Well, the Swiss take rate is quite a bit lower than the US tax rate so would that mean she would end up paying the difference?? If thats the case, she would be, in effect, paying US taxes. It seems to me that that she will be saving significant coin by doing this. Lets not even mention the "death tax". I read a couple of articles about Tina Turner RENOUNCING her US citizenship to become a Swiss citizen. Now I know she has been involved with a german guy for years and has been living in Switzerand. I understand that and I hope she is happy and Switzerland is a beautiful place to live. Years ago I was involved with a sweet Swiss girl over there. If I were ready to settle down, I could be living over there with a couple of kids. But my life didnt work out that way. I have read a couple of articles on the net and not one of them gets down to the crux of the matter. I think there is only on real reason why she would give up her American citizenship and nobody has talked about that. I think its a very interesting topic for discussion but it seems asour media doesnt wish to address the real reason behind Tina's move. If you havent figured out what I am getting at, I will spell it out in one word-TAXES. I think thats the only reason can figure out for her not choosing to have dual citizenship..........

Kahuna is correct-no passport stamping. The Cubans know this. I used to travel a lot via Israel. My travels brought me to many, many countries. I was always sure to ask them politely NOT to stamp the passport. They never did and they understood..... Most travel to Cuba is via package deal in big resorts. You are essentially separated from the real Cuba. I like to call it apartheid tourism. Kahua, I wouldnt bother to go there if you plan to go like that. Much better experience if you go the "private" route.....

Its not that tough to get into Cuba. I suggest going in via Mexico. Dont forget you have to bring everything in cash-no Yankee credit cards down there. The Cubans loosen things up from time to time regarding tourists, private restaurants and private guest houses/hotels. I have been to Cuba but only the airport-long story that I dont want to get into here!!! As an aside, I had a couple of work collegues (yanks) that went there in the wintiertime via Canada. They came back with tans. They flew from Cuba into Canada then straight on their way back to the USA. In Canada, you clear US immigration and customs in Canada. The officer saw they had tans in the wintertime and really busted their balls (although one was a lady). LUCKILY, they had a pre made cover story about visiting a friend in Canada and they actually called him and asked them if these two cavones stayed at his place!!!! They let them go thru!!! BTW as an aside wasnt one of Obamas promises was to end the embargo???

I am not sure what you mean by "surrender" but I have had hotels ask for it upon check in. All they do is make a copy of the picture page and give it right back. Now I dont know if any of youse read THE STICKMAN ' S column but he has writted about police stopping and searching farang around Asoke. I guess you really should make a photocopy of the picture page and hand that over. Here in the US of A i dont know of any laws REQUIRING one to carry ID. If you get into any bother the cops can find out who you are just by asking your name and SSN.

Soeone close to me is going to the Kennedy Center show tonight. They had a luncheon and a bit of a "meet and greet". They met briefly JP Jones and Robert Plant. They said they were cool and at ease mingling. Folks wanted pics taken and they signed a lot of things. Said they were super cool. The other honorees were David Letterman and Dustin Hoffman. They told me that Hoffman mingled reluctantly for a short time bu Letterman didnt even do that. He bolted the first chance he did and came off as a right twat. Somehow I aint shocked by that. The guy seems like a slimy asshole.... BTW it they show it sometime between Christmas and New Year-that week.

The powers that be are totally complicit and that would be both parties. Who writes the laws?? Who enforces the laws?? How many Wall Streeters has the administration prosecuted?? Why do pension finds and 401ks invest so heavily in the markets? Is that the wrong thing to do?? If you want to look at a system thats a total rip off look at social security here in the US of A. What a shitty deal that is. had I been able to "opt out" of the system years ago and only gotten HALF of the money in payroll taxes, believe me, I would be rolling in it right now.
