  1. Guess who's Numero Uno?

Hint: It's not in the Middle East!

It’s one of many hilarious anecdotes in Jim Bouton’s classic exposé of Major League Baseball, Ball Four. He recalls an unnamed teammate talking to a young woman who asks him if he’s married and he replies, “Yeah, But I’m not a fanatic about it.”

Well, millions of people are just like him. Even though ‘thou shalt not commit adultery’ comes in at number 7 on the Top Ten Commandments list, over 80% of American consider adultery more objectionable than human cloning, suicide, and polygamy. That’s why they call it cheating.

But there are countries where infidelity is somewhat morally acceptable, or at least a pleasurable vice. In France the President was caught with a hot young cutie and nobody said much about it – but what do you expect from a country where the new “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie is classified suitable for children 12 and up?

In the last decade the big players in the hookup business, Durex Condoms, and online dating sites for married people have conducted exhaustive surveys to work out where in the world people are cheating most. Here, TheRichest has crunched the data to find out which ten countries are most often cited as enjoying illicit sexy affairs.

There are some outliers in the data, however. For example, in a 2005 poll by Durex, Turkey was ranked as the infidelity capital of the world. The credibility of that number is thought to be dubious, as Muslim countries are invariably among the least adulterous in the world; that particular result has therefore been eliminated from the following findings as anomalous. In fact, Paris has been voted the Infidelity Capital of the World, although the numbers suggest the real capital might be much further east…

    10. Finland: 36%

Technically Finns don’t cheat. They have “parallel relationships.” It might be worth trying that one on your spouse if you get caught.  Interestingly, the rate among middle aged and younger cheater declined sharply through 2010. One blogger in Finland says that sex in the nation “… is viewed as a very positive experience, so when a person is presented with the possibility of a sexual experience, it’s in some ways socially sanctioned to pursue it.”

A survey by Match.com found one in five married men had had affairs with at least ten women – seven times the rate among women.

    9. United Kingdom 36%

Here the survey found definite evidence of “Anglo-Saxon puritanism” in the UK views of morality and sexuality. Not only are they at the lower end of the European infidelity rate (or is that the higher end of the monogamy rate?), they lead the league in guilt. About half of British respondents who admitted cheating say they regretted it, about twice the rate of the French. The ranking suggests only commoners were surveyed. Including the Royal family’s exploits would have made the country Top Five easy,

    8. Spain: 39%

After directing Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Woody Allen said Penelope Cruz was so hot, his pants caught on fire. You would think the Spanish machismo and sultry women would top the Hot Chart, but surveyors concluded that religion and convention can inhibit extramarital activity.

Spain is, traditionally, strongly Catholic and so cheating would inevitably be frowned upon socially. Despite the taboo, Spain has a surprisingly high divorce:marriage ratio of over 60, so perhaps the Spaniards are choosing to end one relationship before embarking on a new one?

    7. Belgium 40%

Who knew? Belgium is more widely known for having the best French fries on earth than for being a hotbed of hanky panky. But consider this: The online relationship site Gleeden is the Ashley Madison of Belgium for married men and women looking to hookups. It has 1.1 million members. That’s 10% of the entire population looking for illicit sex.

One Gleeden advisor said “Having a lover or a mistress becomes almost the norm and is no longer a secret that is whispered. The lover, the mistress, is the ultimate antidepressant.” How ironic that more traditional antidepressants can cause sexual dysfunction whereas Gleeden’s prescription will have the opposite effect.

    6. Norway: 41%

Victoria Milan found that new registrations on their cheating site increased by 78% during a heat wave. When you live in the Land of the Midnight Sun, it seems there’s a short mating season. Those long, cold, bleak winters may discourage stepping out.

A blogger called ‘A Canadian in Norway’ observed the comparatively low rate of cheating in Norway may be because “Norway is small and everyone knows your business so infidelity is less common. Just as well, you’re apt to find the neighbour you’re having an affair with is a blood relation.”

    5. France: 43%

Few French cared a soupcon when it was revealed that President Francois Hollande had a young, hot mistress. In fact it’s something of a tradition for French Presidents.

French is the language of love and the French are known for their passion and élan. So it’s almost a shock that France isn’t in fact the number 1 world leader in infidelity.

The French are so much more civilized about these things. It’s the only country in the world in which a majority of people believe affairs are not morally unacceptable. 63% of French people believe it is possible to love someone for life without being faithful to them. Only 28% of French people surveyed regretted their affairs. So, perhaps spiritually at least, France is the center of the unfaithful universe.

    4. Germany: 45%

Another surprising ranking, few would have guessed married Germans are more amorous than the French. But they’re just quieter and more discreet about their sexual transgressions.

They were second behind the French with 60% reporting infidelity as morally acceptable. They are also the most egalitarian society when it comes to these matters. 40% of men confessed to affair as did 43% of women, the randiest women in the European Union. If lineups of young men start to form at German consulates everywhere, you know why.

    3. Italy: 45%

When a country’s past leader is famous for ‘bunga bunga’ parties and is convicted of paying for sex with an underage sex workers, it’s not a shock to find the nation falls into the upper tier of cheaters.

Besides, Venice is the birthplace of Casanova, the epitome of skirt chaser. It’s a reputation Italian men retain to this day. Casanova wrote to an Empress he was seeing that “dishonour only arises in reality when the infidelity if made public.” But that was in the 18th century, before they invented divorce lawyers – a lot more than dishonour hits the fan these days. Maybe Casanova’s mentality is why the Italian divorce rate is among the lowest in the world; the Italians are all just so good at hiding their escapades.

    2. Denmark: 46%

Copenhagen has lost its reputation as Sex and P*rn Capital of Europe to Hamburg and Amsterdam but it’s still called “a social and erotic arena.”

Frommer’s travel guide says that sex shops peddling magazines and X-rated films stand adjacent to decent and well-recommended family hotels. But it’s still called the infidelity capital of Denmark. Cheating site Victoria Milan thrives here, and is lately seeing an increase in membership mostly from women, which is taken as a sign of growing equality between the sexes.

    1. Thailand: 56%

Bangkok’s Patpong is the most notorious red light district in the world and the sex trade is a fair-sized economic sector, much to the dismay of most Thais. And dismay was the official reaction when a Durex poll found married Thai men and women among the most promiscuous in the world.

There isn’t necessarily a direct connection between sex work and adultery, but the industry contributes to a no-holds-barred vibe to sexuality in Thailand. Patpong is the first and sometimes only part of the country tourists see. Among expat males, young Thai girlfriends are a status symbol. There’s also an old tradition of polygamy called Mia Nois, lesser wives, which remains primarily among rich men.

Whatever your kinks run to, you can probably find them here. Without a doubt, it’s the Wild Wild East.

  2. In which case I'm assuming your nearest and dearest know all about your interest in the transgendered species.

To some degree that's comparing apples to mangoes.

It didn't affect my day to day life in New York very much by not talking about what I did in Bangkok.

Let's take it a step further and let's suppose my kink was wearing lipstick, stockings, garter, and a wig in the bedroom.  Not a pretty sight and my dear Aunt Sally need not know about that.

Or if I got into the bathtub for my girlfriend to urinate on me.

In these scenarios, I wake up the next morning, put on my pants one leg at a time, have my morning coffee and life goes on as usual.

But if Bruce Jenner or anyone, feels they are a woman inside, something much deeper than merely a fetish, there is no way (s)he live as a woman on daily basis without coming out of the closet.

  3. It's not cheap but Continental Bakery in Jomtien has a quality breakfast served till it closes around 8PM.

No Nescafe here but an excellent cup of coffee comes with all brekkies.   :sign0196:

I don't eat eggs so most brekkies don't work for me so on my two visits once I hasd teh German breakfst and teh other timethe Bratwurst breakfast.

Excellent bread or toast comes with all breakfasts.

AC indoors or a fan cooled porch.

Bangkok Post and The Nation for your reading pleasure.

On the main road to between Theprasit and Jomtien 2nd Road.

  4. 7/11s and Family Marts charge whatever the price really is.

Phone shops often try one on with a markup as 100 baht just sounds so reasonable.

What I do find confusing are Sims that are marketed as internet Sims but can fit in both phones.  i-2-Call has various types and I don't know whether call or text charges are the same for all Sims or not.

I would prefer to get one that only works in a dumbphone.  But now that Somchai from Nakhon Nowhere has a smrtphone, I'm the last man standing with my Cheap Charlie Nokia.

  5. Just a reminder.

The 1st Anniversary Party is on Thursday, February 19th.

It's also Chinese New Year welcoming in the Year of the Goat!

  6. hi there could anybody please give me an update on getting a sim card, for an unlocked phone?do i need to register with a passport?or id?or neither.

Currently it's pretty easy.  You just go to a 7/11 or Family Mart or other places and you can get a SIM card for 50 baht. No registration.

But I hear that's changing in Thailand and soon a Thai will need to present their ID and a non-Thai their passport.

In Cambodia I've always had to show my passport.

    Anyone know about the Philippines?

  7. Playing the Frequent Flyer game is probably the best way to make a trip to Thailand more economical.

I always flew cattle class though as I'd rather have more trips albeit less comfortable.

The signup bonuses for credit cards are significant.  I also got a boatload of mile for signing up with Fidelity and Ameritrade.

Two other tricks not related to credit cards.

    1) Stopovers.   Generally one long layover is permitted.  I had a 10 month layover in Bangkok and then flew to my final destination Bali and spent a month there.

    2) Although I earned my miles in the United program, I prefered to fly Singapore Airlines which has comfy seats.  Bit I wouldn't actually "book" the flight with United or Sing.  I might book the flight with a partner Airline such as Thai which cost less miles back then.

So earn on United, use the Thai Airways website to book, and fly on Sing.

  8. Eyemahk and xyzzy know how to mark locations on Google Maps which is a mystery to me how it's done.

Here's the map including the longitude and lattitude.

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/12%C2%B055%2711.4%22N+100%C2%B053%2737.9%22E/@12.919843,100.893863,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0?hl=en

By looking at the map you can find a shortcut from Telephone Bar to Club 4.  Although Club 4 is not marked it is only a minute or so away from the Love Time Inn which is marked.  Club 4 is also an easy walk from Bliss Blowjob Bar.

Love Time Inn is a short time hotel with secure parking and porn movies charging 280 baht for 3 hours.

But if you're not familiar with the outskirts of Pattaya it's best if I just show you some afternoon. It's easy to get to from my place.

  9. thanks, alot BB, just a shame won't be able to raise cheap bottles of Leo with you this time at the old Mouth Moy

They are so cheap anymore GT.  70 baht Large Leo's are history.

It's now 60 baht for a small Leo and 90 baht for a large Leo so I order small Leos which gives me more flexibilty.

No barfine and no ladydrinks though.  And a very sweet lady behind the bar

  10.  It does, after all, bring you to Shea Stadium oooops Citifield!!!!

That's not what John Rocker said!

Lots of good memories of the 7 train going to the World's Fair.

But for baseball, You can Take The D Train, If You Want to Go Up To Yankee Stadium!

If I was a newspaper mogul, I'd day F U to the guys at Shitty Bank and still call it Shea.

  11. Although Thailand's transgendered community is probably more accepted than anywhere else in the world, there still is discrimination.

    Transgender Moans Over Club Ban

    9 Feb 2015

A well-known transgender-female model complained to the National Human Rights Commission Monday that he was denied entry to a popular club at Royal City Avenue, one of Bangkok’s top night-entertainment venues, due to his sexual identity.

The petition was filed with NHRC chairwoman Amara Pongsapich by Nijshanaaj Sudlarphaar, better known as Sarina Thai, the first Thai transgender model to showcase his talents on the international fashion scene, including at New York Fashion Week.

Sarina said he and three foreign friends went to the Onyx club at RCA on Rama 9 Road on Jan 1 around midnight to celebrate New Year's. A club security guard asked to check identification cards of his friends and allowed them to enter. But Sarina was told: "You can't enter because you are sao praphet song" — a woman of the second category; in other words, a transvestite.

The tearful model said the staff's remark made him feel sorry, embarrassed and considered it an insult to his dignity.

Sarina said his foreign friends also felt sorry for him and questioned why a Thai person should be refused entry into a Thai night club.

Sarina said he complained to the human-rights commissioner to protest transgender discrimination and urge society to change attitudes and support transgender equality.

Sarina, who openly supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, was accompanied by Ronnapoom Samakkhi-arom, a Thammasat University lecturer and president of the Thai Transgender Alliance.

Mr Ronnapoom said the club denial was a violation of consumer rights protected under Section 4 of the interim charter dealing with human-rights principles.

He said there were currently many night-entertainment venues in Bangkok and other provinces denying services for transsexual people. Some operators in Pattaya and Phuket even installed a sign banning three "prohibited items" - dogs, durian and kathoeys (transvestites or transgenders) from entering their premises

He said security guards at those clubs often claimed that the ban was their management's policy or because they were thieves or sex workers scouting for customers and victims.

Mr Ronnapoom urged bar and club operators not to stereotype all transgender people with such negative attitudes.

He believed the situation would improve once Thailand's first anti-gender discrimination bill was promulgated. The legislation passed its first reading in the National Legislative Assembly in December and carried both fines and prison sentences for violators.

Commissioner Taejing Siripanich said the agency would invite executives of the club for an inquiry.

  12.

Sopon said most Thai men should stick with the 52mm size and he hopes Thai youths will change their attitude and stop fearing being teased by friends. “They should instead care more about pleasure of their partners,” the department chief added.

  13.

Thai Internet speeds have returned to normal after around two weeks of patchy and unreliable service. The Asia-America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable system near the Philippines (which links Thailand and Malaysia to the US and North Asia) has been repaired.

The fault happened several weeks ago at an unspecified undersea location near the Philippines, but according to Telekom Malaysia ™ Bhd has since been repaired.

“This information was relayed to us by the consortium that manages and maintains the Asia-America Gateway submarine cable system (in which Telekom Malaysia is a part of)”, said Telekom Malaysia in a statement.

The problem had in fact been scheduled to have been fixed sooner, but TM announced on Monday that the completion would be postponed due to “due to challenging sea conditions and additional repairs required”.

  14.  I've been considering a trip to a gentlemans club

    Which one?

If going to Carre Blanc, Tuesday and Friday are the best days as drinks are 2 for 1.  So you can get two SanMigLites for 100 baht or two Leos for 80 baht.

Was also at Telephone Bar recently.
