaining entertainment system still wasn't working I'd tell them it didn't matter and to keep the seat. I got my boarding pass confirming for my chosen seat. Down at the boarding gate I was informed that due to a family reshuffle I had again lost my seat choice and although was moved to a seat nearby without anyone behind me it was a bad seat because everyone passing used it as a grab rail and my sleep was regularly disturbed. Those changes fucked me off and I may not use British Airways anymore purely based on seat reshuffles. Food and all the rest of it was fine, the entertainment system was poor compared to EVA. I only want to book direct flights and the only other option is Thai Airways but they have priced themselves way out of contention over recent years. I may pay the extra for EVA in future, I'll have to see, but I cannot recall ever having a poor flight with them and on the one occasion my seat choice was changed I was upgraded to the next class, not to a shittier seat like with BA.
  13. The girls in Lita Bar are so frustratingly tempting. If anywhere where to make me a bad boy it would be there. Just imagine walking in there when it's quiet. Slapping a few thousand baht on the counter. Lita kindly drops a cushion on the floor for my knees. All girls line up facing the bar, all standing on tippy-toes. All skirts lifted and all shorts and panties dropped to ankles. My tongue is then given free reign and the best work-out ever of it's post-frenulotomy until a warm deposit is made on the back of someone's lucky legs. Followed by a few cold beers and a few cuddles. How utterly delightful.
  14. I seem to remember being told that booking 59 days prior to your intended flight date was the optimum time to book. I often make numerous checks and keep notes on prices from around 70 days in advance and would tend to agree that between 55 and 60 days is the best. My recent two-week trip back to the UK of a return flight BKK-LHR at the end of July was quoted on 19/5/2015 as £607 (British Airways) or £613 EVA. Due to an unforeseen delay of one week for the return of my passport for my annual visa my actual booking was delayed until the 28/5/2015, but the price had reduced with British Airways from £607 to £563.70, so I snapped that up. Every cloud etc..
  15. Answer = C If C was wearing white then D would have said black, but he said nothing. D's choice was the same as A & B's (50/50), so his silence revealed the answer to C. Nice conundrum
  16. Anyone can pay for sex with a prostitute, that's too easy. How many girls NOT including prostitutes?
  17. As one so erudite as yourself I'm more than a little shocked that didn't appear to have recognised that the title of the show is a proper noun, as opposed to a common noun. Mr.Robot has appeared in every episode so far. Yours, Disappointed of Central Pattaya
  18. I bet you're gutted you're not here for it
  19. For the Monty Hall question imagine an exaggerated scenario where you have 100 doors and there were goats behind 99 and a car behind one. The theory is the same as the 3 door version. You pick one door. 98 doors are then opened to reveal goats, leaving your original door plus one other. Initially your door choice was made with 100 to choose from = 1/100 Sticking gives you a 1/100 chance Switching gives you a 99/100 chance - - - The 3 door version: Sticking gives you a 1/3 chance Switching gives you a 2/3 Switching gives you better odds.
  20. I don't really want to get involved in this, but I will Although I can see where others are coming from, I agree with LBB. It's all about semantics. Taking the question literally gives odds of 1 in 2, 50/50, heads or tails, one flip of the remaining coin.
  21. Correct Mr.LB Bar. I had a suspicion it would be you who gave the answer I had in mind Naturally it was the P&O references beforehand which brought the question to mind, perhaps that might've made the answer easier but if you know it you know it and I suspect you knew it anyway. I've always liked the "port out, starboard home" answer although apparently it is not proven, but it's a nice theory.
  22. Why are posh people called posh.. What is the origin of the word 'posh'?
  23. "Perhaps something got lost in translation." It's extremely amateurish and sloppy to use such a generic term for something which is specific. We know what they mean, but that is not what was stated in the report by Thai PBS English News.. When it comes to laws and immigration rules words and wording within statements need to be exact and correct so no manipulation or misunderstanding can occur, on either side. I've lost trust.
