  1. I would have thought it the pot calling the kettle here.. I distinctively get the impression that if the story or information doesnt fit your agenda then you sir are highly dismissive and rude. Im neutral on this topic and I what I can tell you is those economic numbers are terrible. To try and put him on some sort of economic pedestal for achievements to help his country... well the numbers are the numbers... they dont look real good I can tell you that much.
  2. Certainly and interesting set of figures showing in the actual data. Here is a couple i guess to compare it to the rest of the area - would seem to be a bit of an underperfomer given their oil reserves. Real GDP would be an interesting number to know - with inflation at those levels i can't imagine real GDP has gone very far at all and with the collapse of their currency i can't imagine life could be that great on the ground. For what its worth i have no real thoughts on the guy... just another dictator. The women are hot... thats about the peak of my interest.
  3. With all due respect i think that could be the worst example possible to illustrate your underlying point.
  4. Nice one Tomas... So one cant form an opinion from what they have read and people they have met?
  5. Diversification = cheering the winner of the Melbourne cup when you've backed all 22 runners. Where's the fun? "beat the index" - well statistically you are indeed correct. Trading is about as hard a thing as you can do. A few mistakes here and there tend to wipe out all the good work. I find that the biggest difference between my personal trading and taking a diversified approach would be in the good years i can exceed index returns by 100-200%. Diversification is fine if you are seeking mediocirty and/or trying to reduce stock specific risk. It won't save you when the shit hits the fan.

    Krabi

Im sure you can find ladyboys everywhere in the area. However dont expect too much. Krabi and more specifically Ao nang is a lovely part of the world. Main areas to frequent for nightlife are Centrepoint complex along the beach front and the bar strip on the eastern side of town. I do remember seeing a few average ladies so good luck. There used to be an area west of ao nang (walkable) with a beachside bar called luna club cafe which partied on to the wee hours. Some lbs there too. But not sure if this is still open since Centrepoint was established.
  7. Nice post... Now a simple but important question.. Does one need to be holding the appropriate visa before they on the bus?
  8. ... A tale of betrayal and retribution... Coupled with the usual Thai stupidity.. Then again its all heresay to me... Over to you mardhi ;)
  9. By that are you acknowledging your judgement has been poor before? ;)
  10. I watched Django two days backed... Thought it was fantastic... For a film of that length i didn't find it long and could have kept watching more & more. KKK scene was hilarious... Very well done... Share pacman's view on it. Thought Waltz, de caprio and jackson all deserve the nod for best supporting actors - simply perfect casting. For once i enjoyed the qt cameo as well, thought it was a hoot. A great western, not sure a classic. Not all will enjoy but a very well made movie indeed.
  11. Wouldn't selectively quote in this case.... As it distorts the meaning of what i posted. You should know age of consent is 15, not 18. So if you can tell that with an asian girl.... Good luck. As piggdog says, take them from a bar.... Least it gives you a better chance of staying out of trouble. And even on that note from a bar a girl is meant to be 20 or 21 was my understanding... Again that should raise a few eyebrows... And a well frequented lb bar in pattaya has been employing under 18's for years.... So.... Again......
  12. Its a sting operation... No condoning his actions... But the police used her to their own end. I suspect she looked well beyong her years and why the police used her in the sting. Again no condoning the actions but just maybe he was unlucky. I just finished reading another interesting book.... The police in nana used to use a 15 yr old to set up guys in soi 7 with the same modus operandi. Door busted down just after they entered the room and got naked.... How? ... The girls sends sms and room number to police. Going rate to get released from lockup was 50000 baht. Btw source of the girl was a raid on the nana clubs... Instead of jail, they offered her a way out, not a way home!! The hotel i stayed in Angeles was caught up in a police scam.... This time underage girls with id from clubs... Just when you thought you were safe. On my last trip the small girl i took back was in her early twenties.. Her form of id... Her bar id issued by the local area. Form used to establish her age and accpeted by the authorities... Was.... A letter confirming no record existed of her name and date in the registry.... I shit u not.... So proof of age was a document to confirm she didn't exist.. Hmmm.... Not so cut and dried....
  13. Amazing... Just a bit unlucky.... Police were about to remove a 13 yr old at 4am... Smells like a sting operation to me... Poor bastard!!
  14. Agree is massively oversold.... However Apple have advised the market that they are going to release more regualar "accurate reporting going forward". So they decided to advise they expect a 17% drop in profit next quarter.... Hence the market action.... the historical P/E muiltipe (10) is not relevant anymore. They also say they are slashing iphone 5 numbers behind the scenes... perhaps an indication the market isn't that phased about the model... or perhaps a newer iphone is due to arrive shortly along with an ipad mark 5... you guess is as good as mine.
  15. Thought i'd quote myself. :) Now im not wishing anyone any misfortune but i hope some of you heeded my words and all of you are out of apple somewhere in the 600's or even 700's. Nasty times when a bubble bursts like this. Down $250+ in 3 months. Is it a good buy now or was the stinking iphone 5 a corporate slayer?
  16. Ive read a few times the issues with non pi credit cards. Never had a problem myself, but im enrolled in verified with visa & the eqivalent with mastercard. Good to see a cebu-bkk flight. I prefer tiger over cebu from bkk - clark... But thats me.
  17. I'm stuck on the treadmill at home until September. Out of leave, out of cash & bored senseless. Still 2012 was a good year and i managed to go April, October and Xmas. Ive got 7 months to pay off some bills, try and lose some weight and plan for 6 week break later in the year. Its not all bad :) I suspect however that a fair hit of my time with be in Phillipines rather than LOS.
  18. I like that... shame i fallen out of lub with bucket.
  19. The "edge" is nothing special in reality. It's not a holy grail, nor is it a system that's 100% right all the time. An example is during a bear market in ASX... when to get back in? Use the Coppock indicated on a monthly chart - It never fails. Perhaps something as simple as money management gives you an edge - the ability to take a loss at a predetermined level on every trade and sticking to the game plan. I think my mate who dropped $50k the other night on Japanese Yen is wishing he had more discipline. Using the 200 day XMA (Expontential moving average) on the overall market to decide to be active or not. The triple screen trading method for short term reversal by Dr Elder is a great trading method. He called Apple at $700 going back to $500 and was on live tv showing why the tehnicals showed is would. Using the NH-NL (new high new low) index to determine the momentum of the market and the likelyhood of a contination or reversal of a major trend. (PS just now i believe the NH-NL index on sp500 is flashing caution) These are 5 simple examples of getting an "edge" over a manger of money that is close to 100% invested all the times.
  20. It's possible to far exceed the 5.5-7% return you have indicated here without multiplying the risk. The major problem with funds managers is they are required to be invested at all times in the market. Smaller investors like us can manage our own money and move in and out of the market as we see fit. The fact that we are small and more flexible means we can generate better returns. It also gives us greater control over individual risk on any transaction. The trick to exceeding normal returns is to have an edge in the markets.
