  1. Very interesting article talking about the USA from top Canadian magazine Maclean's; worth the read. The U.S. is being overrun by a wave of anti-science, anti-intellectual thinking. Has the most powerful nation on Earth lost its mind? ''A national poll, conducted in March for the Associated Press, found that 42 per cent of Americans are “not too” or “not at all” confident that all life on Earth is the product of evolution.'' Sigh. http://www.macleans.ca/politics/america-dumbs-down/
  2. Well, Sam....you are in a system which provides socialized health care for all; how do you feel about it? Would you prefer that or what we had in America before 2012, where everyone just kind of fends for themselves and hopes they can get a decent plan through their work?
  3. Well, the main problem with that is that most people don't start a Gofundme page to try and cover their bills like this guy did, they just go to the hospital with no insurance and expect the rest of us to pick up the tab whether we want to or not. And we do; whether we want to or not. By ''forcing" people to pay into the system for health insurance - you know, like every other industrialized nation on earth does - everyone gets covered.
  4. I think this only strayed off-topic because this failure is using a GoFundMe page to cover his medical expenses, same as the Dancing Guy. I'd give my money to Dancing Guy way before I'd give it to this creep, here he is telling the world that he'd rather see women get shot than men. Yucch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Kbe8KqjmGo
  5. I did see that Hefe, he was also one of those idiots "militia" members who was at the Cliven Bundy Ranch last summer having a face-off with federal agents. At that time he really said this; Appearing on Fox News’ “The Real Story” on Monday, former Sheriff Richard Mack said he and other protesters “were actually strategizing to put all the women up at the front. If they are going to start shooting, it’s going to be women that are going to be televised all across the world getting shot by these rogue federal officers.” BTW, those ''rogue federal officers'' are also known as brave, on-the-clock paid federal agents from the bureau of land management who were rightfully trying to get some loser to pay his bill for allowing his cattle to graze on federal land. Yeah, he's a great guy. A big critic of Obamacare who now needs to beg from the public for help with medical bills, and a coward who is happy to hide behind women in the face of danger. Far Right-wing of America; this is your base!
  6. Been wondering that myself, PD......and there are many similar 'funding' websites which people raise money from, and ocassionally they will uncover a fraud but who knows which are real and which are scams? Hard to tell. This one seems legit, and in fact, since they are way over their goal [in just 36 hours or so!] I bet this guy will fly first-class and stay in a super-nice hotel room, etc.......they were trying for 20 grand, they are up to 31.5 now. http://www.gofundme.com/neverstopdancing I wonder if those skanks who posted the pics have heard about this yet? They will be shocked to see this guy wins in the end.
  7. Yeah, they sure are, and I bet it's quite common. This guy will have the time of his life; knowing the way celebrity culture works here in the US I am quite sure more and more people will come on board, he may even appear on Ellen or some morning TV show, and with stars like Pharrell and Moby on board already surely more will follow. Good for him, should be a great night with all those girls!
  8. This story really took off in the past few days......turns out some overweight guy was dancing at a club in London when some young girls laughed at him and took his photos and posted them to the internet. A group of girls in L.A. were angered by that, set out to find him, and did just that; all within the past 3 days. Now they are raising money to bring him to Los Angleles to have the dance party of a lifetime; he and 1700 girls! They've raised over 27K already and will fly him out there soon; Moby has already said he will DJ for free and with Pharrell Williams and surely some other heavy-hitters coming on board soon this will likely be an awesome event. The power of the internet at work! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2984032/That-make-Dancing-Man-happy-Pharrell-says-ll-play-party-1-700-women-man-tracked-Twitter-body-shamed-bullies.html Here's the Funding page; more than 27 grand in one day! He will have the time of his life. http://www.gofundme.com/neverstopdancing ''Ms Fairbanks said of her group of 1,727 women: 'We would like to fly him to LA for a VIP dance party with the coolest and most awesome ladies in la, please help..'' ''Casey Horan wrote: 'We want to throw him a huge dance party with tons of beautiful babes.'' ''Another pleaded: 'Help me and my 2,000 girlfriends.''

    Obituaries

Mister Kruger from the last season of Seinfeld, the owner of Kruger Industrial smoothing and George's boss, has passed away. Only 64 years young. http://abc30.com/entertainment/seinfeld-actor-daniel-von-bargen-dies-at-64/547059/
  10. Used to see a lot of them at the Foodland in Jomtien, oftentimes young ladies who were extremely attractive. But, as is their way, very off-putting and not very friendly, whether age 18 or 68. The TAT wanted 'quality tourists' to displace the Yanks and British hooligans - in return they got Indians and Arabs and Russians, and now more than even Chinese people who apparently don't follow the rules. Good trade?
  11. Welcome to America.......yes, those are bullets
  12. I'll take the category "Things you will never hear about on FOX News" for 200, Alex; http://www.wcvb.com/money/good-news-unemployment-at-lowest-in-7-years/31649308 ''The unemployment rate fell to 5.5%.....That's the lowest unemployment rate since May 2008 -- before the financial crisis. Unemployment has come a long way from a year ago when it was 6.7%.''
  13. Seen that beautiful pic before BB, I am sure it's in Italy but don't know the name of the town. Would love to go there!
  14. Regarding Bibi Netanyahu's speech at the US congress yesterday, Jon Stewart had THIS to say; “whether or not Netanyahu achieved his goals of sabotaging a deal with Iran or mistakenly opened up a rift in U.S.-Israeli relations, one thing is certain -- the in-chamber response to this speech is by far the longest blowjob a Jewish man has ever received."
  15. A comparison of a Beyonce song and Beck song.
  16. RE; the Kanye West deal; here is what he said after Beck won the grammy award; “Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé,” West said in an interview with E! after the ceremony. “At this point we tired of it because what happens is when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats in music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration. I am here to fight for creativity.'' The irony appears lost on that fool West, the fact that Beck plays something like 14 different instruments and has been known, same as Trent Reznor, to play ALL the instruments on some of his songs. Beyonce? Could be a great singer, not really sure, but me thinks pretty much anyone can auto-tune their voice into a proper range these days, and a lot of her songs are written by other people. Creativity? Inspiration? Respecting the craft? Seems like the Grammys chose the proper winner.

    Ulster Boy

The first Northern Irish guy I ever met was actually from Portadown as well; this was way before I ever started traveling in Asia and met all sorts of people from there as well as lots of other Euro countries, which really broadened my horizons. He pronounced it "Porta-doon." He was rather easy to understand for the most part, but when we used to have some chats about The Troubles and the true cause of them, it would get really confusing.....once he gave me a book, a novel but based on fact from around 1380, and said "JD, read this book and you will understand everything." Unfortunately, after reading I was more confused than ever :-) The very first Belfast accent I ever heard was from Jake Burns, talking to the crowd in between songs and telling us "you people are lucky, you have no idea what it's like growing up in a war zone." That was back in1980, the Nobodies Hero tour.

    Ulster Boy

Great old song by Sham 69....but a few weeks back, a real Ulster boy made the news with his take on the word "frostbit" and other musings on the cold Northern Irish weather and it went viral! People from Japan to America were charmed by his country accent. Do you think you could translate what he's saying without the subtitles? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMOHvEVVpGM
  20. Cool video, PD.....the worst traffic I have ever driven in myself was Ho Chi Minh city at rush hour, on a scooter; along with 3 million other people, what a madhouse. Kathmandu is no picnic either, but I hear some big Indian cities are the absolute worst.
  21. Yup, my car, a Caddy Deville Concourse Super-comfortable, not bad on gas either! About 25 mpg highway.
