  1. Over the past few days announcements have come out that appear to have driven sheer terror in some Thai expats, with the Thai Government saying this year’s Songkran will be the biggest one ever.

This announcement, which we covered here, has to do with UNESCO officially recognising the event as a cultural world heritage and Thailand hoping to further attract the event to tourists on a global scale.

Specifically, the statement that the event would be celebrated from April 1st to the 21st across Thailand caused a lot of panic and a lot of confusion. This was mostly because many feared this meant 21 days of water throwing.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival was entirely cancelled in 2020 and in 2021 and 2022 water play and throwing was banned and only religious functions were allowed, much to the pleasure of some readers who strongly dislike this portion of the festival (Although it is popular with many tourists, especially social media influencers and younger tourists).

Last year, however, the water play returned and will also be a part of this year’s festival, indeed, Thailand is even basically openly promoting it, knowing that it attracts many tourists. To be fair, for those living and working full time, especially in Pattaya where the water play often lasts about a week, it can be a difficult period.

A few months back some prominent Thai officials said the festival would last all April but again, criticism and panic ensued around if this meant a month of water throwing.

Basically, the 21 days of Songkran is nothing new. Different parts of Thailand have celebrated the festival on different days for various reasons for decades. Pattaya’s big day, for example, is April 19th, partly to encourage domestic tourism after the official national days.

The official national days, by the way, will remain April 13th to the 15th, with public holidays running to the 16th. Pattaya, as usual, will likely run from the 12th to about the 19th.

In terms of the 21 days, the thought process behind this is NOT 21 days of water throwing. Instead, it’s best to think about it like Christmas, in which decorations, music, cultural presentations, etc. will take place for the entire month. The idea for Songkran is similar, with events proposed across Thailand from April 1st to the 21st, almost all of them focused on religious, cultural, and traditional heritage aspects.

Yes, there will still be water play, but according to Thai officials it will be limited to the official days and not the whole three week period.

So, for now, readers can rest easy that this doesn’t mean 21 days of water throwing across Thailand. Regardless, many of our regular readers and expats likely will plan to either stay indoors or even leave Thailand during the festival, while droves of tourists, domestic and foreign, arrive.

Here's the video of the finals night. I skipped over the first 20 minutes of advertising.

Some thoughts without spoiling who won for the guys who haven't seen it yet..........

I don't think the top 3 girls or top 5 girls were significantly better than the rest.  As RX stated, they are all beautiful. So I don't think the winner was particularly special.  I do think Miss Tiffany 2022, who was also part of the show, is much prettier than any of the finalists.  Perhaps she is a famous MTU winner; I don't know.

One of the judges was from a cosmetic surgery hospital.  IMO this is a real conflict of interest and sends the signal one needs cosmetic surgery to be competitive.

I'd like to see a Miss Original Universe pageant where the only requirements are that one is M2F Trans and have no surgery whatsoever.

RX, do you have any info about #4, who did not make the Top 12.

Thanks again for posting RX.  My better half and I watched both on separate nights.

This video is from the preliminary round yesterday. This year there are a lot of contestants from professional university studies. This year also had the highest number of applicants as it is the 25th anniversary.

My better half and I just finished watching the Preliminary Round video.  Some observations:

I understand that ladyboys believe that breast implants makes them more ladylike.  I don't understand why beautiful Thais want to get nose jobs so they look more faranglike.

Times are changing with awards such as Miss Social Media Influencer and Miss Collagen!

Many visible camel toes through the swimsuits.

My favorite, #4, had a deeper voice than the others and spoke extremely quickly.

Thanks for posting the video RX!

  6. A Thai hairdresser in Jomtien found himself in an unusual situation after an angry Russian customer took a razor from him and shaved part of his hair following a misunderstanding during a haircut.

According to reports, Mr. Supachai Maneecharoen, a 32-year-old hairdresser from Nakhon Si Thammarat, was cutting the hair of a male Russian customer on January 25th when the incident occurred. Due to language barriers, the customer used hand gestures to communicate his desired hairstyle. Mr. Supachai, believing he understood the instructions, proceeded with the haircut. However, towards the end of the haircut, the customer allegedly became dissatisfied and slammed his hand on the table, startling everyone in the shop.

In a surprising turn of events, the Russian customer reportedly snatched a razor from the table and quickly shaved a section of Mr. Supachai’s head before fleeing the salon on a motorcycle. The Thai hairdresser, shaken by the experience, reported the incident to the Pattaya Police Station.

“I’ve been a hairdresser for over seven years, and this has never happened before,” Mr. Supachai stated. “Despite the shock, I remained calm and hope the customer will come forward to apologize and explain his actions.”

Mr. Supachai later decided to shave his head after the incident.

Police have obtained CCTV footage from the salon, which reportedly shows the entire incident. An investigation is currently underway to identify the customer and determine the appropriate course of action.

  9. A British citizen died on Saturday when he attempted to base jump from the 29th floor of a condominium in Pattaya but his parachute failed to deploy.

Pattaya police say that the victim, 33-year-old Nathy Odinson, owned the Nathy’s Sky Photography website and asked a friend to film his jump from the condominium as online video content.

His parachute, which was still attached to him, failed to open, causing him to crash into a tree and then to the ground.

An employee at the condominium reportedly told the police that the victim had previously visited the condominium and yesterday he parked his car, took a lift to the 29th floor and jumped.

    Bangkok bank

If one is on a 30 day visa exempt stamp it can be very difficult to get a Thai bank account.  However there are some visa agents who for a fee and get accounts for people on 30 day visa stamps.

OK, I'll take a stab it it since no one else has. The "lovely" contrasting colours between the urinal and wall do look strangely familar, but really I have no idea.

    I will guess Bon Bar.

A logical guess but it is a tough one, probably too tough.  It's the hong nam at the new Canteburry Tales Bookstore on Soi Bongkot.

IMHO, ladyboys who are too tight should stay away from p4p and mongers should create blacklists for them

In Farangland there are many escort review sites and it motivates an escort to give a good performance because she doesn't want bad reviews.  It's really important if you are paying 300 Euro or whatever these escorts charge.  It becomes less important if you are paying 1000 baht or 1200 baht.

When Ladyboy Review started it was intended as a Review site which also had a forum.  Most of our members didn't care about the Review part so we got rid of it.  99% of Bolt drivers are extremely nice and I think their star rating system has much to do with that.  I either give drivers 5 stars or don't rate them at all since it's so cheap that I don't want to tank a driver's rating if he is slightly grumpy or takes an inefficient route.

For simplicity let's categorize customer complaints about ladyboys into two buckets.  Bucket 1 are things like she's says she can do everything in the bar and when she gets to the room she says you're too big.  Bucket 2 are much more serious thing such as drugging you and stealing your money.  Let's also make an assumption that bar owners don't give a shit about your complaints.  Even if barowners don't care, I would think that a lady(boy) who is a thief prefers to completely disappear after the deed so a bar or even a TF type site where theoretically the thief could be tracked if the problem was serious enough is safer than the street although I suppose on the street can CCTV track her.  I think the most dangerous situation is two unknown ladyboys pulling up to you on a motorbike.

As far as bedroom performance, asking friends which ladyboys would they take a second time is a somewhat good indicator of her performance.  A friendly barowner might also be able to provide such info.  Where this won't work well is in the Nana shitpits where mamasans might get a kickback from certain girls if recommended.

Te above is just my two baht.  YMMV

    Big kudos to miss Joy

My first visit to Cindy's was very early in the evening when some of the girls were still putting on makeup.  I was the only customer and just wanted one beer to see what the joint was like. Joy's welcoming attitude really impressed me.  It wasn't so I would buy drinks or barfine but rather a genuine attempt to make a customer feel welcome in a brand new bar.  Neither Cindy nor Gav was around and it seemed as if Joy was in charge.

On a subsequent visit I was chatting with Cindy and she was also trying to her best to make us feel welcome.  It was a similar vibe to my conversation with Joy a week or so earlier.

I liked the music playing and volume was a good fit for the time of night, in line with the amount of people inside.

Good sound system playing at the proper volume. I Shazamed a few tunes to add to my DJ sets.   Thought the Block and Crown version of Respect which I hadn't heard before was a really good fit for a ladyboy bar.  Most Farang like Respect and the Block & Crown house version appeals to the girls.  Not easy to find music that both farang and young ladyboys enjoy but it does exist.
