Taxi Meter in Pattaya

We've probably all used them in Bangkok, but have you ever used a Taxi-Meter in Pattaya?

 

In all the years I've been coming, I can safely say I never have.

 

 

Seems like attempted changes are afoot.

I've been in a Pattaya meter taxi once. Several years ago I was hanging out with a good friend that had a very bad hip problem. He had a meter taxi driver he called when he wanted to get around. So I rode with him once when we where going to a bar near Walking Street from an outlaying bar. But he always called the same guy and always gave him a bit of a tip over the meter so he never had any problems.

Last year when I got hit by the motorcycle food cart and had to go to the hospital I called a taxi to take me they charged 200 baht and I didn't care as it was raining and I was bleeding a lot! It was a bit expensive I guess as the hospital was not that far from my hotel, but seriously 200 baht($5.25 usd) who cares?

About time, I think I had to pay 300 baht for Central to the Bus Station, I tried 3 or 4 and they laughed off using the meter. In Bangkok the same journey on the meter would probably be under 100 baht.
