What's with the recent surge in new BMs who start a thread, make the OP and never come back?

Recommended Posts

In the past few days there have been far too many such new threads where a new member makes the OP and never comes back to be a coincidence.  Yet they are well-drafted plausible OPs.  Is it IA or someone with too much time on his hands.?  How/Who stands to gain from making such frivolous posts?  Why after the OP (spam or legit) they never come back to engage the BMs who follow up?

The other thing we are seeing in this board is random, inactive BMs, all of a sudden getting dozens of likes in a single day as recorded in the daily leaderboard.  How come bots give likes ?  Is there no daily limit for giving likes?

I know it's hard on admins to keep up with all the spamming... and sometimes we get a glimpse of it before the admin whacks the spammers ...

just wondering

Just figured it was ladyboy curious lurkers who tried making A post mixed with some apathy.

I very much appreciate the few members who take the time to share reports and info.  Would love to see more engagement on Lady boy and other topics.  Most of my mongering has been and still is with women.  I have less (ladyboy) to share than most members I think.  If anyone whos shy but wants to ask anything you can pm me.  Although I'm sure there are more qualified members to msg than myself.

I noticed these posts too.  I think it's AI.  But what's the motivation?   It could be training AI.

Or it could be a way to get off moderated status so spam can be posted in the future.

To prevent spam, soon after joining, the majority of new members are put on moderated status.  It's not automatic because we don't want to discourage new real posters. I hate it when my first post on a forum doesn't appear.  Many new signups have forum names which just don't seem right.  Don't want to go into too much detail so as not to give spammers too much insight.  These new members are manually put on moderated status.

Now the spammer could get around this by spamming imediately after joining but they don't.  They're like terrorist sleeper cells that post a month after signing up.  Why is this?  It might be because one Invision option is Invisible Capitcha which doesn't makes it easy for new members to sign up.  Many new prospective members get frustrated with performing a Capitcha task so often, not always, the Invisible mode is on.   Perhaps the Invisible mode kicks in when a certain number of individual forums flag a poster as a spammer.   So maybe the bot wants to join numerous forums before posting.

These are just guesses. I really don't know.

Just checked and the setting is now changed.  If it's one particular bot then this should solve the problem.

What's the motivation?  Perhaps the bot is programmed to just do something.  I don't know.

Be careful current US president might declare ladyboy lovers terrorists just to be on the safe side.

I've often wondered who these new posters might be — perhaps just guys whose first posts don't appeal to me, or people who feel uneasy posting as newcomers on a forum. How many unremarkable new BMs do we have to go through before a genuinely original one appears, with fresh stories and photos, and eventually becomes a new mate ?
