  1. too quickly P.D... by the end of this rainy season it will all be floating to Koh Larn...
  2. well, when the Irish crew [ bumble, Seamus O' Poke et al] get back here...we'll talk Emmy into having an Irish night... Bumble, if you want to bring Sarah Devlin...feel free. Just don't bring the Bachelor's! you can bring that lead singer bird from the Corr's too.
  3. so, on the Parting Glass/ Restless Farewell theme, here's Bob doing Restless Farewell at the Frank Sinatra 80th Birthday Bash in 1995. Dylan had long known Sinatra through his friendship with daughter Nancy and Tony Bennett. not so relevant perhaps, and not trying to turn this thread into a Dylan one. But it's a goody. A false clock tries to tick out my time. To disgrace, distract and bother me. And the dirt of gossip, blows into my face and the dust of rumours covers me. But if the arrow is straight and the point it is slick, it can pierce through the dust no matter how thick. So i'll just make my stand and remain as i am, and bid farewell, and not give a damn.
  4. okay so Bubba mentioned Dylan [yup i know he's not Irish] here's a song that could well be Irish, it's traditional possibly based on an old irish tune 'Lake Erin' Belle Isle.
  5. I'm glad that you're enjoying it Bubba. Now here's a well known ditty, made famous by Thin Lizzy of course, but for now - The Dubliners and Luke Kelly: Whiskey in the Jar.
  6. anything to do with QG having irish blood? did people find out and panic?... i'm still trying to find a vid of him doing riverdance.
  7. don't worry Al... Sara used to work there so she will hopefully advise Sunny
  8. i guess we all do QG. Good kid is our Sunny. A bit worrying i suppose , but she'll be okay.
  9. And now to balance the books a bit.. Janet Devlin who i believe arrived on the scene aged 16 or so. She has one of those wonderful lilting voices.
  10. you leave our workmen alone Woodie, this is the most exciting thing to happen in Jomty since lily once walked into Emmy's.
  11. some good stuff coming through! thank you all. yes of course Quinn, Dylan and the Irish stuff... he has long talked about his appreciation of Irish ballads, probably made known to him initially by Liam Clancy who he met way back in 1962. Indeed he did say that Liam was the best ballad singer that he has ever heard. Here before the song are bob's comments. So then, how about some Liam stuff. And topically, Clancy singing Restless farewell, Dylan's rewritten version of The Parting Glass.
  12. old news! you should be more concerned about what the Cowpoke is using!
  13. My god! How very 19th century... You still using a quill pen too? How, in this day and age can anyone live without fac*book? an absolute necessity. Come on Daddy-o ... get with it!
  14. Sunny cuts her hair short now. She wants to go to work in Dubai. did she get a visa okay Emmy?
  15. i should state that the fiddle player shown in the first few seconds... is not Quinn..
  16. well now, there i was this afternoon playing on Youtube, and also thinking about QG and his Irish ancestry. Also pondering about how to amass a few points to help me get rid of this hated 'Rockstar with LB groupies' tag that's hanging around my neck like a stone. Anyway, all that pointed me in the direction of something i love...Irish bands and singers. I'm pretty much convinced and have been for years that the Irish accent is perfect for vocals. This comes from years ago in the 70s and 80s when i hung around with a part Irish band in London called 'Mantilla' so, this is my Irish music thread. Dedicated to all the Irish guys on here..BB, Ciobha, Kylemore et-al. Who for all i know may hate this stuff... but never mind. I start with the Dubliners, no doubt Liam Clancy won't be far behind. Please feel free to add to these.
  17. topical one this week.. the Kittens along with the rest of us have been walking through Niagara Falls for 3 days, and managed not to fall down big holes too! Bless 'em.
  18. well being as i hardly ever go out the front door.. ain't gonna happen!
  19. and anyway Cowpoke, why are you in such a hurry to sort it out? You may well be reading soon in the Pattaya press that the tourist authorities are thinking of promoting the Jomty hole as Thailand's version of the Grand Canyon, one of the natural wonders of the world. They are going to be taking hundreds of thousands of baht a day! You heard it first from your man on the spot...
  20. yes indeed. but where does soi watboon go? straight into the sea? how does it join a raised beach road without knocking half of jomtien down, including a 17 storey hotel?. i think you'll find that what has collapsed is a drainage culvert under beach road talking water from watboon and 2nd road into the sea. the thing they finished building/digging 2 years ago. it's lasted well really for pattaya. don't really know though but looking at the photo it looks like that. yesterday they spent all day trying to pump water out of the hole. Life is so exciting at the moment!
  21. but the overpass would fall into the next hole...
  22. it's pretty much bog standard QG.. some years back i was living in issan and came to Pattaya for a few days holiday, stayed in Naklua. Decided in my impulsive recklessness to visit Joy and Vinnie. As you know they used to have the Horny bar on soi 6. Remembering that they had started the Fantasy on Soi Buck i took a walk up there when the heavens opened, and i mean opened. Walking up soi Honey i was suddenly in a foot of water pouring down from soi buck. At the junction of Honey and Buck it was at least 3 ft deep and a veritable whirlpool... water from soi pothole, soi lengkee was meeting there. during the recent jomtien floods a few days back i couldn't get to see my bint for 2 days... she lives 2 streets from me, but just couldn't get into her street because of water. The drainage system in Pattaya is indeed a mysterious thing. Mind you there was 2-3 days of almost continuos heavy rain.
  23. indeed rockstar Poke... but the serious drainage work was finished 2-3 years back... and that was an even bigger hole in the road that took 2 years and 2 different contractors to complete. have no fears in a couple of years it'll happen again.
