  1. The gurls look fabulous. Love the outfits.
  2. Interesting post, Rom. You have been in the scene and doing forums much longer than I have. I started in 2014. Like you, I appreciate the things about LBR you mentioned. With respect to LBP or “PY”, I decided to put it out of my mind and not be bothered by the turkeys over there any longer. Life is too short to occupy one’s mind with such trivial and petty matters, in my view. There are still many great BMs there and it is a good source of information. For my part, I would be happy if LBP “PY” is never mentioned here on LBR ever again.
  3. Sorry I missed it. Will see you in a few weeks. Looking forward to visiting the new location for the first time.
  4. I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps a typo.
  5. I’ll check it out. If it’s comparable to Unforgiven then it must be good. Unforgiven is one of the best Westerns ever made; Eastwood’s best work, I’d say.
  6. I was thinking the same about the East Coast. My guess would be Pennsylvania.
  7. Great find, PG. I enjoyed that and I’m not a big fan of country music. Cheers.
  8. Sure. But I’m waiting for @Leftyto chime in.
  9. Getting back to the 1970s, some classic rock: Rush-Closer to the Heart
  10. Hmm. It must have been a US territory and not a state at the time. Trick question.
  11. I read his comments as having to do with hypocrisy and attempts to assuage guilt only. Nothing else, mate. EDIT: Oops. Posted this before I saw your last reply, Rom. Delete if you want.
  12. Still doesn’t count. Give him another Wild West trivia question @blind boy grunt. Let’s see how knowledgeable he is.
  13. Don’t be so harsh Sylvester. I Perhaps I was a bit harsh. I was honestly trying to play devil’s advocate and offer an alternative point of view.
  14. I don’t know, Rom; based up the above anecdotes, it’s sounding more and more like this book is more fiction than fact, which is a far cry from ‘poetic license.’ It seems as if he projects an image of himself as a sort of Indians Jones of SE Asia mongering, always able to extract himself from a variety of precarious situations. In my mind, the true bad-asses of the oldest profession in the world here in SE Asia are the guys who fly under the radar. They don’t write trip reports on mongering/porn marketing forums; they look like the average guy walking down the street, but who own a diverse portfolio of houses of pleasure in multiple cities; they produce and sell large quantities of pornography, or they operate like ninjas, never disclosing their tactics and existence. These guys make considerable amounts of money, and/or get to bed the hottest escorts in the game, and they do so virtually anonymously. That’s truly impressive and badass. I know a few of these guys in real life. They do exist. The more I think about it, the fact that Paultain wrote a semi-factual book about SE Asia mongering does not merit him any kind of recognition at all, except perhaps that he had a big ego or some other psychological need to mythologize himself with a book about his apparently semi-fictional exploits and experiences buying and selling sexual services over a few decades. It seems to me that he is merely one of the many charismatic and self-aggrandizing characters who come and go in the SE Asia mongering scene, who wrote a badly written and exaggerated accounting of his life as a whore-monger and pimp.
  15. Below are some recent random photos from a birthday party at Katoeys "R" Us. Party and show nights are always fun at KRU in my experience. There will be a Halloween party this Monday, the 31st. I've heard rumors that a disco show and party is in the planning stages for about mid-November involving another ladyboy bar from Bangkok. I will let you know once I hear anything else.
  16. Thanks, but Ron’s review was so thorough and scholarly I no longer feel the need to read it.
  17. Agree with you here, Duke. What the heck was this kid thinking? Disgusting and totally uncalled for, and counterproductive. There are so many other ways for people to express their views than this. Political activists who do stupid and repulsive shit like this only hurt their cause. We have them in the States too; immature twenty-something’s usually.
  18. Sure, it exists. But that "darker side" exists all over the world to one degree or another, not just in Thailand. Reading your review of Paultain's book, and @Soju's reference to the film Apocalypse Now got me thinking about the Vietnam War, and wondering whether his book, this forum, and this thread would even exist if that war had never happened. I think not. But that is a topic probably best not discussed in great detail here.
  19. Yep, and this one by the Spinners:
  20. An excellent book review, Rom. Lots of food for thought in what you wrote. Lots of truth too. One up-vote from me.
  21. Technically not the 70s but close enough—1980—Shining Star by the Manhattans.
