  1. I don't think it has anything to do with the junta; in fact, things seem to be getting better here by the day. I stay out of those show bars. My guess is they're preying on tourists. Too much fun to be had off the beaten track to mess around on Walking Street.
  2. Well, one thing that's constant is that the AC seems to be down again.
  3. Strange article. I haven't talked with the Windmill manager, but he doesn't appear very Thai to me. He speaks Thai well enough, but has a low-so accent so I assumed he learned it from BGs. Anyway, Windmill is open, and one of my favorite girls from Babydolls just started working there. There's also a Thai version of Xtina with a very impressive rack. X-Zone is very shut.
  4. Wise words. Getting back to the hair flick thing: Living well is the best revenge. If someone wants to give me grief, I do my best to ignore them and just continue having fun. It usually drives them nutz. Lots of fish in the sea, and lots of LBs in Thailand!
  5. Weekend before last, hit all my favorite bars (including Windmill and X-Zone). No nudity problems, and they were all about fun as usual. Hoping to be back in a couple days.
  6. Have great respect for what Prayuth is doing but the handling of the curfew seems a bit strange. Should be fun in the bars tonight!
  7. Prayuth said he will lift the curfew as soon as possible, but not today. What a tease!
  8. Interesting. Prayuth has a nationally telecast speech scheduled for 9PM. Maybe he's trying to increase his ratings.
  9. Quite a few checkpoints in greater Bangkok, but most tourists would never see them. The soldiers don't seem to be stopping anyone, but the police OTOH are stopping every motocy they can. It's like the end of the month around here!
  10. Prayuth just announced the Bangkok curfew may be lifted as soon as tonight. Wonder why they're being coy about it.
  11. Thai newspapers are reporting that the curfew in Bangkok may be lifted tonight. Spent last weekend in Pattaya where the lifting of the curfew had a great effect on my favorite bars; the girls were happy, and some bars stayed open much later than usual. Wonder if that had anything to do with the recent staff shuffling at the police department. Would love to see Bangkok bars open late again!
  12. Ratchaprasong intersection to be closed on Sunday (1 June). Amarin Plaza and Kesorn Plaza malls will be closed. Prolly a good idea to avoid the area. Lots of places to hang out on Soi 4!
  13. Curfew changed to 1AM ~ 4AM. Getting better all the time...
  14. Ragdamri, Ploenchit, and Chtilom BTS stations to be closed on Sunday at 9AM. May open later in the day if all is okay.
  15. The problem with getting a Thai into the US is that one must prove the Thai will return to Thailand. Unfortunately, a return ticket isn't enough; one must show things like a good job (not a job in a go-go or beauty shop), owning a car or real estate, owning a business, things like that. Also, if a US citizen writes a letter of invitation or agrees to take care of a visitor, that can actually make things worse as Immigration might think the Thai is coming over for the purpose of marriage. Years ago, some guys were flying Thais into Canada and then crossing the border into the US. I suspect the border has tightened up in recent years. Then again, maybe Mexico through Tijuana is an idea...
  16. Haven't seen much to support bugging out yet. The number of Red Shirts at Victory Monument is small; <200. Reds released so far seem contrite. There have been ZERO attacks from the Reds since martial law. The military is continuing to make progress dismantling UDD. Popular regional Red leaders (such as Rambo Isaan) are retiring. Progress also being made against PTP, and various schemes. The farmers are being paid.
  17. Currently driving through Nonthaburi heading to Que Pasa. Traffic way less than usual. Seems strange to me.
  18. Victory Monument and feeder roads closed again. Best to avoid for now. Thanks bumblebee.

    Beautiful Niki

No problem. Stop off at Que Pasa on the way and have a few Margaritas!
  20. Victory Monument open. Three (or four) arrested including one farang.
  21. Victory Monument and feeder roads closed. Not good for minivans.
  22. Facebook was down for me only a short time. Maybe a test. Maybe an accident. Maybe a threat. Lots of rumors why, but no definitive word yet.
  23. Latest news is midnight to 5AM. Effective tonight.
  24. Curfew relaxed. Now midnight to 5 AM.
