Slick Willie In Vietnam

The former POTUS was in Vietnam yesterday.

HANOI, Vietnam — For Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama's announcement this week of plans to resume diplomatic relations with Cuba must have stirred memories. It was 20 years ago this month that Clinton pulled off a similar diplomatic and political success, normalizing relations with Vietnam.

Not that Clinton needed a reminder — he was in Vietnam on Thursday to commemorate his largely forgotten breakthrough. He spoke as guest of honor at a reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy to celebrate American Independence Day.

The former president, in a speech reviewing U.S.-Vietnam cooperation, described normalization of relations as "one of the most important achievements of my presidency," and said it helped lift the burden that had been weighing down the American spirit since the Vietnam War.

Kudos to Bill...

Maybe Miss Saigon even dropped by his room and gave him a blow job as an award....After all he goes to sleep and wakes up next to Hillary...And that's damn scary.....

His action lifted a corner of the burden but for many the burden remains...And it likely will remain until the last of the Vietnam era Yanks take their last breaths...

It makes us sad...Not because we lost...But because we all know now and many knew then, that we didn't belong in Vietnam...It was never our war............

How many good people died and suffered and still suffer because of what our politicians forced our young men and women to do......

For many, the burden truly remains and no one has the cure.........

That time previous POTUS was treated like a rock star everywhere he went.

Crowds thronged the routes.

People in Saigon still point to a now-famous pho shop called Pho 2000 and say: "that's where President Clinton ate pho."

This time? Nothing.

I have only learned just now from this thread that he's in the country - or was.
