  1. Manchesters ok,you get a lot more bang for your buck in Mcr.....there isn't that much difference in the salaries ,but the cost of accomodation in london makes living there prohibitive....

The cost of housing is definitively high in London. But I've only ever lived here so I suppose I take it for granted. I think we kind of get used to where we were brought up and think it's a great place to live, but maybe because it's where our family and friends are.

I couldn't move anywhere I don't know anyone. That might be because I am quiet, and don't make new friends easily.

Anyway the people in Manchester have strange accents, and from what I hear it rains a lot up there! :character00292:

  2. I would happily pay £8 to get out of London, its a shithole

I like London despite all it's problems. I went to Manchester last Sunday for the march to the Tory Conference to protest against the cuts, and I don't think it was any better (or worse) than London. :Hmmmph:

  3. There is an internet tv show with Kendo and Flatpack? I feel like I never pay attention to anything on LBR. How can I miss this? How can I find this show?

Not an internet tv show Rukki. Sky TV made two series for the UK, Ladyboys and Ladyboys 2. They were available on Youtube but might not be there now as Sky wanted to sell the series in USA, Australia and elsewhere.

They are shown almost every night on one of the Sky channels in UK. There were 3 threads in the Boiler Room about them with links to internet links, so you might be able to see them there if the links still work.

  4. By the way - can you still park on single yellow lines after lunchtime on Saturday and not get clamped (and/or meters after 12 as i remember it). Always a good deal that was.  Drive up to the West End, park outside the BBC at Portman Place and it was free.  Two minute walk to Oxford Street.

I don't drive now either mardhi, so I'm not sure but I don't think you can park free anywhere in Central London at any time now. And apart from the parking charges you will have to pay the Congestion Charge (£8 I think) for entering Central London.

  5. Got to keep your wits about you on the mean streets of London too. Maybe not so many holes and steel bits sticking out of the pavement, but you have to dodge the preoccupied idiots walking along blindly, reading or sending texts on their mobiles.

When I get back to London after a trip to los, everything, pedestrians and traffic seem to moves a lot faster. Takes me a few days to readjust.

  6. some big London property launches are made first in Moscow , Hong Kong or Singapore now due to the super rich who gobble up the prime plots first.

I saw a program recently about rich investors from abroad buying up property in London, and they mentioned Thailand as another place where new developments are being sold first.

  7. A yahoo video report based on the Bangkok Post story about Sylvester:

Western homeless population up in Thailand

The guy shown in the yahoo video being picked up on Jomtien Beach and put in police van is 'English Steve' who is featured in this article in the Independent:

    The Independent

Why are so many Westerners homeless in Thailand?

btw deepthroat, the Paul Garrigan referred to in op, is also mentioned in this article, and from the description, doesn't seem to be the guy you thought he is.

  8. Nice start Ernesto. I'm not sure if that's the same Aum I met at So What Bar last year. She looks different. If it is you did better wit the pics than me. She wanted £10 (490 Baht) extra to take a couple of pics and insisted I didn't put them on the internet. And as I was leaving she called me back to say I should leave 100 Baht 'for lady cleaning loom'!

I must have looked like a newbie. She asked me when I come back. I said soon, but although I saw her in the soi a couple of times after that and she tried to get me to come in, I declined.

She is a sexy ladyboy though.

  9. Oh dear I'm too old again! I grew up on Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, etc. I though punk rock was total garbage when it came along. It's tough being old.

I must be even older than you! :( The bands of my youth were the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I couldn't understand the lyrics of the punk bands. Just sounded like a lot of discordant noise to me. I must have been an old fogey at 27!

I was a steward at the Rock Against Racism/ Anti Nazi League Carnival in East London in 1978 which was headlined by the Clash.

We had guarded the stage all night to prevent it being attacked by the fascists, and I was with the stewards in front of the stage during the gig. We had to wear plastic bin bags as the first few rows of punks were spitting in the air towards the stage and it was coming down on us like rain! When I hear Clash lyrics now I can understand why people liked them.

  10. I was watching a tv program about pub and club doormen called 'Bouncers' the other night. It was set in the 'pink triangle' of gay bars and clubs in Newcastle. There was one bar called Eazy Street, which has a transvestite night on Wednesdays. You can google it for the location if you want to try your luck there.

The ones they showed did look a bit rough compared to the los ladyboys though.

  11. I think we all have some empathy with the ladyboys and treat them as well as we can given the contradictions and difficulties in a p4p situation. I wouldn't treat any other human being as just a piece of meat for my sexual gratification. I always go with the 'treat others as you would want to be treated' way of doing things.

  12. What's a bell bus?

Bell Bus run a service to Pattaya, Bangkok and Don Muang Airport from BKK airport. Costs 230 Baht to Pattaya, takes about 2 hours and they transfer you directly to your hotel in a minibus from their Pattaya bus depot.

Times from bkk airport are 0800/1000/1200/1400/1600/1800

From Pattaya to bkk 0600/0900/1100/1300/1500/1700/1900 - they will pick you up from hotel.

You should book in advance on their website, but might be able to get on bus at airport if there is an empty seat.
