  1. This is again old info but 1st Class did have an afternoon run that booked up way in advance. Otherwise you had to do the early morning run (6 AM?). If it matters you might want to check out possible departure times at the various places to make your decision. I am not a plane, train or automible sleeper unfortunately. So I had to get started before sunrise for my shuttle and then was awake the whole time.
  2. I used 1st Class Visa Runs a couple of years ago. It's the one that now goes from the Queen Vic. It used to operate out of Witherspoons Pub on Soi Buakhao so maybe that is the one mardhi was thinking about? It has been a few years since I used the service. Good bucket seats and they have a DVD movie player. It helps if someone brings some good movies. The movie selection was bad/stupid for my visa run. Perhaps someone will have more up to date info. It's pretty boring unless you are lucky enough to be one of those people that can sleep through most of the trip.
  3. Yes I realize that. One way better than no way. But doesn't sounds like it matters anyway.
  4. If they close it I assume they will do so down to Soi 6? I guess you have some moderate access to Soi 4 hotels from Soi 2? I remember dragging my suitcase half way down Bangla one night upon arrival. Suitcase wheels are a wonderful thing.
  5. Could be worse, you could have taken a one way flight to go to a mountain in France to visit the coneheads...
  6. If they start paving now they will maybe be done by 2015...
  7. Several posts on the internet say 11:11 GMT/UTC. And of course everything posted on the internet is true. Bummer I will be asleep and miss the whole thing. I hope it isn't too noisy. I hate potato salad.
  8. I was a bit surprised to see the commerical on ESPN. And have only seen it once. FOX and ESPN seem to be trying to gain some traction for EU football in the states. Not unusual to see a Champions League fixture live in the early afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday. Sadly I enjoy that more than the US pro league. And the local Colorado team won the championship three season ago.
  9. I looked at a couple of rooms once and they were pretty nice and a bit unique. I can't seem to get to their web site at the moment to see the rooms I was in. I was looking at a big room with a balcony facing Club Blu which wasn't very far away. I was a bit worried about possible noise but I walked in the narrow space between Armageddon and Club Blu and not much music leaking through. I'll send you a PM with some other stuff.

    Pattaya-Diana-Oasis

I had a acquaintance that lived there for a while (he still may). He liked it but had a very small studio. I'm trying to remember how big. 27 sqm comes to mind but it might have been smaller. I think the type of studio he had is in one of the room pictures on the Oasis web site: http://www.diana-oasis.com/pictures.html search for View from Sofa Corner. The one where the bed is in the corner of the room butted up against the wardrobe and the TV stand is kind of a part of the wardrobe. Everything was kind of a tight fit. I think this is what you get in the lowest price room. It was nice enough but small. But it depends whether size matters to you. On a monthly rental electricity could add +-2000 baht. I didn't see if they mention what they charge for the electricity rate. Not long ago the power company charged 3.6 baht per unit and some places charge at much a 8 baht per unit making money off the electricity. That is what I know FWIW and is a couple of years old.
  11. I think this is the story BB is refering too but it doesn't name PBG. It says seafood restaurant.
  12. Thanks, I was with another well know gentleman on his motor bike and we found the place while just exploring. We were the only falangs for a while until a falang GG came in with a Thai guy. Some cute 20ish Thai GG that spoke English and seemed to sort of work there sat with us and we bought her a couple of beers. We were drunk when we got there and had five shots of Thai moonshine each. That is some foul tasting stuff...
  13. It's on the east side of 3rd road a short walk back a soi that is almost across 3rd Road from Soi Xyzte?? It looks very much like a place where I had too many shots of Thai whiskey one night. Maybe around here?? Or a little farther around the curve.
  14. Aqualung © Ian Anderson 1971 In the beginning Man created God; and in the image of Man created he him. 2 And Man gave unto God a multitude of names, that he might be Lord of all the earth when it was suited to Man 3 And on the seven millionth day Man rested and did lean heavily on his God and saw that it was good. 4 And Man formed Aqualung of the dust of the ground, and a host of others likened unto his kind. 5 And these lesser men were cast into the void; And some were burned, and some were put apart from their kind. 6 And Man became the God that he had created and with his miracles did rule over all the earth. 7 But as all these things came to pass, the Spirit that did cause man to create his God lived on within all men: even within Aqualung. 8 And man saw it not . 9 But for Christ's sake he'd better start looking. Well it made since back in my stoner days.
  15. I always considered latestays as a tool for those making late reservations during busy holidays just to see what is available. I haven't frequently tried Agoda but the few times I have after the fees and taxes I never found a savings over booking direct. I've never even tried on latestays. But I'm sure at the right time/place it happens. Just never anything I checked on. But it is worth checking the hotel price directly and comparing with Agoda (or the booking site of your choice).
  16. Some more old links I found when switching over to my new laptop. Sophon cable Pattaya movie quide. It's not unusual for a movie to start a few minutes early. http://pattayamail.com/stv/ Is this Sophon channel listing still up to date? I often found it off a channel or two because of the way different TVs scan for channels or a channel was completely off air when the scanning was done. http://pattayacablet.../videos/70.html
  17. I bumped into this site a couple of years ago and just found the link again. It supposidly shows availabliity and price for 197 Pattaya area hotels along with lots of other places. I have no idea how accurate it might be but someplace to start looking if searching for a late holiday booking. FWIW http://www.latestays.com/
  18. Surely Armageddon Bar on LK Metro will have one...
  19. You are breaking my heart with that sad story.
  20. A guy I know took the Bell Bus from Swampy to Pattaya about a week ago. He said they were unusually unorganized/confused. He strongly suggest having a printed copy of your receipt from the web site.
  21. No, not after I figured out the silver sign. You are quick, got here 5 minutes after me.
  22. The sign in the upper left is Modern City. I would have never known otherwise. From pattayaphotoguide.com
  23. That should stir up a bunch of polical crap in Thailand.
  24. Sorry to play the Scrooge roll but I was so disappointed my first Christmas in Pattaya when I discovered I wasn't going to get away from the Xmas hype. I walked into Royal Garden (years before Central Festival made it a ghost town) a few days before Thanksgiving and they were playing Christmas carols. I foolishly though I would escape all that stuff in a Buddhist country. I now return you to best wishes for the season. The Rockettes with cocks could get me in the spirit even though I'm not really a cabaret fan.
