  1. Yup, did it twice and will never do it again. My 2 horror movies......not literally, but you know....were The Day After Tomorrow, some science-fiction nonsense which Dennis Quaid would like to forget he ever made, and Hellboy. Wish I could get those 4 hours of my life back. Never again. Obviously transgendered Thai boys and myself don't share the same interests in movies; who would've guessed?
  2. I know I got the African one wrong because I checked......who would ever guess Equatorial Guinea was NOT on the equator?? The other 2 are correct, been to both.
  3. Oh yes, anything with lots of flashing lights, fires, explosions and fantasy plays very well to Thai audiences. If you want to be disappointed for 2 hours take a young ladyboy to a movie.

Can't recall the exact quoye but Richards said something like this once; "All the doctors who have been telling me to change my lifestyle or I will be dead soon are all dead now." He's outlived 'em all, who would ever guess?? Here's a pic from Anthony Bourdain's twitter feed yesterday, posing with Iggy Pop on a beach in Miami

Hefe is the only one to come even a little close on the Folsom Prison recording; it was done in 1955!
  6. Just found this list; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alfred_Hitchcock_cameo_appearances My favorite Hitch movie is Frenzy, seems like he worked himself into that one as well.
  7. I saw Gone Girl last week, my once or twice a year going to the cinema experience. Not bad but not great.....
  8. I thought this was very interesting, a young 'lady' from Maine [transgendered] was named one of the top 50 most influential women by a popular women's magazine; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/18/nicole-maines-glamour_n_6177720.html?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000023&ir=Good+News ''On Monday, Glamour posted its list of "50 Phenomenal Women of the Year," which included Nicole in the Maine spot. "It's an honor to be recognized with this title," Nicole wrote to The Huffington Post on Tuesday. "I'm so glad that all the work that my family and I are doing is yielding positive results and making actual change! I hope that this will lead other youth to speak up in their communities and advocate for themselves and what they believe in."
  9. http://pagesix.com/2014/11/19/thai-girl-would-rather-live-in-orphanage-than-with-kardashians/ “Everyone wants to have a different or a better life, I suppose,” the teen told the Daily Mail. “But when I thought about it, I realized it wouldn’t be good for me, because I would have to leave so much behind. I wasn’t ready for that.” Despite choosing to remain in Thailand, Pink is grateful to have met and gained the affection of the reality TV star.''
  10. Well, as usual we all have different tastes.....I thought Kill Bill [1 and 2] were quite average. Basterds was fantastic! Could watch it again right now....
  11. I dunno, I thought Django was decent, maybe a 6 or a 7 out of ten, but Inglorious Basterds was classic Tarantino; IMO a 9 out of ten.
  12. Yeah, Nickelback, I was looking for them. Creed sucked pretty badly as well.

I said '68 and I was wrong......I think that's the year the LIVE recording was made in the prison itself. I'll let someone else guess before I give the actual date.

Got this thrown at me at quiz night last week; and wasn't even close :-( What year, within 5 years, was Folsom Prison Blues first released?
  15. Found this beauty somewhere along the way, yummmm
  16. He really is, but it seems he enjoys the spotlight.......
  17. So Tarantino is correct? That was a total guess!! I watched Resorvoir Dogs many years ago, thought it was OK but he's done much better work since then.
  18. Interesting list......2 bands I think should NOT be on that list are The Doors and The Smiths; both highly influential and have a decent body of work behind them. Green Day; if going by just their first 2 records they were excellent, since then they have made a lot of garbage. My biggest head nod?? Even more than Coldplay? Fucking OASIS!!! Fuck them and their preening, posing lead singer, whichever asshole Gallagher brother that is! Two-hit wonders who have the audacity to name themselves the most important band ever grrrrrrrrrrr I was really hoping they'd be on that list before I opened it, was not disappointed.
  19. Erotic Adventurer will easily be able to get number 2 if he's reading here! For number 3 I will go with Tarantino

''Oh, what a night'' Can't think of the artist but I will try Frankie Valle?
  21. It's funny, 'cause when I first saw the question my very first thought was "swearing in of a president" but as mentioned, 1800 was an off-year for presidential elections so that couldn't be it. Then I thought "the first congress?" but those early ones were in Philly {the continental congress} as early as 25 years prior. So, again, kind of a trick question, no? In other words, the very FIRST congress gathered in Philly, not DC! As for the wording of it, that was why my 2nd guess was "presidential ball." To PD's point, a ball is something which would be "held", same as a dance or a party; a congress is usually not "held" but more likely ''convened." Perhaps had William worded it that way it may have been better. Sucks because I know how difficult those accumulators are to get.....hell, sometimes they go for 10 weeks or more with no winner! 67 and myself and one other guy, not sure who at the moment, got 4 one week and the 5th one was a music question none of us knew......BB was away and when he came back we asked him the same question and he nailed it in 3 seconds, JimSlim did as well.
  22. This ad from GE in the 50's would never fly today Imagine trying to sell these things in Georgia, or Alabama?
  23. sorry PD, already looked this one up yesterday after 2 incorrect guesses......seems like kind of a trick question as there were a few of these held in other places, but I guess they wanted the first one held in DC, sooooooooooo.......
  24. Here's one from last Thursday, I didn't see it because I was at quiz night......good thing as I never would have gotten it! ''THESE 2 ISLANDS THAT BEGIN WITH THE SAME LETTER ARE LINKED BY THE 33.5-MILE SEIKAN RAIL TUNNEL, THE WORLD'S LONGEST IN OPERATION''
