Yes of course I remember them, I was hooked on the "Brit" sounds as a kid & indiscriminately sought them all out, but a few rose to the top, like the Kinks & Hollies as you said. Also as mentioned (DD,D,B,M & T) some were big in their home country & didn't travel well abroad: Pretty Things, Lulu....
...& there's that strange subset of Yanks that made it big in Ol'Blighty but are unknown in the U.S: The Walker Bros, PJ Proby.... Jackson C Frank had a "hit" (for a folkie) there: "Blues run the game" was hugely influential on people like Paul Simon & Bert Jansch & was covered by many Brit artists & then he came home died penniless & homeless on the streets of NYC.
