  1. I know a couple of guys like that, just say hello and they will take the conversation from there. Some guys are ok- in small doses :)
  2. How can you tell a Thai is lying? Their lips are moving... Slightly OT, this was an excuse to end a short time, the LB had promised two rounds... After a very good round one, she jumps up, looks out the window and exclaims "Rain coming soon, I go now." Total sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Blatant lie and I'm trying my best not to burst out laughing. She catches my drift and then she is trying not to laugh as well. Busted!
  3. I don't hit the bars much in Chiang Mai, but I'm not a hermit either :) I was out once last week and again last night and I noticed that the price for lady's drinks are increasing. Or perhaps its the drink that the lady chooses to drink... Last week I was at the Chiang Mai Entertainment Center; I have to chuckle at that grandiose name, most people know it as the Boxing Ring on Loi Kroh. Any way, I sat down at one of the bars near the ring, ordered a large Leo and invited a GG bar girl to sit and imbibe with me. Nice enough girl that allowed me to practice my Thai, but one drink was enough. Requested the check bin and her whiskey was a whopping 180 baht; my large Leo was a very reasonable 120 baht. I didn't say any thing, paid with exact change and moved on. Last night my first stop was a bar beer on the upper end of Loi Kroh, near the moat. Ordered a large Leo and invited Miss Udon (GG) to join me. Curvy gal, just my type but I wasn't in hunter mode so we chatted, played pool then I checked binned. Again my large Leo was 120 but her whiskey was 160. Walked towards the Boxing Ring and stopped at a bar named Lizard Lounge or something (Honest! not making the name up, 555) Best I could tell the staff were all GG's except for the ladyboy that waited on me so I invited her to drink with me. fun girl and I was surprised to learn that they had short time rooms upstairs! Again one drink each, my large Leo was 120 and her (I think it was a glass of Spy, not the entire bottle) drink was 170. This post is becoming too long, 555. On down to Shamrok bar, bought another LD and it was 170, but I did notice on the bill it was itemized as "100 Piper." Strolled up to Marina Bar, bought two lady drinks and a large Leo for myself. This time the bill was 360. Large Leo was 120 and LDs were 120 each. I know its a business but in the past most of the ladies drinks that I bought in Chiang Mai were 120 baht. For Samsong and coke I think that's still the price but the girls seem to be ordering more expensive drinks. I suppose the bars and staff experienced some very lean times due to the combination of low season and the curfew, but I am reluctant to buy ladies drinks priced above 140 baht. As far as I know the girls commission is the same, so either the bars are encouraging them to "order up" or they just played me for a sucker. I see the staff knocking back Sangsom drinks, compliments of the bar, so its not like they won't drink the stuff. Another development is that all of the bars kept my check bin behind the bar, so I didn't know what my total was. Since I only had one drink, it wasn't a problem, but for a longer drinking session, that little detail could leave a customer wide open for bill padding. Just sayin... In the future I will be a little more discerning and ask the ladies drink price before I extend an invitation :)
  4. Five ladyboys defending me....? OK, but usually the locals hang together. If one ladyboy attacks you I doubt another five will rush to aid you, but YMMV :) Yeah, one LB might leave a bad taste in my mouth IF the management/owner is there and ignores me being screwed over. The guys on this forum seem to be more objective and less inclined to being mistreated or taken advantage of.
  5. Good detective Duke :) (Up the Alley reference :) )
  6. Stayed at an Aussie owned place called "Up The Alley", 900 pesos/night. Just past Blue Rock, on the land side, no ocean view. I think Blue Rock and a few of the other upscale hotels/restaurants give a 10% (?) discount with a PIatnight card. Its free and available at Lost In Asia bar, Angeles City. I used the discount card at several bars and for my breakfasts at Blue Rock :) Little factoid about why the Thai economy outperforms the Philippines. Apologies, I took a pic from the news paper, low quality, but readable...
  7. Panglao! Thanks Azza33. And a guapa babe you found there. Compliments :)
  8. I voted other- the aggressive ones that will not go away, and keep saying "Buy me drink!" like a broken record.
  9. Fantastic photos Duke, compliments :) I've never been to Boracay but your photos do tempt me. I did enjoy the beaches of Bohol, a small island of the city of Tagbilarin with many beaches. I think its called Pangdan Island or something. Attached is a pic of Blue Rock floating bar at Subic Bay. Sure is relaxing to swill a few SM Lights and listen to the sweet sing song voices of the Filipinas :)
  10. I became hooked on Vikings, Game of Thrones and Mad Men. A bit older favorites are The Sopranos, Band of Brothers & Pacific, Poldark and Sharpe. Then going way back are Combat and the Twilight Zone. TZ was pretty cutting edge for 1959 :) Don't flame me- I also watched the entire All Creatures Great & Small series :)
  11. Sounds good in theory but I can't imagine any self respecting Thai driver not double or triple parking to order a life saving dish of Som Tam :)
  12. Well at least the guy is fairly open minded and "went for it." Many of us have those initial reactions of "OMG, what have I done?!?" Then we calm done, say fack it and please ourselves- many go for round two and some don't. I have far more respect for the live and let live guys than I do for the homophobic pricks that hold LB admirers in contempt. Truth be known, I'd wager a few of the moralistic "haters" have sucked more LB dick than this forums combined membership, 555 :)
  13. Very true PD. When I was a tourist I couldn't get enough of the bars; since I've become an expat my (bar) enthusiasm has waned. Now I'm excited about the open road :)
  14. Yep, the Cambodians (Mostly Burmese up in CM) do the work the Thais pretty much refuse to do. Here is my take on thing, the junta is a bit concerned about the slowing Thai economy- people with no money tend to become stroppy, 555. Boot out the foreign guest workers, create a labor shortage and drive up wages for the manual labor jobs. Lance thinks its pushing on a rope- won't work :)
  15. The longer I stay in Thailand, the less I go to the bars. Yeah, I still like to carouse and just knowing that I can go to a bar is a good feeling. When I do go to a bar now its more to BS with other punters and simply enjoy myself. If I hook up with a GG or LB that we share some mutual chemistry, then its a bonus :) I'm finding that I now frequent the GG bars more. GGs are less aggressive (Usually, 555!) and a bit more coy about ladydrinks. Some of the bars that have the token or two LBs can be fun, I find the LBs in those bars to be a tad sweeter and fewer problems. My personal experience with LB only bars (No GGs in the bar) is that the owners love to hear good reports, but usually blame the punter if any problems arise. No problema, they are in business to make money after all, so I just quietly vote with my feet and don't return :) Just my take and of course not every one will agree and that's cool. In Thailand we can often have our cake and eat it too :)
  16. Still have army check points here in Chiang Mai, but they rarely stop any one. I was out when the curfew was 10 pm and the bars were shutting up at 9:45 ish, taking it seriously. I rode around on my motorbike until 11 pm, no one bothered me, but the streets were eerily quiet. I haven't been to a bar since the curfew was raised to 12 midnight but the streets are still quiet at 10 pm. The street walkers are also out earlier; they normally don't come out until about 11:30 pm and later :)
  17. Yep, be carful what you ask for- you just might get it, LOLs. I down loaded a Call Blocker app for my single SIM Samsung pone.
  18. ^ +1 The reason most GGs site for entering the "Industry" is that they are single Mothers, supporting their kid(s), which is plausible. Since LBs can't become pregnant, that removes one major justification for entering P4P. OT but I was perusing Pina Love the other day and came across one Pinay LB's profile with one of those 1,000 word introductions: "Hi, I'm Ladyboy, 27 and single Mom -yes I adopted a nine year old boy..." 555! Yeah they speak English in the Phils but I some times wonder whether it is to a punter's advantage or not. I mean, they can really spin some tall tales and even though I know its total BS, I do admit that it is pretty skillful BS :)
  19. I'm skeptical that many good, decent, hardworking and trust worthy LBs can't find main stream work. P4P is easy money and some times very good money and its a career choice. I've never met a LB that was sold into sexual slavery. About supporting the family, that's a good story, but again I'm skeptical as to the amounts actually sent home. Thailand has near zero unemployment, check out all the Burmese, Laos and Cambodians doing the jobs Thais refuse to do. Why should the family lay around idle and live off the proceeds of their "daughter" selling her ass? Well, because they can I guess, 555. Any way, I do believe that P4P can be damaging to many GGs and LBs long term health, so more power to them if they make a bundle, then "Retire" :)
  20. Those probably are the rules- but ladyboys are usually free spirits and pretty much do as they please. I think if they like you, passing their number is not a problem, as long as its done discretely. Many bars allow free lancers to use their establishment to get customers and of course the bar gets a cut too. If it bothers a punter to ask for her number in the bar, just wait until you see her off premises :)
  21. I've had the good fortune -I think- to hook up with some Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Chantaburi LBS. Also one LB from Sukothai that has always floated my boat :)
  22. Yes, I was there on another occasion and an expat told me that as well- just because you BF a hostess, don't assume she will sleep with you. That little detail has to be discussed before hand :) I remember the way they would put a few ice cubes in a saucer, then use a small towel to dab the ice cubes, then clean your face. Sort of a poor cousin of the wet towels that many beer bars used to provide gratis in Thailand. Come to think of it, its been a while since a Thai bar girl has done that for me
  23. Yep, just ask for it; if she gets nasty about it I figure she's done me a favor, as in who wants to be with a bitch? (Don't answer that guys, 555) I learned to write my name in Thai and add my phone number to it and pass it to girls I'm interested in.. Its a good ice breaker and they usually laugh.
  24. The alleged perp isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. The alleged act was on March 18 and he didn't "flee the country." Thailand can be a small town indeed :)
  25. I think they tell us what they think we want to hear. Some times I prefer it and even start to believe I'm actually handsome and look 20 years younger than my true age
