Some bars figure it is just better for them to close if they can't serve alcohol or play music. These are often good night to sip a soda on a Walking Street chair, peaceful without music. Historically the Buddha days where bars often can't serve booze along with the 2012 date: Macka Bucha Day March 7 Visakha Bucha Day June 4 Asalha Puja Day Aug 2 Buddhist Lent Day Aug 3 Also Dec 5th is Father's Day, the birthday of His Majesty The King; the bars often don;t sell booze.
