  1. Update on Calypso Cabaret. It has moved from Asia Hotel to: Asiatique, The Riverfront (Warehouse no.3); 2194 Charoenkrung 72-76 Rd., Prayakrai, Bangkorlaem, Bangkok 10120 Thailand Tel: +66 2 688 1415-7 | Mobile: +66 8 6349 1937-8 Here's their home page: http://www.calypsocabaret.com/fact.html It's in a bigger theatre now, 350 seats, vs: 250 at Asia Hotel. They also offer a combination buffet dinner/show package. I caught the show during my December 2012 visit, and have to say it's better than ever in the new location. I'm posting some photos from the new location. Opening Numbers
  2. Here's another video from Pattaya Channel. Quite touching at the end where Kevin says her family was waiting in the lobby as they couldn't afford the tickets to come into the theatre.
  3. I know an lb who also has her birthday on Feb. 29 - so she celebrates hers only once every four years. You're still a young whipper snapper, have a great celebration, and Happy Birthday!
  4. Former President Jimmy Carter was recently interviewed about Argo, and commented although the movie was good, the facts were wrong. He said the CIA were only involved near the end, and Canadians were the driving force behind the plan.
  5. Have to agree with the State Tower visit - took my gf and her friends for dinner there. Spectacular and the food was excellent - although it was the most expensive restaurant bill I've had, I would say it was worth it. Couldn't do it on a regular basis though! I would also suggest a night cruise along the Chao Phraya River - either a dinner cruise on one of the river cruisers, or on one of the rice barges. Also would recommend Calypso Cabaret - now at the Riverfront. They have a unique show very different from the usual Tiffany/Alcazar cabaret show.
  6. xyzzy - probably the best time to go would be around 7-8 pm - many of the best looking (ie most barfined) lbs don't show up for work until then. It is true, weeknights don't always have the best looking girls, as many working are university students (in the new KC2) and will only work on Friday/Sat/Sun nights and school breaks. The key to taking a taxi is the same whichever end of Patpong you exit from (Surawong or Silom). Don't take a taxi sitting there in the queue - these are the ripoff taxis and will only take you if you agree to an inflated fare. You must walk a bit further and wave a taxi going by or cross the street to the other side (however a few of those also are ripoff taxis - if they don't agree to use the meter just check another one).
  7. Came across an interesting video on Youtube. Tamils originally come from Sri Lanka and South India. We don't usually see much information about Indian ts/tv. Part I Part II Part III
  8. The final shots - you can see just how many press were present, it had widespread coverage. So it ends for another year - notable though, for a first time win by a fully deserving Filipina lb.

  14. Thanks 4:17, I was using my new Sony Alpha A57, with a Minolta F4.5-5.6, 70-300mm zoom, and my Sony Alpha F56 flash. I am quite happy with its faster focusing and better high ISO capability than my old Konica-Minolta 5D - even though the color in the jpegs was not as nice. Miss International Queen 2011, Sirapassorn Atthayakorn (Nong Sammy) doing her farewell.
  15. Kevin's turn with her impromptu question. She gave a very good answer with a lot of applause from the audience. Her experience in contests really shone through for this critical part of the contest. No. 7, Panvilas Mongkok, Thailand was very gracious giving applause for Kevin's answer.
  16. Next up with her impromptu question, no. 7 Panvilas Mongkul. Kevin anxiously looking on, waiting for her turn.
  17. Jessika Simoes' impromptu speech - she had a difficult time, as it was translated from Thai to English, which is not her first language.
