  1. Thanks bumblebee. It was good to meet you and Jimslim last November. Unfortunately I wasn't too well for most of my time there, which put me off LOS, for a while anyway, and I cancelled my trip this February. But I'm missing LOS again now, and as I have taken redundancy I will be able to go for a couple of months next winter. I'd like to spend some time in Hua Hin as I do like walking on beaches, but will probably go back to Jomtien for at least the last few days, as it will be easier to get to BKK airport from there for the early flight back.

Will let you guys know nearer the time and maybe meet up with anyone who is going to be around then.

  2. Yes Thanks Lone Ranger. Doesn't look like I'll be getting to LOS this year, but I'm thinking of going for two months next Jan-Feb. I think I will probably go to Hua Hin, as it seems quieter than Patts, and with a decent beach to stroll along. If I get bored I might head over to Jomtien for a while.

At the moment I think I will book the Ibis for the first 10-14 days, then consider extending stay there or changing to another hotel.

Would appreciate any recommendations for reasonably priced (around £30) hotels near the beach in Hua Hin, which are lb friendly.

Edit: Are most hotels and guesthouses in Hua Hin generally lb friendly as they are in Pattaya?

  3. Make sure you have insurance because it can ruin you if you don't. A guy I used to work with used to go to LOS every year for ggs. He would stay at a place in one of the Soi 13s which had accommodation above, I think it was called the Schoolhouse or Classroom or something like that, where the ggs dressed up in school uniform. One night while engaged in activities with a gg he fell out of bed and broke his hip. Spent some time in a Pattaya hospital, and then the insurance company paid for him to be flown back to UK, would have cost a fortune if he hadn't been insured.

You need to be careful though, because if you have blood tests and alcohol is found, the insurance company will say any accident is your fault for being drunk and refuse to pay. It's usually an exclusion fault in the policy. That happened to the son of someone else I worked with. He fell off a hotel balcony and ended up in a coma. Insurance company wouldn't pay and it cost £80k to have him flown back to UK.

  4. I think the first two episodes with Annie and Cheyenne, and Sensations with Paeng and Scott were great. But the next three episodes just seemed like clips from the first and second series. It's a shame because I would have though that there could have been more new material to show.

Episodes from both series are shown almost every night at 9pm (peak viewing time) on the Sky Living channel in UK, so it is getting across to a wide audience.

  5. I didn't know where to put this, so I'll put it in here if Josh doesn't mind.

I did mention that I had a bit of a problem with one of the girls from Baby Boom. Partly my fault for being tired, jet-lagged, and drunk when I took her, and letting her get too drunk.

Anyway Josh sorted it all out satisfactorily, and amicably. He's a good bloke and Baby Boom is a great bar.

Not sure if I can make it tomorrow, but I expect it will be a great party as usual - just don't let your girl get too drunk!

  6. Most of the party season gang have left town now, I may drop over if I can rustle up a few of the remainders.

If you do go over bb let me know, I'd like to go too, though it looks like it may rain tonight.

I am having difficulties accessinf the internet from my hotel, but did get a phone from tukcom. I will pm you my number.

  7. Don't think I can make it. Saw Josh last night and he is sorting out the problem I had. He's a good guy. But I have to go to Baby Boom tonight.

Hope you guys have a good time at the Morlam, but it looks like it will be rather muddy. It's just stopped raining though.

  8. I got there late and missed iceberg unfortunately, but met some guys I knew from previous trips, and some BMs who I didn't know before. The party was great, but I think I drank too much with didn't combine too well with the jetlag and tiredness, and bfd someone who was all over me in the bar, but turned out to be a nightmare and got ripped off. :sad0143:

Well things can only get better - I hope.

  9. I will take a walk soon & see how things are here in the hood

Take care out there. From the news reports over here it seems that most of the deaths have been of people going outside against the official advice, and being hit by falling branches, hoardings and power lines.

It has been commented on by British reporters over there that the USA, despite it's huge technological superiority, still has electricity mainly supplied by overhead cables, causing power outtages during storms to large numbers of people.
