Mr Nasty's animal stories

Hi all, I've just managed to grab Lung's computer again, because I've just seen a BKK flood story that I thought was of some interest.

At any rate, with over a hundred & forty different registered poisonous snakes in this country I'm not quite sure why this story has been highlighted so much.

PDogg, any chance of pulling my monkey story over to here?

@Dabbler, I thought the same as you about all the lovely Thai people collecting up the little dogs & puppies, but don't worry yourself too much, it's only 'Black Dog' that they eat... Yumie

Anyway, here it is:-

Nonthaburi Governor Wichian Phutthiwinyu yesterday assigned a team to hunt for 15 deadly green mamba snakes that escaped from a flooded home in Pak Kret district on Tuesday.

Saying that none of the creatures had been confirmed captured, Wichian urged people not to try to capture or kill the yellowishgreen snakes of 12 metres in length themselves, because the serum for their venom wasn't available in Thailand. Anyone who spotted such a snake should instead call for expert assistance via the hotline on 1131 or 1363.

Earlier in the day, a widelycirculated tweet claimed a green mamba had been found on Soi Kosumruamjai, but this has not been confirmed. Wichian has also contacted the National Parks Department in a bid to track down other wildlife dealers with permits to handle such snakes, and check if any more were loose.

Pimuk Simaroj, directorgeneral of the Zoological Park Organisation, said the tipoff over the escaped mambas had come from an Internet website, and officials had not yet traced the snakes' owner. Explaining that the mambas' natural habitat was trees, he advised people to stay away from isolated wooded scrubland and urged anyone bitten by a snake to wash the wound and see a doctor immediately.

'Gangster' tourist-attacking monkeys finally caught

A gang of 'sharp-toothed' monkeys have been caught at a Phnom Penh temple as part of a crackdown on unruly animals attacking tourists.

Vets from the zoo tranquilised 13 macaques at the Wat Phnom pagoda and the operation is set to continue.

Nhek Rattanak Pich, director of Phnom Tamao Zoo and rescue centre, told news.com.au: 'Phnom Penh authorities asked us to remove the violent monkeys from the temple... The guards there said many visitors had been bitten by big monkeys.'

The temple is crowded with about 200 semi-tame macaques who occasionally cause havoc when they stray towards nearby homes and hotels, tearing tiles off roofs, destroying laundry and making off with items left lying around.

Cambodian police have even described the macaques as 'gangster' monkeys in the past after an attempt to trap them with eggs laced with sleeping pills failed.

Authorities put a £150 bounty on several of the animals' heads, while a violent 20-kilogram monkey was even shot dead in 2008 at the temple after it attacked visitors.

Pich said blood samples from the recently-caught monkeys would be tested to check for diseases before the animals are sent either to the zoo or freed in remote forests near Tonle Sap lake - far away from the capital and its tourists.

@Willy... Thanks man!.. Yeah only in Thailand...But anyway, why collect Green Mambas? There are tree snakes here that are almost identical to Green Mamba? (which obviously isn't going to make anyone's job any easier... But the Black Mamba's the one to have , best 'lb' for 'lb' killing machine in the aminal kingdom outside of the insect world. it's been clocked at 30 mph across land & across water, plus it's aborial too & it's a sporadic biter that can stand upright on its tail & go straight for your face in the blink of an eye, these things are just frighteningly awsome, they've been known to come through chimney's & kill whole families. These things will actually chase YOU!!!.. Some plonker's been collecting the wrong fucking snake, 'the also ran'... Thankfully.

However, the Green Mamba is also one of the only snakes in the world that will actually 'set chase' after a human, they're fearless!

@Lefty, I agree with you complicitly... And I'd be just the cat to pull the switch man... Jeeeez, has if I ain't got enought problems with the local inhabitants. Some big, viscious, African bastard, on the lose is all I need.

@PDogg, Thanks I owe you 'kittycat'.

Ah, fuck it, as much as I hate dogs, every now & then something gives me a nice little glow & this is what did it for me this morning... just feel damm sorry for the black ones that are going in the pot.

Please excuse my spelling everyone, I'm a cat.
