Sadly China has mostly cornered the market on rare earth minerals. If you don't know what that is you should do a web search and some reading.

I do know what rare earth minerals are , I learnt about that in school . Australia has sold Iron and LPG to China for many years and now China own a port in the Top End of Australia and it only permits Chinese owned ships to dock there , that should never of happened .

  3. Every other country should not let Chinese into that country and STOP buying shit from China and STOP selling natural resources to China and finally STOP letting China buy land particularly in Australia.

A 1 year extension of stay based on what is commonly referred to as a retirement visa is actually pretty simple.

You need to show that you have 800,000 baht in a Thai Bank account for 3 (maybe 2) months before renewal and then keep the 800K in that account for 3 months after renewal and never let the account go below 400K if using the money in the bank method.  Don't know too much about the ins and outs of the 65K per month retirement income method such as do you need to transfer 65K a month into the Thai bank every month, or do it on a yearly basis.

But in either case the rest is simple. A bank letter. proof of residence, a picture, copies of your bank book and 1900 baht.

But you really need to double check everything as yur visa could be slightly different than mine with somewhat different requirements.

    Thanks Mr. P

Nong Kai immigration gave me a printed out list of what I need and also gave me the website name "  https://immigrationbangkok.com/thailand-immigration-forms/ " , mine is the TM 7 form according to the big wigs .

It all looks simple enough and I have already got every thing sorted except the bank statement as that needs to be done on the day of application .

Well done Stoolpusher & Dao!  This Romscar is already as good as yours as I doubt any BM will come forward with alternatives, let alone enough BMs for me to forego my choice of you 2.  Big big cheers!

Thanks so much Rom , we have been together for nearly 5 years now and to see Dao so house proud really is great. Her very large family on her mum's side and the same on her dad's side are amazing . There has never been any hint of " Dao's falung boyfriend will pay for stuff for us " ( that you hear happening all the time ) , if anything its completely opposite.

We and the family consider us married.

So I BIG premature thanks for the prestigious award Rom , we may get beaten to  the post. :hi:

yes i can dig that Woodie, understood. However my point to Rom and maybe others is that this forum shouldn't be used as a sounding board to attack that forum. perhaps i'm different to some because getting barred was never a problem for me... more a relief actually.

it's not fair on the moddy fellows here to talk about LBP too much, puts them in an embarrassing position i think..

edit... because Cobbers post just came in straight after mine... calm down cobber...you are one of the good guys

    Spot on BBG .

This is this forum so let's all just calm down a tad and get on with life's  pleasures.

  7. For the photographer award ( as I have posted before) ,it has to be Bumble bee .

Most of his snaps are straight from the hip ,what he sees out and about .

The TR well I have never really been into the " how many ladyboys I can get in one day " ,but  seeing different things while travelling around are interesting .I did like the Philippines TR away from the bars and night clubs.

yeah, I'm glad that guy showed up.  Buying a harvester might be a good business move, as this is the first I've seen of one in her area.  Definitely glad this guy showed up. Polly works her ass off on that 8 rai all season, pulling weeds, replacing thinned out patches, etc. Then the harvest.  Probably jasmine, don't know.  Do they do half and half? she's got two 4 rai plots, could do sticky in one I spose.  NICE tractor Stoolie, jesus...big money big money...need a big long flatbed to transport the whole family :)

The only problem buying a harvester is that its only used for rice so only about 2 months of the year other times it just sits in the shed .

Yes most farms grow both Jasmine and sticky , the sticky takes a little longer to grow ( an extra couple of weeks. )

  9. Responding to JSG previous question has prompted me to post a little more about the rice harvest process .

As with all grasses the color changes as the plant matures , as the seed ( in this case rice ) starts to form the plant is a healthy green and the seed is very soft inside the shell . Then the plant starts to die off turning a yellow then to brown in color , the seed firms up  and is then ready to harvest. In nature the seed would fall to the ground , germinate and the process starts all over again . With the rice being grown for food and sale , its a bit of a juggling act to get the timing just right . If the rice is cut to soon then the crop takes much longer to dry out before it can be stored or sold , if its left to long then it falls off the stalk and the crop is lost .

As for using a harvester or manual labor you have to look at the cost , time taken ( using both methods ) and lost product that then affects profits.

The average hand cutting team work in groups of at least 10 people at 3 to 400 baht per person per day cutting in JSG case 8 rai that would take at least a day and a half and its a general rule the farmer has to provide food and beverages for the team ( another cost ), then you still need a header or harvester to remove the rice from the plant at another cost . Using a harvester the same area costs about 4,000 baht , takes half a day and is cut , the seed separated from the stalk and is then loaded into bags or a trailer for sale or storage . So for me the harvester is the way to go .

great stuff Stoolie...I've had a hard time getting info from my ladyboy farmer.  She's got 8 rai.  They usually harvest by hand, paying workers 3-400 baht a day, I've always suspected it was a money loser when it's all said and done, or very near.  If she can buy rice at 2000 baht a year for her small family use, I think she should just dig great holes in her fields and farm fish and  crawfish maybe.  THIS YEAR one of those Kubota mini harvesters showed up and she'll go that route I think.

Tell me something, her fields look all BLOWN DOWN, like trashed by wind, yet yours are standing fine, just yellowed. What's up with that do ya know? Can't get an answer from Polly.

Depending on what rice she has ( Jasmine or sticky ) ,there is a slight colour difference when close to harvest time . The rice plant when it turns to seed ( harvest time ) gets very top heavy and the wind plays a big part to in making it fall down,  the Thai term is " rice sleeping " , about 50% of ours was sleeping. The yellowing is another indication that its ready for harvest and the Jasmine matures a little quicker than the sticky.

When looking at costs if you have the money on the day it works out cheaper, quicker and less labour involved using the harvester and is easier for the machine to rake the sleeping rice than by hand .

Cutting by hand you still have to get someone with a  harvester or a mobile header to remove the rice from the stalk and they need to be paid as well .

We are helping hand cut today, and the owner will get a mobile header in .

Governments send the men and women to fight these wars. Respect those who served, Woodie (as I'm sure you do) and condemn the wars and those who create them. Lest we forget those who gave so much.

Well said Cobber  and you saw it all first hand in Vietnam ,

Respect to all that have served and are servings now :hi:

  13. Newbie  - Imran Khan  , he has not been with a LB in Thailand but sure has been interested for quite a while now and I do hope he makes it when it is safe and much easier to travel

BM photographer - it has to be BB for sure , he gets out and about when in town and his style  is copied by another BM who seems to copy everyone ( I wont name him on here )

    TR - sorry no idea

BM and LB couple , has to be Iain and Nam from WhyNot Bar BKK , they have been around for quite a while now and have done a great job on the new bar in soi 4 Nana .

LB of the year - I am not in a position to know .

Bar owner - would have to be Emmy from Emmy's Bar Jomtien , she is a true bar owner with NO outside backing , she has done it all her self and I consider Emmy to be my friend and Thai Sister.

BM of the year - there are a small handful of guys ( that I wont name ) that   are great in their own special way and have not tried to big note them selves . So its to hard for me to decide that one.
