  2. Residents evacuated amid Mount Mayon eruption warning !!! The cone of Mount Mayon is almost completely obscured by ash and steam. Picture by RonLopezPH via Twitter. People living near Mount Mayon has been ordered to evacuate their homes amid increasing volcanic activity. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised its alert level status from 1 to level 2 as the volcano began to spew ash and steam. Mayon, known as the Fuji of the Philippines due to its near-perfect cone shape, had “phreatic or steam-driven eruption” yesterday (Saturday, January 13) and there was a further eruption today. Yesterday’s eruption unleashed ash, rocks and a strong smell of sulphur. It was followed by rumbling sounds and a faint glow in the crater, Phivolcs said Alert level 2 means that current activity is “probably of magmatic origin, which could lead to more phreatic eruptions or eventually to hazardous magmatic eruptions”. A second ash eruption was recorded this morning, but Phivolcs has not yet raised the alert level any further. Mayon’s biggest eruption was in 1841, when lava flows buried a town, killing 1,200 people. It last erupted in 2014. “The public is strongly advised to be vigilant and desist from entering the six kilometre (3.7 mile) radius Permanent Danger Zone to minimise risks from sudden explosions, rockfall and landslides,” Phivolcs said in a statement today. It advised people experiencing ashfall to cover their noses and mouths with a damp, clean cloth or dust mask. It also ordered aircraft to give the volcano a wide berth. People living close to the volcano, but outside the official danger zone, were told to take precautionary measures against roof collapses due to accumulated ash and rainwater. Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum said the volcano may be due for an eruption as it had been displaying abnormal behaviour for several month. Despite this, Cedric Daep, head of the Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said people in evacuation centres may be allowed to return home later today, unless Phivolcs raised the volcano alert level further. “We have not reached the critical level,” he said in a radio interview. “Alert level 3 is what we considered critical, 4 is when eruption is imminent, and 5 is eruption in progress.” http://philippineslifestyle.com/mayon-volcanoeruption-warning/ Greetz , Stealth

  12. @Strocube Nice to hear that you can get her over with a fiance visa , hope that everything will work out fine and that you manage to get it... If you ask me i think it will be a good idea for you not to mention at all what type of visa she is going to get , these girls are desperately looking for a boyfriend and in most case a way out of the phillippines , when she hear the word fiance she will think that you are in love with her and is ready for a relationship and believe me it will be very hard to almost nearly impossible for you to explain to her that that is not the case , so my advice to you is just keep what type of visa it is for your self to keep expectations as min as possible , in time if you do get feelings for her and she is really what your looking for you can Always take it to the next level...... 14. Marawi - The Last 48 Hours AFP chief: IS funded Marawi siege through Malaysian Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Eduardo Año said Malaysian Mahmud bin Ahmad reportedly channeled more than $600,000 from the IS to acquire firearms, food and other supplies for the attack in Marawi. Money believed to be from illegal drugs also funded the uprising, he said. Mahmud was wounded in the fighting last month and reportedly died on June 7, he said. But when asked by AFP for confirmation of Mahmud’s reported death, Malaysia’s Inspector General Police Abu Bakar said: “Not true. He is still alive.” A local militant leader, Omarkhayam Maute, is also believed to have been killed in the early days of intense fighting and troops were looking for their remains to validate the intelligence the military had received. Troops are seeking the help of villagers to pinpoint the spot where Mahmud was reportedly buried, Año said. In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian police chief Khalid Abu Bakar acknowledged that Mahmud was in Marawi fighting with insurgents but said he believed the militant is still alive. Malaysian authorities are trying to determine the number of Malaysians who joined the siege but said at least four may have been killed in clashes. Two other rebel leaders, Isnilon Hapilon and Maute’s brother Abdullah, both Filipinos, were still fighting in Marawi, Año said. A former Malaysian university professor who became radicalized and received training in Afghanistan, Mahmud appeared in a video showing militant leaders planning the Marawi siege in a hideout, a sign of his key role in the uprising. A copy of the video was seized by troops on May 23. A month ago, about 500 local militants, along with some foreign fighters, stormed into Marawi, a bastion of the Islamic faith in the predominantly Roman Catholic nation. Troops since then have killed about 280 gunmen, recovered nearly 300 assault firearms and regained control of 85 buildings. Many of the taller buildings were used as sniper posts to slow down the advance of government forces, the military said. At least 69 soldiers and police and 26 civilians have died in the fighting. Only four villages in Marawi remain in the hands of the militants, out of the 19 of 96 villages across the lakeside city of 200,000 people that the black flag-waving militants had occupied. “They are constricted in a very small area. They’re pinned down,” Año said. He said three boatloads of gunmen who tried to join the militants were blasted by navy gunboats three days ago in Lake Lanao, which borders Marawi. Año said the battle was taking longer because the militants were using civilians as human shields. “We can just bomb them away or use napalm bombs to burn everything, but then, we will not be any different from them if we do that,” he said. The audacious attack by the heavily armed militants and their ability to hold on to large sections of a city for weeks surprised the government and sparked fears among Southeast Asian countries that the IS group was moving to gain a foothold in the region. Australian help Australian Defense Minister Marise Payne said the Philippines accepted an offer of two AP-3C Orion aircraft to provide surveillance to local troops. The US military earlier deployed a spy plane and drones over Marawi. http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2017/06/25/1713442/afp-chief-funded-marawi-siege-through-malaysian

  18. Duterte wants ‘public hanging’ of policewoman linked to Abu Sayyaf: ‘She’s a traitor!’ Police Superintendent Maria Christina Nobleza should be meted with death sentence via public hanging for colluding with the Abu Sayyaf group and receiving financial support from the Islamic State, President Duterte said last Saturday night (June 3). The President said they checked the remittance record of Nobleza which showed huge sums of money received from abroad to fund the local terror activity. “Tinignan namin ‘yung mga remittances. Ang palagi nakalabas na pangalan doon ‘yung babae, si Nobleza. ‘Yung pulis na pinapadalhan siya ng isang grupo doon na part of the terror groups fighting in the Middle East. She is really the lady that is a traitor to her country,” said Duterte in a press conference in Cagayan de Oro City. Duterte added: “‘Yan ang dapat na — if there were — then things go out of hand, dapat bitayin at public hanging siya. And I will not hesitate to do it if it comes to that. I will hang every traitor dito sa gobyerno.” “When I was reviewing the remittances of the Western Union, so ‘yung si Nobleza na ‘yun, siguro sa isang page naano, tatlong beses na… Maraming pera ‘yan. Maraming pera ‘yang si Nobleza. Makakakita ‘yan ng asawa ‘yan diyan sa loob. Mayaman ‘yung asawa niya. Maraming pera ‘yun,” he said. Nobleza was earlier arrested for attempting to rescue a suspected Abu Sayyaf bombmaker, who turned out be her lover, after a bungled raid in Bohol. Both are now detained at Camp Crame facing criminal charges.
