  1. Electricity prices will rise to 3.5079 per unit from May to August. This shouldn't affect guys with monthly rental too much as many landlords charge double or triple the official rate and are unlikely to raise your rate over this small increase. This overcharging for electric probably helps guys who hardly use aircon since if landlords didn't overcharge then rents would be a little higher. But guys who run their AC all the time pay substantially more. A typical aircon might use 20 times the power of a fan making aircon the biggest driver of one's electric bill with the fridge second in most cases. I went googling around to find out which appliances are biggest energy hogs. Lots of info out their; I found MichaelBluejay.com to be a pretty good source of info. I usually run the aircon heavay for about a half hour before sleeping and then shut if off and run the fan all night. When I get home, I put on the AC and fan, take a quick shower, then shut of the AC and am quite comfortable. It's not just about the money. If I run the aircon all night, I tend to catch nasty colds.

  3. Is there a ladyboy named May at Katoeys R Us? Wonder if that's the gogo in the pic in the article? Although I guess some ladyboys might be working at female gogos on Walking Street, Also interesting is the quoted wage of a successful sex worker.
  4. xyzzy's correct answer has been confirmed. If it had not been confirmed, Sherlockian deduction would reveal it to be a 2 way street making Klang, Pattaya Tai, and Sai Sam prime candidates. Since there is no median, Pattaya Nua would have been eliminated.

    Travel insurance

Here's something that's for Americans and Canadians. Medjet is not traditional medical coverage that will pay for your expenses at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital. Rather it's designed to get you back home ASAP to the hospital of your choice. It might be suitable for guys who don't want to use hospitals in developing countries due to either quality or cost and want to be back home supposedly with no questions asked, or that's what the website says. Use due diligence. Info About Medjet
  6. That would be a good guess as there is no Beach Road in between the pool and the beach. Name could be Siam Bayshore or Siam Baysomething, similar name to a place is Central Pattaya. But the boats are not the giveaway. In my recent quick stopover in Pattaya, the biggest change I noticed are the boats docked offshore all over Pattaya Bay, hundreds of boats and in the past I hardly noticed any.
  7. 4:30 this morning, a naked Brit fell to his death from a guesthouse above Sweethearts Gogo on Walking Street. RiP.

    Airline News

Doctor Dao said his experience on the friendly tarmacs of United was more horrific than his escape from Vietnam in 1974. He had a broken nose, lost some teeth, and a concussion. FFS One thing for sure is he will get more money from CEO Munoz than he got from Chairman Ho. The London Daily Mail reported that Doctor Dao traded prescription drugs for secret gay sex with a patient half his age in Kentucky. The experience on the plane left him dazed and confused; see he video below. Here is Jimmy Dore's take on the situation. He bring sup a good point that if United is determined to to forceably remove him that all passemgers should deplane so no other passengers become collateral damage in a physical altercation.

    Airline News

Last time I flew from the States to Asia is was flying the very friendly skies of United. I was treated like royalty! A couple days ago, after the flight was fully boarded, the Gate Agents found out the head count was wrong and some extra seats were needed but nobody wanted to voluntarily deplane for the level of compensation being offered. A 69 year old Chinese doctor was chosen for involuntarily removal based on elite flyer status, fare class etc. Removal once you're on the plane is obviously a different sort of situation than simply being denied to board based on overbooking. He must have only paid for Vomit Class! So private security removed him by force. Brings back memories of the 1968 Democratic Convention which was also in the Windy City. The video of the removal is in the ABOVE post.

    Khmer New Year

Khmer New Year coincides with Songkran but at least for now the revelry is much more civilized. Bargirls were bringing in the Year of the Cock by drunken dancing after midnight on Street 136 in Phnom Penh with some powder play but I didn't spot any water splashing. The town is getting quiet as many folks go home to the provinces to be with family. The gym and pool at the Cambodiana Hotel has a 15% New Year discount until April 17th so a 70 buck monthly membership is now only 60 bucks. For those who always use the facilities at the same time each day, they also have slightly cheaper Early Bird and Night Owl memberships also discounted 15%.

    Elvis at 82

Not just you Tex; looks like Elway to me too. Both Elway and sexy ladyboy Karn have the Elvis lip. Is Karn in London?
  12. I never looked at his feet but I guess you are talking about the guy with the limp. Figured out the pricing there. Most dishes that come with rice are 40 baht if served on one plate or 80 baht if on two plates with rice on one plate and the main dish on the other. Left my bag with my laptop there once and they came running after me.
  13. One of the best pool parties was at the Pacific Breeze. It was not an organized party featuring girls who work at the gogo but rather an impromptu event hosted by a world renowned monger and his stable of fun loving ladyboys. Some of the ladyboys enjoyed baring their tops.
  14. In the past, I've always recommended the Woraburi as the best budget hotel based on the very reasonable price and a nice rooftop pool. But recently the Woraburi seems to be charging a bit ore than previously and the Ibis a bit less making them both good budget choices. If a swimming pool is a plus for you then go with the Woraburi. But if you're not going to use the pool then the Ibis may be better for you as the rooms are a bit newer, the staff a bit firendlier, and it's a closer walk to Nana. The 5 minute vs 10 minute walk certainly helps if it is raining. But even with good weather, sometimes it's nice to be able to quickly pop into the room. They both have good breakfast buffets which sometimes is free if using Booking.com. Brekkie is normally priced at 200 baht which is a fair price but I often dont want to wake up early for breakfast. Note the Ibis breakfast ends at around 10:30 though in the room they indicate a free light breakfast to noon which doesnt exist but is a pretty good idea for late risers. I booked the Ibis for one night as I didn't think I'd be using the pool, both hotels were about the same price nd I was curious. Ibis has a safe big enough for a laptop. Think the Woraburi does too but I forget and am not 100% sure their safe fits a laptop. For a long stay I'd still choose the Woraburi for the pool but for a short stay might pick the Ibis. If booking wither through Booking.com please use the links on our sister sites. We earn a small commission at no extra cost to you which helps defray Ladyboy Review's operational expenses. 15. I think the Tin Cup place on Buakhao has excellent food but am reluctant to go there unless I see that there aren't too many customers whi haven't been served yet.
  16. Quite disturbing. I assume these guys took the video themselves as probably no CCTV in the favela.

    AIS's new dirty trick

They keep trying to renew my 199 baht plus VAT monthly plan past 3 months but no money comes out and it doesn't renew unless I have enough money. When I signed up at the AIS store at Central they said they could set it up for auto renew if I wanted it that way. But now that I know a bit about the codes, I rather just do it myself. That plan which only gave 1GB for a month is only suitable for guys who want a backup if their WiFi in their room goes down or is slow or if they want to occasionally be connected anywhere at a moments notice occassuonally. Despite your warning 360, I just got caught up in some unwanted charges, not many baths but still annoying. I thought this would be a good thread to share the best deals. Note these deals may not be permanent offers and might possibly be only offered to selected subscribers, but worth a shot. Good 1-2-Call (AIS) Deals 99 baht plus VAT for 5GB for 7 days. Pretty sure if u pay at say 5pm, it will expire at 5pm 7 days later. Hard to use up 5GB in this time frame for most guys unless you are downloading torrents or doing other data intensive stuff. *777*7069# and then press Call --------------------- 150 baht plus VAT for 4GB for 10 days. This is not as good as the deal above but maybe will last longer or good for a guy who is just staying 10 days longer *777*7030# and press Call _____________________ For a backup plan for light users, 99 baht, 1GB for 15 days. *777*782# and press Call. _______________ Not sure how long these codes are good for and if they are available for everyone. Guys, if you know of good deals for AIS, DTAC, or True then post them here.
  18. Thanks, but only if you're going to Phnom Penh bro.
  19. THanks for the input guys! With the two broken ones, it is the metal input which connects the cord to the phone that is damaged, maybe from trying to shove the wrong side in, maybe one side should be a different side in. The other charger is strange, sometimes I have to hold the phone up high to get it charging and slowly bring it down to the table.
  20. Just started watching Homeland this week. Like it. Here's a brief snippet, just one minute that you guys might find interesting. homeland.s01e10.dvdrip.xvid-reward.sample.avi

    We Need $177

This was an alternative to working in a garment factory. The founder of the company hit upon this idea when working as a Morman missionary in Phnom Penh. Breast milk exports suspended Cambodia has temporarily stopped an American company from exporting locally pumped human breast milk after reports highlighted how some of the country’s poorest women were supplementing their income through the trade. Utah-based company Ambrosia Labs claims to be the first of its kind to export human breast milk sourced overseas into the United States for mothers who want to supplement their babies’ diets or cannot supply enough of their own milk. The milk is collected in Cambodia, frozen and shipped to the US where it is pasteurized and sold by the company for $20 each 150g pack. But yesterday Cambodia’s customs department confirmed it had halted exports. “We have asked the company to contact the Ministry of Health because the product comes from a human organ, so it needs permission from the Ministry of Health, but they did not get it yet,” said Kun Nhem, the general director of Customs and Excise. He said government officials were planning to meet soon to “determine a policy about the product because it is a bit sensitive.” AFP visited the offices of Ambrosia Labs last week in Stung Meanchey, a poor suburb in Phnom Penh. The office, which uses the name Khun Meada, was shuttered. Local women who sold their milk said they had been told business operations had been suspended, but they did not know why. Chea Sam, a 30-year-old mother, said she had been selling her breast milk for the last three months following the birth of her son. “I got my milk pumped six days per week and I earned between 30,000 to 40,000 riel ($7.5-$10) a day based on the quantity of our breast milk,” she said. “I am poor and selling breast milk helped me a lot,” she added. “We all cried when the company informed us about the suspension. We want it to be in business,” she added, saying she knew of at least 20 other mothers who made money through their milk. Ambrosia Labs did not respond to requests for comment. But in an interview with a Cambodia-based reporter published on Vice.com last week, co-founder Bronzson Woods defended the business. He said he hit upon the idea while working in the country as a Mormon missionary and that his company encouraged local women to continue breastfeeding and provide a steady income. http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/36698/breast-milk-exports-suspended/
  22. Good topic GT! I think the breakfast at the Apex, which, I believe is still 150 baht, is an excellent value. As with any breakfast buffet, I reckon the food is fresher in the early morning. If you like to have multiple cups of coffee or glasses of juice, it really stacks up well against the Irish Rovers 99 baht non-buffet breakfast. For breakfast, I like to have at least 2 big cups of coffee while at I Rovers you get one tiny cup. But I am not a morning person and not hungry until a few hours after I wake up so the only time I go to Apex is if I'm up all night and hungry. I guess most guys who monger very late might stumble home around 5am when it's not yet open. But if watching say NFL playoffs it could be the right time. But in general, I avoid all u can eat places because I eat too much and then just want to go home and digest rather than continue the night at bars.
  23. I'm having bad luck with phone chargers. I've broke two of them and a third one I have to fiddle around with for a minute or the phone doesn't charge. Anyone have a particular shop in Tuk Com or anywhere in Pattaya that you recommend that I use to buy a charger? Are there certain brands that are better than others? I'll be traveling a bit and don't want to be stuck without a charger and don't mind paying extra for a quality product. Thanks! EDIT: Actually it's not the charger that I broke but rather the cord that connects to the charger on one end and the phone on the other.. Maybe certain models are best off with a slightly different cord? So I am looking for a shop that will sell me what I actually need rather that what they have that sort of works.
