My Subscriber wanted to go on Monday to immigration to extend his 60 day visa but it's a holiday and Monday is his last day , no he cannot go on Friday - will he be rejected or fined 500 because They were shut - conflicting answers on this I heard they will just stamp him another 30 days and write overstay but "office shut " in thai in small writing - 1 day overstay because office not open for this weekends public holiday anybody ?

I cannot give a definitive answer but some thoughts:

1) If I am one day late extending my annual stay, I am shit out of luck and have to start the process over. A visa that is expired cannot be extended because the original visa is no longer valid.

2) Every Immigration office interprets the rules differently so someone's experience in Jomtien may be different than Bangkok.

3) Paying an agent a fee maybe his best option.

4) He could also do a border run on Saturday.  Or take a short trip to Cambodia.

5) Not applicable to your subscriber but in many Immigration offices you cannot extend for an extra 30 days ubtil 7 days before the originalvisa expires.

6) If. he does nothing he can pay a 500 baht per day fine at the airport but there could be implications re-entering Thailand again.  Also if he was caught before going to the airport then theoretically he could be imprisoned and deported.

I think that's a bit serious , how can you extend if they are shut , I know they do go easy if your visa expires on a weekend , Monday is long public holiday weekend they should be working , and if you go too early they will not do it I mean, they say come last day as they are backlogged with work ,

Every Immigration office has their own procedures.  Maybe your subscriber will be OK if he goes on Tuesday. But it is possible that an extension will be denied.  There is no guarantee.

Please let me know how it turns out.  I'm hoping for the best!

Good news!

Suggest that he get there when Immigration opens as it can be crowded after a 3 day weekend.

Hope he has a TM 30, that has to do with his lodging.  The hotel/guesthouse should do it but sometimes they don't. Just something to be aware of.
