i myself as an expat ladyboy working here in bangkok both decently and also as escorting.....i am very much alarmed by this police constantly setting up and victimizing sex workers posting ads in craigslist or working in the streets in nana i know a lot of friends of mine who are non thai who works here without the proper papers just as tourist or student visa...specially now is low season theyre very much everywhere victimizing you and planted any sort of offense on you either youre just walking in the streets at night even just going on your way home waiting for the bus to come....they check your id and once you dont speak your language thats were they start to have ideas and set you up over something.....

upon website calls either incall or outcall often times they use farangs as baits acting as client they most likely operate in craigslist.....according to my friends experience suddenly one falang just call her and visit her in her hotel while other friend of mine told her to meet in a certain place....what happen is gangs of people just tell her your under arrest blah blah blah and you come with us.......one time one friend of mine told me if she tell the hotel reception they will surely arrest her and send her to jail....yes the typical scene is they go to the police station in a close door office and the bidding starts.....they scare you of deporting you or put you in prison but then suddenly they ask something from you instead of sanctioning you.......check your bags and wallets and suddenly once they see money in your wallet of bag they will grab all of them..........and your case is clear you can no go back and work again

in the streets they wear in civilian clothes specially in nana both thai or any foreigners who work in the street get victimize by police and sent to lumpini police station and ask 1 thousand per head they come in 3 or more van and goes around from nana to asoke and pick anyone they see in the street yes 1thousand per head so if they fill up the van for sure its gonna be a lot

one thing that really bugg me so much is i am still thankful not being victimize by this kind of maffia but then in this low season police and maffia are everywhere and they become aggressive even here in khao san they victimize falang over smoking joints and charge them for it not to mention in my visa run to cambodia we pass to several check points around the road on the way back in bangkok and check our bags passport and everything which wasnt like this during high season i dont know if the thai national police is changing their laws and systems or probably in this low season theyre very much hungry for money

One thing I always found mildly amusing is that even in scams, the infamous double pricing applies.   Thai's streetwalking = 500b. Foreigners = 1000b.

However you can hardly 'blame' the police - they are actually just upholding the laws of the country.   The difference here is if you can pay, nothing comes of it - unlike for example Singapore or Hong Kong.   .

Over the years I have stayed in the Banglumpoo/Khao San Road area from time to time.  On most occasions when I strolled off the beaten track late at night I was sure to bump into a lone cop, waiting in some quiet soi hoping to shake me or some unsuspecting newbie in town down for a few Baht.  There never got me on anything of course,   but is was a hassle most nights when I stayed in the more out of the way places.
