  1. Ning seems to be very very popular - she keeps getting barfined out, as indeed are all the girls in Anaconda - everyone of them is very happy so it seems. Two nights ago, only the cashier remained - every other girl was barfined out. Cheers Mardhi
  2. Event nights are not like normal nights - typically on a normal night both Service & Hostess staff all muck in together - its not like a them and us mentality and that is the same way GB works. But as I say, I was not even aware she had been hired until someone mentioned her. The bar management do all their own hiring and determining which roles people undertake and I assume that Aun would have been part of that process with Noon. However, what has often happened is that people switch teams. Both Joy, Nieu, Toy, Moo all started out as hostesses but wanted to switch to be service based. Conversely some of the old service staff in GB wanted to switch to become hostess staff - they have different salary structures so someone who gets barfined a lot, earns a lot more money as a hostess, someone who gets barfined the least, will earn a much higher salary as a service staff member. It may sound a weird system but it was designed by Thai's for Thai's and it does work oddly enough. If she had wanted to be a service staff, I am sure that is what would have been provided as vacancies exist in both teams. Hopefully all the new team will stay - however as has been proven from experience some do not last the course and drop out - its normally in the first week if it occurs.
  3. she was wearing hostess uniform that night, so maybe fair to assume she is working as a hostess, however most of the BKK team are working as service and they will start to go back to BKK as the bar gets more and more staff so maybe will switch if she stays. The big if, is always will they stay.
  4. Just to clarify - I think your right and there are a huge amount of hard working people who are not corrupt and have their integrity intact. However what I am suggesting is that there are an increasing amount of people who assume wealth should be there's by right, rather than actually getting of their backside and earning it. That is the big change as the country moves from a single unit dwelling area to one where families are all over the place. However people are seeing it with their own eyes and its not foreigner related. Just look at Thai soap operas. they broadly split into two camps - the hi so wealthy Thai's driving around in flash cars and so on and the 'historical' movies featuring Thailand of old. The Hi so ones invariably portray, Greed, theft and so on - these movies are watched continually by run of the mill Thai's. They aspire to it. Some do it by creating wealth - others do it by other means. The red shirt movement is an altogether different animal. Its a political arm, no more and no less. Its a means for taking and keeping power. The unfortunate thing is that the last government were so inept they could not see the writing on the wall and overcome what needed to be achieved to win these people over. One of the coalition partners at the time, was spot on - he said, no matter what, just dump load of money into infrastructure projects in Issan. Build new hospitals, new schools, new roads - show the majority that you do have their interests at heart. Unfortunately, it was not done and they lost the election. The political future of the country is controlled by the Issan vote. Takky knows it better than anyone and the Democrats still have failed to understand it. Win them over and you will win in every election. I can see where this is heading and I do not think it will be good for anyone least of all the poorest in the country - they are being used as cannon fodder but they do not realise it. This is about power at the top not helping the poorest & weakest, other than to get their vote - which they get by building an infrastructure that promises much and delivers little other than a 500b note come voting time. That's why I say, the intent to keep the education system the way it is will not change soon despite the claims of the political parties.
  5. I had no idea that the other half of Corner Bar had started in Anaconda until I believe it was Kahuna who pointed it out. Shows how much attention I pay to these things LOL. Anyway especially for Dave...

    KOYO 7

Lucky you were not drinking shorts. Red label & soda is 145b in Koyo. Might explain why so few customers - its more expensive than aircon bars in Bangkok. By the way, there has been no price increases put through by the manufacturers recently (however some are thinking about it) although some bars are using it to increase prices blaming it on floods etc etc.
  7. I should have guessed - Noon has lined up an Issan Music band so if you like watching LB's going ballistic on the dance poles come along for what should turn out to be a very enjoyable night. As always, partners are always made very welcome at the bar so bring along a squeeze and she will have a great night as well with the music on offer.
  8. This is a common thought process and someone must be too blame. So its the foreigner. Despite only about 5% of the entire country ever coming into contact with them....... Thailand has always been a country of have's (very very few) and have not's (like 99% of them) - however what is changing is that the have not's want more and the have's don't want them to have it. That is why the education system in this country is still stuck in the dark ages. They are kept uneducated for a reason and its nothing to do with foreigners - we don't set education policy etc etc. The greed factor is what is changing - everyone wants more money now and not content to be poor. There is a deep cultural change happening over the last few years and it will continue as the masses start to realise they are being trashed on continually by the people with the money. In my experience in business here - foreign companies are much more generous and fair than Thai owned companies.
  9. Noon is holding her birthday party this year at Anaconda rather than Guess and will be laying on plenty of food and I believe has some kind of band lined up. Its entirely up to her how she does it and I am not privy to exactly what she lined up. However I know for a fact that she detests the 1000b/500b/100b money belt things so you wont be seeing one of those around her neck (and nor at any other Anaconda parties). The fun will be starting after 9pm and more likely knowing her, more like 10pm onwards.
  10. Aun has been hired as one of the managers in the bar and is not a hostess staff. I assume she will not therefore wear uniform like the hostess but am not 100% sure either way. I have heard lots of good things about her but never met her so will be interesting to see how she gets on in a LB bar.
  11. They have been instructed not to approach customers and as PD says its a balancing act. Once the bar gets up to its optimal staffing (they are looking for 25) then you won't be able to avoid contact with them and I suspect the bullring (inside the counter bar) as I jokingly call it will become centre stage - however from day 1 they have been told not to approach. I am actually quite surprised it seems to be working, however it is fair to say its a big bar and currently looking quite sparse of talent - albeit oddly enough they have more staff than many other LB venues - however the space is large and it does need more. Two new staff are starting tonight and many more are under consideration however its always the chicken & egg situation - which comes first, staff or customers - both need each other to ensure repeat visits and a good atmosphere developing. However, they are very strict on who gets hired - they don't want skanks and won't take them - however there are hundreds of those ones looking but few decent ones. Even as new ones get hired, some will drop out - its just normal situation however as has been demonstrated with Guess, if you pay well and treat them good, the staff are by far the best asset of any bar. Cheers Mardhi

    Corner Bar

She would not be running it - it would be taking care of the service team (of which there are planned to be 5, be it LB or GG's). There job is to get drink orders executed quickly and correctly. The cashier (who is a GG) in the bar has the day to day control albeit Noon (who is a LB and has final say) is there most days and always by phone if need be. They have strict rules though. Its service first, no hassle (or least hassle probably more realistic), etc etc - just common sense to a foreigner. However neither Ananconda or Guess have mamasans anymore - since they were removed the hostess staff are much much happier and keeping much more of their pay as well. Its a weird formula but it does work. Also helps they have no freelance staff and staff get very well paid - without loads of fabricated deductions. Typical service girl will earn 10,000b as an example purely in salary.

    Corner Bar

If Aun is as good as you suggest and she is looking for a job, tell her to go talk with Cherry or Noon about service team at Anaconda - they are looking for 5 at the moment on that team incl a team leader for service. She would probably be blown away with the salaries on offer.
  14. Sorry to break your heart Dave but Tong is a BKK employee and won't be in Pattaya for long - infact she is upcountry at moment and then heading back to Guess bar once Loy Kratong is over (assuming of course no flooding). The girls in BKK are used to an income level that cannot be supported in Pattaya so hardly anyone wants to stay over and above what is being asked of them in terms of helping out.
  15. You might want to delete this entire post or at the very very least remove names - Thailand has some incredibly strict defamation laws and the OP has just broken all of them. It would only take a person to go and make a police report to set the wheels in motion and hey presto - OP is in Jail on his trip and facing huge amount of trouble. It does not matter if the comment is factual or not - under Thai law, its all about is it in the public interest to have this made public or even infer something and in the case of medical history - its 100% confidential. It does not matter about the rights and wrongs of discussing it - its about privacy and that is how the law is written in this country.
  16. 4th Pic is TOY from Guess Bar currently working service team in Anaconda. 5th pic is Tokki/Dokki, then UM, then NEW. As FB said, the other girl is MILK also from Guess Bar and probably there for another 10 days before heading back to study, assuming BKK is not totally under water. In addition, currently there is Cherry, Moo, Joy and Neui all from Guess Bar. There are a couple of other new starters from yesterday and today but I have not seen them nor any pictures yet. There should be about 14 currently working there, although as is often the case, they stay one day and don't come back etc etc.
