Thanks BB. I'm away reacquainting myself with the real world. Luckily this self imposed detox getaway is soon to be over. Time for another beer for sure. I'll be back about a week after my brother in arms gets there.
  2. Setup a paypal account and post it. Being away for too long now I'll sure be hitting the donate button for another fix. Great stuff Snick

I believe she's not around atm. Her name is Fon and I know we say it about a lot of them but she really is one of the nicest girls I met in Pattaya. She probably should have named herself Fun for her great attitude and playfulness. I haven't posted for a while so I'll go ahead and do a photo dump of 10-15 pictures. These are all from a volleyball practice beach party that coach Paeng and water boy Flatpack kindly arranged in preparation for the LBWVB 2013.
  4. Starting from the top of soi 7 there are Rolling Live which is probably the fourth door on your right (coming from 2nd road), and UK Bar which is a beer bar just in front of where Anaconda used to be. Both sport 2 LBs among the otherwise all GG staff. Further down soi 7, try Boomerang and the little bar just behind it, there are usually one or two there. On soi 8 on the lower part of the soi (closer to beach road) there's Poker bar which is dedicated LB bar with very friendly staff and although very loud due to the live band playing in the next door bar I always somehow find it relaxing. Across the road from Poker and a little further up towards 2nd road you are also likely to find a couple of LBs in or around Sailor bar and Central 8. Pon, ex-Sensations, now works in one of the small bars across from Poker but I don't remember which one. That should get you started :)
  5. Another interesting talk on the snowden case and NSA surveillance programs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSKy3vcSBdM It starts a little slow with the first eighteen minutes dedicated mostly to the history of the NSA (but still worth watching), then about twenty minutes covering current issues related to the snowden revelations and followed by thirty minutes of Q&A. If you can spare an hour I would definitely recommend watching the entire talk, but if you only have twenty minutes or so start at the 18 minutes mark.
  6. Thanks Snick. I'll try it in the next couple of days and report back. I'm always on lookout for gyms with reasonable daily rates in bkk.
  7. Can anyone help me decipher the location of the new Tony's gym in Bkk? it's said to be @ "The Palladium Pratunam, 25th floor tower A". I couldn't find a definite match on either google or google maps. If any of you bkk locals know where it is (Tony's map attached below) please reply with a link to the location on Google maps. I'll buy you an energy drink if you want to join for a workout Thanks!
  8. pdogg, do you have the kindle app installed on your tablet? If not, install it and anything you buy (or get for free) on amazon will show up in the app. Another cool feature with the kindle app is that you can send documents to your Amazon registered email and the docs will be available to read or review on your kindle app. Here's Amazon's one page howto

  10. Christmas Party at The House (soi 13/1) Tomorrow 24 Dec. Girls in sexy red uniform good food and great music Starts 9pm
  11. After Glenn Greenwald first received his stash of secret documents from Edward Snowden, one of the first people he consulted was security expert, cryptographer, and writer Bruce Schneier, who helped him review and digest the documents. A few weeks back Schneier gave a briefing on Capitol Hill where he advised lawmakers to rein in the NSA, and the Internet community to pro-actively design countermeasures. On December 12 2013, as a follow up to his 'Snowden and the Future' talk series, Eben Moglen hosted A conversation with Bruce Schneier at Columbia Law School. They talked about what we can learn from the Snowden documents, the NSA's efforts to weaken global cryptography, and the future of our digital privacy

  14. Nice one Ciobha - that's the fire house on 3rd road and 199 is the the lucky (or maybe unlucky) no.
  15. This one should be easy. Extra points for their three digit tel. no.
  16. Across from central festival. Was seating on the beach not too far from it to watch the fireworks show a couple of nights ago.
  17. 17th at The House, soi 13/1. Rico (the owner) celebrating his birthday.
  18. A ferry operating between Koh Larn and Pattaya sank this afternoon. Not much info atm. A friend texted me about rescue forces in Bali Hai pier saying a ferry sank. Initial info available on Twitter and Pattaya-Addicts. Only news item I could find was this one: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.innnews.co.th%2Fshownews%2Fshow%3Fnewscode%3D491827

    Thailand Now Has 3G

AIS upgraded their network and pricing recently. It now costs about 450baht a month for unlimited data out of which the first 2GB are at the highest speed (not sure what flavor of 3G it is) and after that you get knocked back to EDGE. My speed test tonight showed really good speed but I have to admit that it caught me by surprise because browsing over 3g here is still not comparable with what you get back home
