Police attempted to arrest a 49 year old female bar owner on Wednesday night, for selling Liquor to members of the public on a Holy Day when the sale of such items are prohibited under Thai Law. The Army was called in and used their powers under Martial Law to detain the woman after she refused to be taken away by the Police.
The unusual incident occurred at the Everybody’s Inn in Soi Welcome off Jomtien Beach Road at 9pm on Wednesday Night, 3 hours before the 24 hour ban on sale of liquor was due to expire.
Police entered the licensed premise and spoke with the owner, Khun Papitchaya, who Police described as intoxicated and confrontational. Officers took pictures of alcoholic beverages in front of foreign patrons, who were told to pay their bills and leave.
During a 2 hour conversation with Police, the owner is alleged to have used profanities directed to the Police, who were eventually forced to call in the Army who could use their special powers under Martial Law, to detain the woman, who was then taken to the Police Station for questioning.
The venue was correctly licensed but she was charged with selling liquor on a Holy Day and verbal abuse towards a Royal Thai Police Officer. The case continues.

He's in trouble now.
The Justice Department is preparing to file corruption charges against Senator Robert Menendez, a scrappy 61-year-old veteran of New Jersey politics, after a two-year investigation into allegations that he accepted gifts and lavish vacations in exchange for political favors for a longtime friend and political benefactor.
A law enforcement official said on Friday that the charges would be filed within a month against Mr. Menendez, the son of Cuban immigrants, who rose from a childhood in the tenements to become the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is now the highest-ranking Latino Democrat in Congress.
Republicans called for his immediate resignation.
The federal investigation began with a salacious tip — unproven and vehemently disputed by Mr. Menendez — that Dr. Melgen had helped pay for under-age prostitutes for the senator in the Dominican Republic. The women who made the accusations ultimately recanted, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation continued its inquiry.

The bar area is a few mins walking distance from Sukhumvit, where the buses run. When you are in the area, you will see a Tesco Lotus on the right. You will get off the bus a very short distance on the left, at Soi 25. Just before Soi 25 is Soi 23, there is a 7-11 and a doctor's office. Soi 25 has a traffic light, and a big motorcycle shop with a red and white striped facade. All the bars and Camel Inn and the Chang Inn Hotel are on Soi 25.

I guess the van that took us there took a different route because I don't recall a minutes drive from Sukhumvit.
This makes going there easy. And if I can't find the bus I can just go to Telephone Bar instead.
But still concerned about exactly where to wait to catch the bus back and flaging it down in the dark. Have no idea how to find a bus schedule.

I was there just once, maybe twice, forget.
The bars are in a quaint little town and as I recalled quite a distance from Sukhumvit though the street could be called Sukhumvit Soi 25.
If it's easy to get to as in a bus that goes from Sukhumvit and Pattaya Tai directly to the bar area then I'm interested in going for sure.
And am concerned about the return trip as don't want to be straded there at 8PM.
If it's too complicated, just not worth the effort for me. The I-Rovers van was easy though I was locked into their arrival and departure times.

I don't recall if there is a bus stop under the pedestrian bridge at Sukhumwit and South Road, but have caught the bus there quite a few times.
Yes there is a pedestrian bridge there. That's where I get off the "Jomtien Bus" from Swampy then I cross the bridge and take a baht bus down Pattaya Tai to my place.
So do you pay on the bus or is there some sort of ticket seller there?

Go to Sukhumvit, take a big blue city bus going South to Rayong, and get off in Ban Chang.
Not usually very crowded, and they stop whenever someone wants to get off.
Price is cheap too. Something like 25 THB.
Is their a bus stop on Sukhumvit or can you flag it down anywhere?
The bus gets off Sukhumvit and goes through the town with the bars?
If I knew exactly to how to get there I'd go one of these days.

There are

Bars in and around Soi Nana have been told it’s back to business as usual from today as far as closing times go by Lumpini police, who declared to bar bosses on Tuesday it was early closing for two weeks.
It seems whatever reasoning they had behind their decision for early closing was scuppered when a blog made ridiculous claims the order was city wide bringing unwanted attention to local activities.
It was apparent last night there was no order outside of Lumpini as bars and clubs in Patpong, Thonglor and RCA all closed at their normal times.
To confirm, bars in and around Soi 4, including Nana Plaza, will return to normal closing times, effective immediately. Everywhere else in Bangkok is operating as normal, as they were all along.

For passengers flying into La Guardia Airport, the majestic New York City skyline cannot help but command attention.
But for pilots, especially pilots landing planes on Runway 13, it is the Flushing Bay that looms large.
That runway, one of two at La Guardia, is a 7,000-foot stretch of asphalt and concrete, partially laid on steel piers that extend out over the water. The runway can freeze fast in winter, but even in good weather, there is little room for error.
On Thursday, at the height of a snowstorm, Delta Air Lines Flight 1086 touched down on Runway 13 shortly after 11 a.m., veering out of control almost instantly.
It skidded off to the left and then careened up an earthen berm, crashed through a fence, and came to a stop just moments before plunging into the frigid bay.
None of the 127 passengers and five crew members were seriously injured, but many passengers described a few harrowing minutes.
Steve Blazejewski, who was in a window seat on the left side, said the plane felt “out of control” almost as soon as it touched down. He said it seemed to veer at an angle of about 20 degrees as it bumped along the runway.
“We were skidding forward but veering off to the left,” said Mr. Blazejewski, 39, a real estate executive with Prudential who was traveling on business from his home in Georgia. He said he began to worry as the bay quickly got closer.
“I said to myself that we were going to go into the water,” he recounted in a phone interview.
He said he recalled the US Airways flight that landed in the Hudson River six years ago. Then, because he was sitting next to an emergency exit door, he said, “My next thought was: How do I get this door open?”
Mr. Blazejewski, a veteran of the United States Navy, never had to answer that question because the wing beside him was damaged. Flight attendants guided him and the other passengers to exit onto the right wing, which also was damaged, as were the plane’s nose and tail, he said.
Several other passengers took to social media even before they had escaped the plane.
