Watched "Luther" & thought it was several cuts above the usual cop show mostly due to the lead performance by Idris Elba, he makes the flawed character come alive through sheer passion, & the bizarre occasional character played by Ruth Wilson who I was previously was unaware of but who easily holds her own in scenes with Elba... I will be looking for her in future roles. Also been watching "Jack Taylor" (both of these series are on Netflix) which isn't the greatest series ever but pretty watchable & entertaining mostly due to Ian Glen in the title role & the unique shooting location of Galway. "House of Cards" is excellent, especially the first 2 seasons, but really cynical & dark & I needed to take a break from the amoral characters after a while since any character with a shred of decency gets thoroughly f#cked & humiliated in the ceaseless grab for power.

Friday morning woke up around 8:30, and decided to try some breakfast for a change. The place I'm staying has reasonably good security (if the maid remembers to close front entrance), but they don't do anything to keep people from hanging around out front. Was surprised to see you-know-who waiting across the street. And on top of that, she had a huge bag over her shoulder. Who knows what horrors it contained. Took her to breakfast and back to the room to dirty the sheets. Talked with 4 LBs at the bar, 2 said new boss, 2 said old boss. The two that said old boss, said the bar closed because no customers. When asked why it opened again so quickly, they didn't have a clue. Another LB said they actually did put new speakers in, but i don't recall anything wrong with the previouse speakers, and it all sounded the same to me. Another said a bar is required by law to put a sign on the door if closed for more than one day. Don't know if that's true, but when Suzy Wong's was closed for having underage workers, they too had an "under renovation" sign on the door.

There are some improved things about the 787 Dreamliner that are not obvious. I have flown once on it recently in premium economy. The air is pressurized to a lower altitude than most airliners 6,000 feet, vs 8,000. Cabin humidity can be set up to 15% vs 4% for the older planes. In addition they have added a special gaseous filtration system that removes more odors, particles, bacteria and viruses than then older HEPA only based systems. The air used to pressurize the cabin is no longer "bleed air" from the engines, so is free from possible fuel and oil fumes. I have also flown the 777 several times, and I would say that I had less jet lag, and dehydration flying on the 787 vs the 777. I will fly the 787 again on the way back to work in August and see if my experiences will bear out on the next flight.

Took one of my favorite LBs LT a couple days ago. Have known her for years but only ST; this was her first LT with me. She woke up at 10AM and had to leave. I stayed in bed.
