  1. That brings back fond memories of what used to draw me toward Soi 6 during the early hours when I was a singleton Did you cast your vote?
  2. Kill joy Us stinky tobacco smokers seemed to have got away with that one, but most of the guys I know who smoke are considerate towards those who don't partake, or at least we try. Please don't berate us too severely if we forget The shishas weren't a bad thing when they were pretty much confined to Soi 16 and surrounds, but then they became mobile and are common place almost everywhere, especially beer bars. That mobility happened quickly over the last few years. Tobacco collects taxes for the government, so they don't want to kill that nice little earner off completely.
  3. No correction required Boot, you're right. .. but in addition, the statement said "... an immediate ban on the sale and use of Shisha in entertainment venues". Did anyone here partake and will they miss it?
  4. District Officials confirm ban on the sale and use of Shisha in Pattaya http://pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/199423/district-officials-confirm-ban-on-the-sale-and-use-of-shisha-in-pattaya/ I can't say that I'm disappointed, I'm sure a few other guys will be pleased at this news too. Even as a smoker I didn't like it, primarily due to the contraption itself being so hot and often placed right beside you should your bar neighbour decide on a fruity puff. I doubt the Arabs are happy about it. It was only a matter of time before someone got badly burned by the tray of hot coals, if they hadn't already.
  5. I'm sure Bell Travel Service would set up a bus (or minibus) service once it becomes viable. I prefer them over any other option to get me to and from Bangkok Int'l Airport. I flew into U-Tapao once on a 747 during the Suvarnabhumi take-over 7 years ago, then shared a taxi into Pattaya central with a fellow traveler I met inside the arrivals hall. Best and speediest journey I've ever made into the Land of Smiles and that included baggage collection and customs as there was literally no-one there. It looked horrendous for those departing passengers though due to the sheer numbers, the feeder road to the airport was gridlocked for at least a kilometer. We had to walk 4 or 500 metres away from the airport to meet the ride as he couldn't get any closer. The plane was virtually empty all the way in, intended more for getting people out rather than in, at the time.
  6. Either by luck or design Karl and Lita brought the best of everything together at the right time. Karl providing forum updates and music, Lita keeping check on the girls and providing a seemingly endless supply of new and cute faces for our delight. It was the go to bar for parties at the time too. Of course great and memorable bars existed pre-Ezy, but with well established forums, friendships and the sociability factor in place it formed some very memorable times. A clash of highs pre-smartphone era. Times I am very happy to have experienced along with many of you.
  7. If spending any length of time in either of the two bars mentioned Sensations would certainly be the most preferable due to numerous points mentioned already by others. Sensations has a nice open feel with through air and working fans making it a far more pleasant experience. There are friendly and pretty girls in both venues but a bar's overall appeal comprises of far more than the sum of its component parts, even if you're happy when one particular part is not in attendance. I'm probably biased anyway as Sensations is my favourite bar and by quite some margin. The comparison between the two venues is very one sided for many reasons. Scott is very friendly and likeable too. One killer night does not make a summer.

Yep, it's sliding off-topic, c'est la vie Although I enjoy movies immensely I've shifted more towards downloadable TV shows over the last few years. They're nothing like they used to be many years ago when I was a nipper, more like movie marathons in more manageable sizes these days and they're easy availability is ideal. More often than not finding the time to invest 2 or 3 hours of any given day to a single movie has become a bit much. Whereas watching a 50 minute (or one hour) episode from a good TV series is far more acceptable, even if I then choose to immediately watch the next episode straight after, then the next. Perhaps it's something about committing that length of time in one chunk with all the other media and online distractions available which are close at hand.

I concur. On first viewing I was disappointed with the direction I thought the second season was taking, but it all came together in the end. It is certainly the more difficult of the 5 seasons to re-watch. Being a Brit I knew Hugh Laurie for decades prior to his success with House. I loved House, some seasons far more than others, but his American accent always impressed me immensely. I did chuckle when I heard at one of his first award winnings for House people (Americans) were wondering why he was talking funny. I suppose only poor attempts at another accent tend to get noticed, whereas excellent attempts at accents go by unnoticed, unless you happen to know. I'm not just saying this but I cannot recall ever hearing an American do an even half decent English accent on-screen. It seems whenever they do it's a pompous style of British accent, rather than an every day people's accent. Regional accents are great, I wish I could do a decent Geordie Among all these sensible TV shows, is it OK to mention The Big Bang Theory? ~ An enjoyable way to spend a very entertaining 22 minutes from time to time. Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) is my favourite, he does some great impressions too.

My favourite all-time TV show is The Wire. I've watched all 5 seasons twice and will watch again in the future. I was actually stunned at the time when I discovered two of the actors were not American but were English. Idris Elba and Dominic West. Brilliant American accents as far as this fellow Englishman is concerned.
  12. B190,000+ worth of valuables stolen?! Receipts? Sounds a bit shitty to me. What a load of codswallop!

  14. Looking on the bright side .. It's nice to know Ying keeps herself abreast of current opinion and news on this forum. Surprised she found the time considering she's a newlywed. Perhaps the honeymoon's over
  15. I've had two seasons of Person of Interest sat on my hard drive for what seems like an eternity. After I ran the excellent House of Cards dry I decided to give PIO a go .. I'm loving it and have now downloaded seasons 3 and 4 too Just starting season 2 now and going by Xy's assessment above it looks like there's still plenty more to look forward to I love having season's worth available at a time so I can pig-out on a good show.

Many thanks Kahuna. I showed her the clip above and within 2 seconds she said she's seen it already! I'm now downloading Avengers - Age of Ultron (2015) for her instead

It seems to be listed on IMDB as Kuan meun ho (2010) ~ Assuming that's the film you're referring to. I did some searching on the various torrent sites but came out empty-handed. Do you have a link please Kahuna? ~ My other half watches a lot of movies and it's becoming more and more difficult to find stuff for her watch. Movies keep her quiet, at least for a while, or until it's time for tea
  18. I bet all the over 50's here have dropped some jizz over the ABBA girls at some stage in their lives. I know I have .. and Bucks Fizz too
  19. The last of Letterman if anyone missed it and wants to see it .. Torrent here
  20. It's a very good price, but Etihad means a stop-over along the way. I'm often renowned for watching the pennies, but I always pay the extra and fly non-stop.
