please more BMs share what they like about LBR that cannot be found at other boards, and vice-versa....

I like the fact that racism isn't tolerated here. This used to be the case on the other lb forum but that has changed with the new management and it now seems to be positively encouraged. The original owner and mod would not have allowed it, and most forums would not.

Pattaya Addicts also will not allow racist posts and I find that forum useful for info on the general los scene.

Now,  I'm not saying that Kid Poke has a-killed a couple of deputies, not that i know of anyway, but rumours abound in London that a man known variously as Kid Poke or Kid Clint, with other alias's  once allegedly plugged an Afghani Trannie full of lead in a dubious West End club, for wearing a similar dress to his, one party night.

I just came thru Arrivals on the 4th and it was JAMMED.  I have NEVER seen so many people in there and most all Imm officer stations were manned.  It moved so fast you could almost be on roller skates. I stopped picking up my bag and putting it down and just kind of kick/shuffled it ahead. Quick almost cursory check of the passport, no questions, just stamped and moved on...the scanner part was not even put into play.  All that being said, I came i at 1pm where it's usually just before midnight with MANY fewer people but usually took near an hour to clear and get bags. I believe this high season will be good. At least in tourist numbers.  Run your checklist, relax and be optimistic.

I've read on Pattaya Addicts forum that over-70s, pregnant women and monks can go through a fast track queue on right hand side of Immigration Hall. I'm not pregnant or a monk but I am over 70 so I should get through faster.

  4. As the festive season is approaching I bought a couple of bottles of Jack Daniel's flavoured bourbons, cinnamon and honey, which are on offer in my local supermarket.

Miserable grey wet London weather outside. Still only a few weeks until I get back to los.

I think the words "orphan" and "monger"  should never be on the same sentence and mongers visiting orphanages for whatever reason is something that understandably raises contradictions and red flags.  Moreover, Paultain's orphanage was the one right next door to the Areca Lodge.  I am not insinuating anything personal.  Just that orphanages are not like doing charity at a church or a temple or at the mall...

I have stayed at Areca Lodge, and wasn't aware that there was any orphanage right next door to it, and I've looked on google map and can't see any.

The two orphanages referred to by Paultain are the Fountain of Life Children's Centre which is in Moo 6 Naklua, about 3 km away from Areca Lodge. The Father Ray Foundation orphanage is in Sukhumvit Road also about 3-4 km away.

LB forums and BMs have supported the pre-covid Ladyboy Water Volley Ball competitions (organised by a BM) which successfully raised many hundreds of thousands of Baht for charities including the Pattaya Orphanage also in Sukhumvit Road.

These charities are well aware of potential issues and have safeguarding and security systems in place. Visitors cannot just turn up and wander round. Their details are taken at reception and they are escorted around by a staff member. There is no contact with children, and taking photos of children is not allowed.

Your comment does sound like an insinuation, which is uncalled for in my opinion.

UK Pound over 44 Baht today.

The Fed hiked rates by 3/4 of a percent yesterday and the BOE did so today.

After reaching over 44 Baht to the UK£ last week, the Pound has fallen again after the BoE raised interest rate to 3% on Thursday.

Usual economic theory is that a rise in interest rates should strengthen a currency, but after the chaos of the UK Government this doesn't apply now.

I'm afraid he wrote his book since he needed money (what happened to his business in the Netherlands ?) then starting rambling in Pattaya bars and forums to try to promote the book.

Paultain did NOT write the book because "he needed money" as he would not have had any expectation of making any.  The potential audience for such farang-in-Thailand books is very small and I doubt Paultain's book sold as many as 50 copies to readers he did not personally ask to buy the book.  The book was self-published on blurb.com and he chose the no-photos, cheapest paper and layout options available and probably did not print more than the number of copies he could personally carry to the Canterbury Tales bookstore and sell his farang friends in Pattaya.   With Blurb you can always have another batch printed later at not much of an extra cost per copy.  The "Paultain Experience" was strictly VANITY PRESS ON-THE-CHEAP but it represents a noteworthy undertaking.

The proceeds from the book were to go to two Pattaya orphanages.
