Farangs Gang Rape Dutch Tourist In Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

CHIANG MAI – February 25, 2013]; a report of a tourist being gang raped by three foreigners was received by Chiang Mai police. The victim was identified as “Ms. Collina” (alias), 23 years old, a Dutch tourist. She told police that she got raped by a Caucasian and his two friends, who left her in the hotel room afterwards.

Ms. Collina testified that she had come to travel in the north of Thailand. On the night of Feb 24, she was drinking in a bar on Loykroh road. Then a foreign man, “Mr. Thomas,” came along and asked to drink with her, until she got drunk. Then Mr. Thomas took her to a guest house in the Rakang road area, where they had sexual intercourse.

Afterwards, two friends of Mr. Thomas came in, and they asked to join in the sex. Ms. Collina tried to protest, but because she was drunk and they were three men, she could not fight them. So she got gang raped and then she passed out. When she woke up, she was naked and the three men had left.

An update:

he two Danish men who were arrested in Chiang Mai, charged of raping a 23-year-old Dutch tourist have now been released. Yesterday, February 28, the court decided to release the young Danes on bail until March 12, where they will have to appear in court. It is unknown whether the accused are still in Chiang Mai but their passports have been seized to prevent them from leaving the country.

The police arrested the two Danes while they were floating on a raft in the stream to see the scenery in Mawang, Chiang Mai. The men were arrested and taken to the police station, where they denied the accusations. The suspects refused to answer any questions or make any statements to police.

The incident was first reported to police on February 25 by the 23-year-old victim, a Dutch tourist, who came to the police station that morning at 8 a.m., said Pol. Lt. Col. Saipin Tijjarat, the detective officer of Muang Chiang Mai provincial police.

The victim said she had come to visit Chiang Mai alone for several days. On the night of February 24, she went to a bar, and while she was drinking there, at about 11 p.m. she met a Danish man,  and began talking to him. Later they both went to his room 302 on the 3rd floor, in Chiang Mai city.

When they reached his room, his two Danish friends were already there. Then the three men subdued and raped her, until each man had reached orgasm, without her consent. She could not fight against the three men, and then she passed out. When she woke up in the morning, the three men had gone. So she went out to notify to the police and also inform the embassy.

Pol. Col. Aksorn said there are three suspects in the rape case, and they know the identity of the third suspect. The police are now waiting for evidence to file a request to the court for a warrant.

Leaving aside the question of guilt or innocence for a moment.........if you are accused of a serious crime, and your passport is confiscated, is it better to stay and fight the charges, or sneak across the border and try to get a new passport from your embassy?

Another update:

The Allegations

According to the police report, the 23-year-old Dutch had come to visit Chiang Mai alone for several days. She told the police that on the night of February 25, she went to a bar, and while she was drinking there, at about 11 p.m. she met a Danish man, and began talking to him. Later they both went to his room 302 on the 3rd floor, in Rajchiangsaan district.

When they reached his room, his two Danish friends were already there. The three men then allegedly subdued and raped her, until each man reached orgasm. She could not fight against the three men and passed out. When she woke up in the morning, the three men had gone. So she went to notify the police and also informed the embassy.

Truth or Fiction?

But the accounts taken by the guesthouse security cameras and its staff tell otherwise. “We saw (on the cameras) that around midnight Thomas and the victim walked into the compound. About an hour later, the victim came down while talking on the phone. She then fell down in front of our front door,” says Ramrada, pointing out the contradiction in the victim’s testament that she woke up alone in the room in the morning.

“After she collapsed she even told our guy who worked here at night to send her home.”

Ramrada says security cameras also confirmed that there’s another lady in the room. “Kasper brought a Chinese lady to the room before Thomas and the victim came in. After the victim left, it showed Kasper walking the Chinese lady back to her place in town.” But that very fact was not mentioned in the victim’s report to the police and the unidentified lady had traveled back to her country soon after the incident.

One fact that is also perplexing to Ramada and the staff is the existence of the other suspect. “We haven’t seen the picture of the other man involved. It was their first time in Chiang Mai and even though we had other Danish male tourists at the time, it was very unlikely that they were involved in this,” she says.

“I’m trying to be neutral here. Because I’m also a woman. But our staff can guarantee that the suspect and victim were walking into our compound in consent.”

The incident was first reported to police on February 25 by the 23-year-old victim, a Dutch tourist, who came to the police station that morning at 8 a.m., said Pol. Lt. Col. Saipin Tijjarat, the detective officer of Muang Chiang Mai provincial police.
