sorry Rom, sort of messing your topic up here... but i did once meet Jimbo in Simple Simons! in reply to Quietguy... i'm much more of an eat at home type nowadays, much more sensible in these hard times... ..  and as Quinn touched upon... Crisps are easy to cook....

Tourists arrivals to Thailand surged after the GFC.... and so did the rents.

    sorry Lance, what is GFC?

Talking about Restaurants as PD was... i noticed in the Pattaya Trader that Simple Simon's in Jomtien is up for sale. This place used to be a Jomtien landmark, now up for grabs at 3.5 million baht !!! plus 10 months rent in advance at 47000 baht per month...

    madness.

Maybe you should get off your ass and go to Chiang Mai they are like ants there or notice the people around you , I have seen many in Pattaya

mmmm...  i guess an explanation of what you think a hippy is may help?  the only ones i have ever seen are at least 70 nowadays, old guy with a pony tail perhaps?. they are just old guys with shit for brains and pony tails.

so, what's a hippy then Nosher? did they ever exist? maybe in Haight Ashbury for about 5 years. Other than that just a newspaper fashion, not a tribe.

Is Hippy a specific Oz term for something else? Backpacker or suchlike?

  4. 14 minutes ago, stoolpusher said:

Does that mean we wont encounter hippies in Thailand anymore

er....no-one has encountered a Hippy since 1970 Nosher!

That's my concern Mr. P , if I head back to see dad I don't know if they will let me back here .I do have to do my next 90day report around the 3rd so I will have a few questions to ask

well don't take it for granted what info you are given Nosher...  i doubt that your common or garden Nakhon Nowhere immigration man will have a clue.  And always remember that many Thais, even those in uniform would rather just tell you anything, right or wrong, than admit to not knowing.

DACA? DHS? As an Aussie don't know those even though you were kind enough to explain APA! I like to keep up with world affairs but unfortunately more and more people now use local acronyms and nicknames so makes it hard to keep up. Some newspapers are rife with unexplained acronyms.

well said SJ. I make a point now of not continuing to read any post that contains acronyms or initials, except for yours  above !

it's just sheer laziness of people to use them. okay FBI, CIA and similar i know... but even things like IMHO...i don't have a clue and don't want to know. I can speak and read English.

Pattaya residents don't seem concerned about social distancing as there is a perception that the virus does not currently exist in Pattaya.  Could be problematic when the second wave comes when the borders are reopened.

surely you mean if a second wave comes? not when.  And, what do we wait for after a possible second wave should one come? 3rd?4th, 5th? how long is this nonsense going to go on?

and as i read recently a sneeze can travel something like 27 feet... so what good does 2 metres do anyway?

are we all going to live the rest of our lives scared of shadows?

it's a flu bug or similar... we catch it then we recover or die... end of story.

I'd say them songtaew rails are more Corona infested than the rails in Suvarnabhumi.

    Please wear gloves.

actually Seven, i'd be more worried about going anywhere near PD's famous button pushing Elbow....

  10. Thanks Sir Quinn.

Anyone wondering why Quinn posted the interview above when Seven had provided the link...it's because i couldn't read it on the NY times web site unless i joined the site.

indeed a soda or 2 Quinn.

The CCSA has not stated when exactly still closed venues like bars and pubs may legally open, citing concerns on social distancing.

typical left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

Social distancing? has anyone told the baht bus drivers that run the Pattaya to Jomtien route from the bus rank in Pattaya? The ones that still refuse to go until there are at least 12 people on the bus.

    It's not working 555

    A " friend " you say bbg

you know me Nosher... even torture would never drag the name out of me. No way whatsoever.

you could force me to listen to country and western all day...

you could get Rom to paint 'Blind Boy loves Manchester United' along my dick...

you could force me to read the Pattaya Mail for more than 30 seconds....

and any other horrific thing you can think of... the name will still never be divulged by me.

    Bribery might work though.

  13. of course Zaza will be dodgy! that's why we love it.

must say Nosher... it was quite sad walking past Zaza recently and not seeing Linping etc. to say hello to.

Soi Zaza is not the same without Zaza.....

i guess for a while it will have to be known as soi not-zaza.

hope to see you up and running soon.

Yes, I heard this on the news tonight. I've always gone by bus from Phitsanulok to Bangkok and / or Pattaya over the last 10 years; no problems. Now my plan to go down (when things start up again) will need some reviewing. I heard it was ok to go by train to Bangkok; and flying? I'll look into both in due course, but bus has always been convenient. Aah well, one more bump in the road.

fear not Cobber... one day we will finally make it to Kiss [i mean the place not the action...]

  15. Soapies well out of my price range PD !

Soi 6 pattaya? I may well know him depending on when he was there.

Reason i ask if you meant soi 6 Pattaya is that there used to be one Bar [the Bristol Bar] on soi 6 Jomtien too. I definitely know the guy that owned that, locals may recall the  Sunday night jam sessions that were held for charity outside the bar... until immigration closed it down because although unpaid musicians playing for charity ...no-one had a work permit. Thank god no-one played Bridge!... strangely enough it's a dodgy massage joint now...

don't for god's sake talk about the Pattaya Mail having a vacancy.... QG will be straight in there!

sorry, old timers moment there :) Plus I had a bunch of tabs open on different topics, and mighta been thinkin bout the Katty girls. Mind is on my mind...she was always quiet, which I've come to really like, and pleasant and SO not pushy I wondered if she really was there to pull in punters.  I don't recall anyone saying they took her to the loom. Plus Pokki/Pocky/Pokky? I think I will take both if I ever get back into LOS. I am afraid the junta boyz will ban USA entry for some time.

Mind certainly has her fans JSG. i don't know personally but some guys really rate her highly. As you say, very quiet but no problem with that. When she is on form she can be up there with Teya and Sunny. Mind is around but still hoping to get home to see mum in Laos for a while once the border opens. She [Mind] has one of those gorgeous teak houses in Laos.... very big.

Pokki has gone off somewhere, don't know where, but is probably still contactable by the other girls.
