bullseye Posted August 13, 2013 Share Posted August 13, 2013 Both Duke and SiamSam are right. "je parle" (présent) means "I speak" or "I am speaking", "je parlais" (imparfait) means "I was speaking". If you want to express "I spoke" you need to say "J'ai parlé" (passé composé). You can also say/write "je parlai"(passé simple) if you tell a story or a fairy tale. End of the french lesson.
