  1. Pat's **th Birthday Bash at Patsy Bar, Soi 8 Friday 26th from 7pm (or 8pm.....up to you). Old and new patrons and friends welcome.
  2. Casablanca has changed a lot since Bogart's day, apart from it being on the Atlantic coast and not the Mediterranean. I haven't been there for 20 years but even then it had become a sprawling and, in places, quite modern city with an unofficial population of at least 5 million. Better options for a bit of relaxed cohorting with the locals would be Essaouira, visited by Mr.J.Hendrix in the 60s and the town has not forgotten, or Mirleft, a dusty but growing village at the foot of the Atlas mountains, once a popular place for northern European 'alternative types' escaping the cold winter. Both places can be easily reached by bus/taxi from Agadir, which often has cheap flights from Europe, but in some ways resembles South Africa in apartheid times. The only Moroccan natives you will meet in Agadir are in uniform or on their way to/from work, from/to their homes in the 'townships'. Back to the Mediterranean, I have had several very enjoyable vacations on Greek islands which all seem to be similar but have significant differences, Leros, site of the real Guns of Navarone, Samos, holiday island but big enough to get lost on exploring mountain tracks, Siros with enough different beaches to keep you busy, Andros only really for nature lovers, quiet and beautiful, Kos for the party-crowd (under 25s) but again big enough to get away from the crowds and close to Turkey. Crete is the jewel in the crown though. Tourist stuff for the tourists, too many beaches to shake a stick at, great food just about everywhere, plenty of ruins for the archaeologically minded, quiet mountain paths for nature-lovers and all on an island that can be leisurely crossed in all directions in a day.
  3. Top points to Snick, again.
  4. Wrong continent. The country was in the news a bit last year, something about some French soldiers
  5. Another one while we wait for a clue from Lefty and an answer from Patrick.
  6. Exactly. Roman amphitheatres = oval or round with the 'stage in the middle Greek amphitheatres = semi-circular Turkey then.
  7. Can't remember the name, Olo or Ulu or something, but the waterfall is in Hawaii.
  8. I now have a horrible picture in my mind of you and Sam spit-roasting a bloodied baby seal with baseball bats in hand. Truly horrific. But funny as fuck!
  9. You just made me spew my coffee all over my computer.
  10. Wow that's such a blatant copy of Alexanderplatz if it wasn't for the cyrillic letters I'd have said (East) Germany. Looking at the nice shiny modern cars it has to be an oil producing country, but Russia being too obvious I'll guess at Kazakhstan.
  11. If I'm not mistaken Lovina Beach, Bali.

Congrats to the Canucks, and beers all round to celebrate. I take it Sam is buying
  13. Correct. The 'monkeys' are Sifaka lemurs and the impressive karst 'fields' are in the west of Madagascar. I watch too many wildlife documentaries.
  14. Clue. It's an island and they are, technically, not even monkeys.
  15. An easy one for animal lovers.
  16. Hmmm...... those are the Himalayas but looking at the trees not Nepal, so I'll guess at China.
  17. Whopping big cigar to you JaiDee. I filmed it 3 years ago when visiting. The driving style reminded me of Phnom Penh.
  18. OK another really easy one. Bonus point for the city. Edited to video.
  19. Of course BB is right. Barcelona with Columbus on his column in the background.
