Dunno if Scott has publicized it anywhere here, but Jum's -- as in Sensations' Jum's -- birthday party is Monday, Oct. 7. Jum, of course, is the wee little bartender lass -- the one that someone always asks if she's a ladyboy when she ends up in the Sensations thread photos; she being the one that stands head to hip with most of the ladyboys that work there.

As I once said to a noob, who insisted they weren't transgendered girls in Voodoo: "Let's go up to Angelwitch and take a good look at the Thai girls. We'll note their average body size, height, size of their hands/feet, width of shoulders, etc." We proceed to do that. "Now let's go down to Voodoo and do a little comparison of body size, height, shoulder width, etc." We do just that. End result? Noob's mind blown up, 555. Much hand wringing/whinging/questioning sexual identity, etc. What a maroon. I understand it's a bit of a mind fuck -- I remember it well -- but the guy hadn't even gone with a transgendered woman/ladyboy yet, post-op or otherwise, and he was all bent out of shape about it. Anyway, more to the point/on topic: TiT; buyer beware. If someone hasn't done their homework and has unresolved issues, that's on them, not the girls -- who identify as 100 percent woman, obviously. If someone needs years of therapy because they find out they fucked a transgendered woman ... well, they seriously need to grow a pair and man up, IMHO. Not that I'm knocking therapy, mind you -- everyone could probably benefit from a bit of head shrinking from time to time. But it's really just not that big a deal. If it messes with your head that bad, there must be some other deeper seated issues, I would guess. Ditto for what JS points out, best to let 'em know you know what the score is and that you're okay with it; a better time will be had (although you have to do this judiciously and politely; don't want to make anyone lose face). And contrary to what many think, many post-op ladies do enjoy being 100 percent lady, and are lovely, well adjusted individuals. Not all of them, certainly, but then who is? And at times the bar is packed, although it only had a smattering of individuals when I popped in a few weeks ago. I often go in there and shoot a few games of pool with the mamasan, before making the rounds of the other bars.

Notably, it's being opened by the former owner of Horny Bar/Soi 6. A little bird told me that some of the current Horny Bar staff may be moving over there as well once it is opened. Just FYI.

A fellow Yank, but I caught them in 2008 and yes they do put on a helluva show. Forget who they were touring with ... probably because their set was so awesome. Funny story; I went to the study cited in the Wikipedia article, and it took me to a site where I had to register to post/see content; so I said "fuck it." Guess I'm back to being a a 99 percenter, 555.

I have to say, and I don't mean to be negative on purpose, as I'd like to see any ladyboy bar thrive, in all honesty. But I find the music ... out of place, I guess. That kind of music (and the disco spots and whatnot) is great in a club with a thousand sweaty people dancing their asses off. I'd love it if they played music half so good in Marine (half of the time, even). But in a tiny -- and I do mean tiny -- lounge bar where you are talking to your mates or a ladyboy (as there is no room to do anything else) the music is ... again, just seemingly out of place. I wish them well, though. There are some cute girls working and/or freelancing out of there, though no one to my particular tastes.

555, yeah, I never see British/North American/Australian guys doing that in Pattaya. At all. Never happens. Nope.

And since I've moved back to Thailand I've seen Russians get their ass handed to 'em by pissed off Thais several times now, 555. I've had many girls -- in and out of the business -- and Thai folks in general complain about Russian people -- in Pattaya. But on the other hand, as long as they pay their tabs, many Thais don't have a problem with more uncouth farang barbarians invading. Furthermore, I think you have to realize that other parts of Thailand don't seem to be experience the large Ivan Influx like Pattaya is for various reasons. Generally in Bangkok the ones you meet tend to be a different class of folk from the ill-mannered, farm-fresh hillbilly package tourons one encounters in Patts; in fact I've met some quite nice Russian folk up in BKK. They smile and everything. So I think if you ask a Pattaya bar owner or bar girl about Russians, you'll get one answer; ask your average Bankok resident who lives/works in the central business district, you might get a different one.

One of the owners stopped into La Bamba about a month or so ago -- a French chap, as I recall. Seemed nice enough. Well, I was thinking of staying in Bangkok this weekend, but perhaps I'll have to come down and see if I can get some proper photos. Of course that's my only reason. ...

I've learned from a very reliable source ... *ahem* ... that New Orn staff (the New Orn on Soi Diana just down from the big beer bar complex where Nong Bar, Pussy Bar, et. al., reside), are now all salaried, and that many of the former freelancers there have moved onto other venues, including R-na bar on Soi Honey. Shall endeavor to glean more data this evening. ... Crazy old Natalie can still be found in the bar next door, as usual, for those of you who um ... appreciate that sort of ... person. Yeah.

Well, I can't say who it was, but I know it was because Kwang confronted a customer for taking another girl out of the bar -- the wee one that looks like the (in)famous Cartoon of Bangkok fame -- after he returned to the bar that night. I was there for that much of the conversation between Kwang and Lita before they switched to Thai and I made a discrete exit to the deck out front. But she hoofed it out because I think Lita all but threatened to provide a butt-first exit for her if she didn't leave of her own accord. All I have to say at this point is that when I visit Famous next I shall miss Kwang -- NOT. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I'm loathe to talk bad about any girl on the forums, but I don't have anything positive to say about this one.

Seems to me I saw her when I was in there several weeks ago shooting pool, but I can't swear beyond a doubt it was the same lady in question. The talent that was there seemed to be of the level that it always has been, albeit with many new faces, but that's just IMHO. And that's easy to say when I went home with Fah, 555.

One of the La Bamba ladies' friends that works at Coconut Bar tends to pop around to La Bamba every so often; I've noticed her dropping by tends to (but not always) correspond with the po-po's sweeps of Beach Road.
